I got the chicken salad, friends ordered the power brunch and the mac n cheese. I thought the mac n cheese was good. My salad was nothing special. They have a lot of great drink deals, but we weren’t really here for that. I think this place is only really worth it if you come for the drinks. They have dim sum plates here, but I wasn’t willing to try it. This place seems confused, like it should be an American place but it’s serving dim sum? Our waiter was great, he was really funny and great to talk to. However, as it got busier, it seemed he was the only waiter for the whole place so we waited about 20 minutes for our check and then another 15 for him to bring the POS to use our card. There weren’t a lot of options in terms of other kinds of food. None of it really stood out as being a «must try». Meh, I’m not sure I would come back.

If I could, I would come here every weekend. — - a m b i e n c e /s e r v i c e — - This was the perfect place for brunch. First off, the service. The service was ahhh-mazing. Shout out to Robert for being so friendly, funny, and just oh so attentive! Loved him! Also the owner paid us a few visits to check up on us and he was beyond friendly and definitely made sure we kept our mimosas filled. Secondly, the whole atmosphere was great. People are all so happy because brunch is just the best meal ever. So people watching was definitely entertaining. There are also TVs around so if you’re trying to catch a game, no worries they gotchu. — - d r a n k s — - BOTTOMLESSMIMOSAS!(Saturday & Sunday from 11am-4pm) If you wanna be normal and boring then hey, bottomless mimosas for $ 15 butttttt… if you’re feelin fancy then I for just $ 3 more you can get the specialty mimosas!(GETTHESPECIALTY!) f a v e s : –FRENCH(no questions asked, this was my favorite. it’s a mix of two flavors… i can’t remember… sorry too many mimosas… haha) –pomegrante –mango(ask for chili powder and you can add it to your rims yourself for a michelada flavor… things got creative after a few drinks) — - f o o d — - [ [ dos fish tacos ] ] The fish tacos come with a side of fries or salad(I can’t say no to fries) for $ 8. This was actually more filling than I expected and tasted great! I loved that it wasn’t overly battered or super oily like I’ve had at other places. So thumbs up! [ [ chicken piccata ] ] This $ 15 plate was definitely filling. I only had a bite of my friend’s dish but she really liked her plate. To the point where she wanted to keep eating because it was so good even though she was full. The chicken comes with a piece of toast and a salad. The olives definitely left a strong flavor on the chicken so be wary. Overall, I loved this place and will be back! Oh MAKE A RESERVATION! It fills up quick so make sure you get a spot with a reservation. Super easy to make through Unilocal

Cool spot. Attractive servers & staff. The bartender looked like she could’ve been a Vogue model or a kick ass lady DJ. I didn’t try the food, but the old fashioned was pretty good. I’ll mark this spot as a revisit when I’m in the area.

Just came in here while waiting for a friend to eat at the Poke Place across the way. It’s a cool bar — has a band playing music. There’s also TV’s with sports on so I had a white sangria(always $ 9 happy hour) and watched the NBA finals while I waited for my friend. White sangria was nice and refreshing. Bartenders were nice. Overall cool bar, chill atmosphere and good drinks!

This place has the best happy hour in Pasadena. Every Tuesday Thursday and Friday they have $ 3 martinis and well drinks as well as some tasty finger foods. I took away one star because I’ve been charged a different price for the same drink every single time I’ve gone. The 1st time, I ordered old fashions with whatever well bourbon they have. The bartender said she could make them for an additional dollar. $ 4 old fashions, I’ll take it. The next time I visited, I sat on the comfy couch and ordered the same drinks. This time they were $ 3. Awesome. The most recent visit, a different bartender said she had to charge me $ 5 because the Tuesday and Thursday happy hours had different prices. I called her out on it and she said I could talk to the bar manager but I refused. A $ 5 old fashion in Pasadena is still a good deal. Here’s where things got weird. We ended up sitting down to order food and we got our usual old fashions. This time they rang up at almost $ 8 per. We told the waitress(who was very nice) that we are getting charged left and right for the same drinks and she took half off the drink order. There was a side note on the happy hour menu that some drinks will cost $ 5 instead of $ 3 but they only listed vodka. Nothing about bourbon. Check your receipts since no one seems to know how much they should be charging.

