Many people listen for the sole purpose of knowing when they can jump into the conversation or tell you what to do. Dr. Littenberg listens so he can understand what the patient is going through. His demeanor is top notch; calming and friendly. He doesn’t just give you a prescription and say, «See ya». He talks about lifestyle and changes the patient can make that can help them feel better and hopefully lessen or eliminate the symptoms they are experiencing. Be advised appointments in this type of practice can run long so when doctor sees you, it could be ½ hour after your actual appointment was scheduled. Read a magazine or text your friends. Dr. L. is worth waiting for. And it’s not because he’s in the hall bs-ing with someone. He spends as much time as necessary with each patient. You can’t ask for better.

Office staff is incompetent and lack empathy or concern. I called in May to make a appt, first available end of Aug! Mind you, I’ve been shitting my brains out for years and having horrible stomach cramps, what’s 3 more months? I get to my appt that they required me to get to 45 mins early cuz I’m new… Even though I filled out the 20 page questionnaire in advance that the doctor never read. I’m seen 1.5 hours after I arrived. Finally see doc, he asks a ton of questions. Says I need to go on a non fod-map diet and see him in 30 days. Sends me for a poop test and gluten test. Go to get test. I call the office 4 days later to check on results. Obviously I want to know as I’ve waited for so long already. I leave a detailed… very detailed message of my call. Some teenager calls me back and says, «you called? What did you need?» I say did you listen to my message? No she didn’t. Waste of time. I tell her over again. She informs me the lab did the wrong test on stool. I asked,” they still have stool to re test 5 days later?” She says yes. I said can you have the doc call me about the blood work? Doc never calls. I call 2 days later. I’m on hold for 18 mins. I ask for office manager. She comes on, apologizes at least. Tells me they did the wrong test on blood work, not stool. Ok. I ask for the doc to call me. Doc calls and says everything is normal. And questions me on wether I’m doing the diet right. I had eliminated gluten and food additives 2 weeks before seeing him already. He says I don’t listen. I ask him, «what about the belching?» He says its behaviorism. I ask him if he got the last upper GI report from my old doc. Doesn’t remember about that. So I’m still shitting my brains out. I have to admit the fod-map thing and gluten elimination is helping with stomach pain and bloating. I cancelled my next appt. #bye

I’ve been a patient of Dr Littenberg for over ten years and couldn’t recommend him any higher. I first went to see him when when I was dissatisfied with old gastro doctor. After my first appointment with Dr Littenberg I knew I had found the right Dr. for me. He was easy to talk to, listened to my concerns, and answered all my questions. He understood my aversion to lifelong pills and has a great understanding of all the treatment methods out there. He has a calming demeanor which is a huge benefit when you are dealing with something as complicated as your gut. I suffer from crohns disease and have for almost 30 years. I have a good idea what my body will and won’t respond to and like to have a strong knowledge of every treatment I start. Dr Littenberg explains things in a concise and understandable manner and has a great bedside manner. To further this point, I was talking to a family friend who is a world class liver specialist. I was telling him about my crohns and he said that you have to make sure you get the right doctor, this is a specialized area and the risk of a faulty diagnosis or treatment could have catastrophic results. He said could put me in contact with someone in the LA area that he recommended and trusted. I told him my doctor was Dr Littenberg and he just laughed and said, I know him, you’re in good hands, he’s the best. He is definitely an expert in his field and I am thankful that he is my doctor.

This is a great GI specialist! I feel like he saved my life & I only saw him for 15 minutes! Seems like a good detective. I am very glad my Dr called him for me!