I need to go back through my Unilocal reviews to see if I’ve ever given 5 stars, if I did, how long has it been??? This was by far the best meal I’ve had out in a long, long time. My husband and I are from San Diego and came to Universal Studios for my birthday today. We decided to stay overnight, so after we checked into our hotel we looked for a place to grab a birthday dinner. I found this place walking around Old Town Pasadena and saw it had great reviews onYelp. It was no lie. First, the service was fantastic! Our server Alicia was great! She was pleasant and just full of personality. such a sweetheart! We ordered the calamari, Mac n cheese and the Shepherds pie… all to share. The food came… and wow!!! The calamari was the best damn calamari I have ever had, and we’ve had a lot of calamari done all sorts of different ways. It came with a side of chili sauce, like a sweet chili sauce. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of the side of marinara or tomato sauce usually served so I usually just squirt lemon on it… NOTTHISTIME. It was lightly coated and cooked perfectly. Sometimes you’ll get calamari that has a bit of a floury or powdery texture or taste, or it’s too heavily battered… was not the case here!!! It was perfection! The Mac n cheese was cheesy but not overwhelming and not too rich. perfect! The shepherd’s pie was amazing. It had a light sauce, the veggies were not overcooked and the potato topping was light yet just a little dense enough to carry the meat/veggie mixture. Well we were members of the clean plate club… we didn’t leave one crumb and we were satisfied, not stuffed. Two thumbs up, five stars and a hell yeah from me! I would recommend this place, highly recommend!

I was excited to try this place after seeing it on one of those restaurant reality shows! My party and I arrived on a Saturday around 530pm and were seated right away. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. We ordered mac n cheese, calamari, pulled pork sandwich, and the grilled chicken panini. Overall, the food was okay. Our calamari came to the table with no lemon or sauce, we had to ask our waitress for it, and it was bland. The rest of our food was just alright, kind of forgettable in a way. It reminded me of «bar food» and not really good«bar food» for that matter, which was surprising to me given the recent rebranding. Maybe it was what we ordered, but the service was pretty good. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, even if it did take awhile for our food to come out. I gave it 3 stars because of service but in reality I think the food only deserves 2 stars.

This place was I’m pretty judgmental when I eat out because I work in a restaurant — the first few minutes determines how the service is. The owner, Teddy greeted us and walked us to our table(for 3). It looked like there were only 2 – 3 servers and 1 food runner. About 10 minutes had passed by and nobody greeted us. Teddy came back and asked if were okay and if someone had started taking our orders yet. We said no and he took into his own hands to start us with our bottomless mimosas. Teddy came back a few minutes later with our server and she started taking our food order. Mimosas and food came out at a properly time, however not all of our food seemed like it was«fresh» or «made to order» because our sliders were really delicious but it was just warm instead of hot. Along with our sliders, we also order French fries, mac and cheese, and crispy chicken. Again the food tasted okay, I think it could use a little bit more seasoning but our food really just tasted warm instead of hot. The bottomless mimosas is the reason why I wanted to try this place. I think starting your day with champagne is the best way! My girlfriends and I ordered: mango, apple, lychee, strawberry lemonade, blue one, apple+pomogranete, and lychee+apple. DEFINITELY get lychee or apple(or together) because they are flavored saki mixed with the champagne and it’s really delicious. The other flavors weren’t bad but to be honest, they tasted a bit watered down. *NOTE* Bottomless mimosas don’t have to be ordered with the brunch items, you can have it with entrees too!

I used to love this place — we’ve been at least a half dozen times. But when you walk in at 11 on a Sunday and the ENTIRE place is completely empty and you still can’t get a seat??? No. Just, no. Every table(including the lounge) was completely reserved. We won’t be back. :( PS. Wow! The response I received from this restaurant! You’d think he’d be at least a little more gracious, maybe even slightly apologetic. Sheesh! And it goes without saying, but not having a single table open for walk-ins is just a bad business model.

Stopped by this gastropub during Happy Hour after appointments in the area. Located in the alley of Mills Place. There was some outdoor seats, but we opted to sit inside. The brick walls are covered with unique artwork and the place is lit up with Edison Lightbulbs. We were told to pick where we wanted to grab a seat. Cool. It was«Foreplay Fridays,» thus, Happy Hour was 4pm-7pm. $ 3 Martinis, mixed drinks, bottled beers & appetizers. We ordered a couple of grapefruit vodkas and they were refreshing(grapefruit juice tasted fresh) and for only $ 3, we were thrilled. As for the Happy Hour appetizers, we ordered 1 of everything; Potstickers, Shrimp Springrolls, Chicken Lumpia, Veggie Egg Rolls and Chicken Satay. Our favorites were the Chicken Lumpia & Veggie Egg Rolls(we ordered a second round of those 2). The Potstickers wrapper was a bit too thick and chewy and we weren’t fans of the Chicken Satay. Service was great and she kept the drinks flowing.

Wow! Wow! Wow! That is what I have to say about this restaurant. I think that it is best that you call and make reservations. It is a hole in the wall, small place with outdoor and bar seating, but if there are any special events going on or special occasions to be celebrated, this place could fill up fast. You are able to make reservation through Unilocal!Very convenient. Although I did make a reservation, I chose to sit at the bar. The bar was fully stocked and their bar menu was filled with variety. The bar seemed to be the focal point of the restaurant. I was amazed to see their collection. They have happy hour every day of the week, but it appears that bottomless mimosas are only on the weekends… and again, there were a variety of flavors for that as well. I had the strawberry lemonade; it was very refreshing and good. There were a couple of TV screens-food network channel and the news were on while I was there. The décor was a rustic theme with paintings of naked women from way back when. I loved the lights that hung low and the flowers that greeted us in the front. There seemed to be an Asian fusion with a Buddah on the bar counter and an Indonesian waterfall. I had the chicken sandwich, which was on their lunch menu. it was good! It had melted parmesan cheese on top with a sweet tomato aioli sauce paired with french fries and coleslaw. AMAZING! Robert was our waiter. He was friendly, funny, and very attentive. He made us laugh a few times we interacted with him. Shout out to Robert! Your service was greatly appreciated. Another great thing about being on Unilocal… I got 15% off with checking in. That saved me a few bucks.

So my fiancé and I came here as we were continuing our day drinking shenanigans after Monsterpalooza on Saturday, and I have to say, this is a really awesome restaurant. We walked in and noticed they had happy hour which was at the bar. As we walked in, a gentleman in a white shirt — who we later found out to be the owner — asked us how many and we requested 2 for the bar. He immediately looked and noticed there was only one seat with ample room, so he went and grabbed anotehr chair and sat us down within a minute. We had more than enough space in between each other and definitely between the other guests; it pleasantly surprised us because it was fast problem-solving, with a totally congenial demeanor that didn’t hint of insincerity. The atmosphere is to die for. It’s very intimate, which I absolutely love, with music piping at a really appropriate level. Edison bulbs illuminate the restaurant just enough, with a lot of warm wood and dark metal. It is really similar to a lot of restaurants in its aesthetic, but it holds together really well because of the restaurant’s smaller size. There are old-timey paintings and photographs that adorn the walls and it’s just somewhere you feel welcome and want to stay. Service itself was also really strong. The bartenders acknowledged us immediately, left us alone while we wanted to be, but noticed our cues quickly. If it wasn’t one person, it was definitely another. We just ordered some fries to keep us going, and we asked for a side of ketchup + ranch and that was probably the least amount of time I’ve ever waited for a condiment. Literally less than a minute! My fries were still hot! Additionally, the owner came up to us while we were winding down and chatted with us for a bit, and excellently disengaged when the moment was right. Food: well, we only really ordered french fries, but I will say that those were pretty excellent and I could have easily ordered another side. Excellently seasoned and fried, they make a great accompaniment to your beverage of choice and are reasonably priced. We did notice that they have a dim sum brunch that I am very much looking forward to try: enough of a reason to probably go back to Pasadena, from the valley, just to try it out. All in all, it was a simple stop on our drinking adventure, but it was such a pleasant surprise. I’d recommend you to try it out because it just might become one of your favorite places in Old Town, just like it became ours. It’s going to be hard to pick between this and White Horse :)

For the price I paid to have a nice meal here, it wasn’t really nice at all. I didn’t get that fancy vibe, and the service wasn’t that great. The server who came out with one of our dishes actually dropped the plate onto the floor right next to me, and he also cursed after that happened too. I understand it was an accident, but the staff never really did anything to make our experience better. For the same price, I can go to a pretty nice and classy restaurant. The reviews here were pretty misleading.

Just a bit of ok. Edwin Mills(by Equator — not sure why we have to keep saying that, but wtvr) maintains the nice aesthetic of it’s former space, but I feel like the menu is a little bit confused as to what it wants to be. With a mixture of asian, american and mexican, it’s a bit much. I definitely shouldn’t be able to have dim sum and mac n cheese at the same place. I get the whole fusion thing is big, but this is excessive. About the food: Not a terrible selection and pricing is ok. The food itself varied. I enjoyed the mac n cheese and the braised short rib, but the fried rice was just meh and the calamari was just not good. I did enjoy my Autumn’s Old Fashioned, and my friends had some good beers, so drink selection isn’t bad + they have ½ off wines on Wednesdays i believe. All in all this as an ok experience, but not a must try, especially in an area with so many great restaurants. Stay Cheerful ;)

Throughout the whole time, we were not greeted or taken care of. I even waved at the bartender. She just looked at me while she finished consuming her shot. This is an update to my previous review in response to Teddy’s(the owner of Edwin Mills) response to my previous review. I have not gone back there but I would like to respond to Teddy’s response. First of all, in Teddy’s response, he mentioned the company of where I work. I did not mention anywhere on in the comment where I work. This is really creepy, scares me and is making me think that the owner is looking me up. Second of all, Teddy mentioned in his response that I was accusing his company. In my previous review, I was not making any accusations. I wrote my true experience at Edwin Mills. My poor experience was not Teddy’s fault. It was the waitress’ fault for inputting false orders on my tab. The waitress even admitted to her fault and there were items on the receipt that the waitress removed due to her mistakes. Third of all, Teddy said he was going to blackmail me and put pictures from facebook of my coworkers and me having fun at Edwin Mills(which there are and were none… and quite frankly is very scary of Teddy to even mention…). When a business owner stumps that low as to blackmail a customer and even talk to a customer like he did, it shows his immaturity and childish behavior. Teddy’s response makes me want to go there less and respect this place a lot less. I expected more from a business owner. In conclusion, I don’t wish any harm or bad business to this bar. I just hope the owner can take a chill pill, calm down and accept his and his bar’s shortcomings. There will be positive experiences and there will be negative experiences. No one is perfect and no place is perfect. Unilocal is a place to write about our experiences, not to blackmail customers. I hope the owner can take these negative reviews as constructive opportunities to improve his bar instead of being an angry man and blackmailing the customers who write these reviews.

Went back again today to Edwin Mills. The host hesitantly gave us a table for two b/c we did not have reservations. Red flag #1. We were seated and asked for water to start. The waitress was quick about taking our order for 3 Dim sum dishes and a side of broccoli. 30 minutes passed by and still no sign of our food. I finally got a hold of a waitress and asked that she check on our food. She came back to apologize for the wait and that our food will be coming out soon. Red flag #2. 10 minutes later the waitress stopped by again, this time placing the blame on the new waitress. I told her that she’s not the problem and it’s actually the small kitchen/kitchen staff that’s too slow. I mean really, if the food isnt ready what can a waitress do… whether your a novice or veteran. Told them if we didnt get our food in 5 min we’d be leaving. Waiting over 30 min is ridiculous and unacceptable. I overheard the waitresses he cook was sending them away… obviously in over his head. We left. With no food in sight and only an apologetic wait staff. Ladies, apologies don’t satisfy an appetite. I suggest staff not place blame on one another, that the restaurant get more help in the kitchen and have their food prepped.

Dear Teddy, Hah! There you go, Bully. It doesn’t matter what you did in the past or which boards you serve on. What matters is how you treat people who are in your care. As owner of Edwin Mills, your responsibility is to address the concerns of your stakeholders: your customers. As I originally said, i am on the same page as you regarding Barbara’s primary issue. She should have budgeted better. My concern is about how you responded to a fellow customer, belittling and blackmailing her. Oh and the snarky comment about dimdum. Its really entertaining that you have to be that juvenile to make your point. Thoroughly entertaining and kind of pathetic, really. Ever heard of a typo? I have two masters degrees, and a series of achievements that I don’t feel the need to list in order to make my point, unlike you. FYI posting someone’s pictures without their explicit permission is against the law. Threatening to do it for malicious reasons is considered blackmail. Therefore, I am boycotting your establishment and encourage others to do the same. Yours sincerely, A Pasadena resident who works in the area and will never bring her business to Edwin Mills due to your ****** attitude

What can I say about this place that I haven’t said before? The only thing that has improved since the redesign, is that instead of five pages of inedible food it’s now only a single page. The owner is so stubborn that instead of accepting constructive criticism he only pretends to do so, and then goes back to the way things were after the remodel. That brings him down from two stars to one star: penalty for refusing to listen to good advice. I came here last Sunday and had the most disgusting dish I had ever eaten at this place, and that’s saying a lot considering how bad their food usually is. The potato wrapped snapper was vileness dipped in horror, fried in abomination and served on a whipped bed of wretchedness. I have had tastier and more recognizable food in Kiev in the months following the Chernobyl disaster. In fact, speaking of Soviet disasters, the mashed sweet potato recalled something the gulags feed the prisoners in a Solzhenitsyn novel. Why didn’t I say anything? Why didn’t I return it. Because I’ve said it not only on national television, but in three other Unilocal reviews, and it’s done no good. Teddy is impervious to all reason. I can only assume that serving cheap booze keeps him in business; that and return customers who have had their taste buds obliterated by previous meals.

I Would like to point out that the manager/owner/staff of this restaurant are nothing more that bullies. I got 2 private messages from someone who claims to work at Edwin Mills basically telling me that I am very wrong in my review and threatening how this could have an effect on my reputation. As for the manager who replied to my review, you clearly have no clue how to deal with customers. I’ve been here more than once and I said I will not be returning FORBRUNCH. I believe this is a free country and I am entitled to my opinion, like everyone else. I was planning on giving this place another shot for dinner, but the manager made it perfectly clear that I am not welcome at their establishment. I have been dining in South Pasadena(I actually lived there for a year and a half) and I have never experienced such rude and abusive behavior from a restaurant. Be aware, everyone, if you write a bad review for this place, the manager and staff WILL get nasty with you. Stay away.

This is the perfect place for brunch –especially for all my basics out there. I made reservations for four on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate one of my good friend’s birthday. The waiter was this perky and silly blonde dude, and he was very nice to help accommodate us to a different table from our original seats. The restaurant is a lot smaller than I expected, but its a cozy little spot with rustic features. Of course we started off with the bottomless mimosas. FYI, you can order anything off the menu and not only their brunch items to pair with the mimosas. They offer the regular orange and champagne mimosas for $ 10, or upgrade to a variety of flavored mimosas for $ 15. Although I stuck to the regular mimosas, two of my other friends did go for the upgrade and I was able to try a little bit of theirs’ as well. If you’re planning to drink a lot, I’d say to definitely give the upgrade a try because the mimosas come in a carafe per order. And no, each carafe is not for sharing –you get your own individual one! Each one fills up about 3 – 4 glasses as well, so be prepared to finish the carafe before ordering a new flavor. As for food, I ordered the Spiced Pull Pork Sandwich($ 13), which also came with fries. I’m a sucker for fries and they were delicious here. I only wish they gave me more fries! The sandwich is actually burger buns, but so yummy nonetheless. I actually preferred it as a burger than a sandwich. The pulled pork was so tender and mixed with a spicy cole slaw, which gave it such flavor. The meal was heavy, but I definitely needed that with all the mimosas I was drinking. I will definitely be back to try the other items and of course the mimosas, yum!

Admittedly, I’ve been hanging out in Pasadena a lot lately and Edwin Mills is another solid establishment proving me I shouldn’t stop coming here. Sadly, past Friday night will be the last trip to the Old Town. After a light dinner at The White Horse, we were looking for another chilling spot to spend the rest of the night. We heard lively jazz music from distant. Immediately, we walked into the alley and decided to give this place a try… There’re some tables outside perfectly for people watching on those easy nights, some cozy couches next to the bar, and a stage for live bands. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. I asked him to make me something with whiskey and he made me a delicious Manhattan cocktail and one of the signatures called Up the Creek for my drinking partner. We enjoyed everything from lightings, good music and great service. Highly recommend if you’re not a big fan of super loud and not too crowded bars. Look up Edwin Mills and you won’t be disappointed.

What a fun place! Starting with great atmosphere… Teddy gave us the history of the location and how they have kept the décor to pay homage to its history. Both Teddy and Robert do all they can to make sure you enjoy your dining experience. They were friendly and entertaining with superb hosting skills.

After my experience today, I will most definitely not be returning to Edwin Mills. I absolutely love dim sum, and I had read online that Edwin Mills served dim sum for brunch on the weekends. I hadn’t even heard of this place, and was so excited to find dim sum so close to my house. I made a reservation for 11:00 and when I walked in the place was pretty empty. The hostess nicely told us that we had a seat reserved just for us and point to a nice table in the corner. Then, who I’m assuming was the manager, a man came running up and said loudly, «No, I want that table for the regulars, put them back there» and pointed to the table in the back next to the restrooms. Now, not only was I offended, because he was talking pretty loudly and harshly, but, what the heck? If I were a manager and I wanted new customers, I wouldn’t punish new people with seats by the bathroom and act rudely when they come in. I would want them to have the best experience possible. And even if he had promised that seat to someone else, there is a much more polite way of saying it. Despite being put off by the rude customer service, I was still craving dim sum so we sat down. We waited a longer time than usual for the dim sum, and then finally got our food. The food was fine until I cut into the BBQ pork bun and out fell a small fly. There was a gnat sitting in the pool of soy sauce, and it was disgusting. We told the waitress and she comp’d that one dish– but at that point we didn’t want to eat anything else. We left, and I promise I won’t be back. Between the bug in my food, and rude welcoming, I would avoid this place.

Wow! What a great little spot. My friend found this place(I think via Unilocal, but may have been from somewhere else) as we were in search of a mimosa brunch. $ 10 for unlimited mimosas(literally some of my favorite word combinations ever) for 2 hours max. They also have flavored mimosas for an upcharge of an extra $ 5, but we were perfectly content with the standard OJ mimosas. We had the pleasure of being attended to by George, who was very nice, accommodating, efficient, and attentive! We ordered the following: Braised Pork Belly $ 11: YUM! This was delicious! The meat was tender and flavorful and the skin was deliciously crispy. It was served on a bed of sautéed spinach, which was slightly too salty, but not inedible. Fred’s Popcorn Chicken $ 11: This was also great– they were more of mini popcorn chicken strips, but I did like how they were tossed with some spicy peppers. A generous portion! Shrimp Siu Mai(2 pieces) $ 3 Pan Fried Pork Dumpling(3 pieces) $ 3 Vegetable Egg Roll(2 pieces) $ 3 Call me biased about dim sum, living close to one of the hearts of dim sum central in Rowland Heights, it’s difficult to compete. The dim sum dishes(that we tried here) were good, but a little steep in price in comparison to a lot of other things on the menu that they offer. Though a great idea to offer such a wide variety of cuisines for different tastes, I don’t think I would return for the dim sum in the future(but will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes and for the mimosas!)
