This place sucked so bad… service was non-existent– glad it closed down… not even worth a review.

This was the home for the New England West Patriots fan club for nearly 6 years… it was with sad hearts that many of us gathered together for the official last night back in April. If any of the PATS fans are wondering where we went to please join us over at Barney’s Beanery for the games… you may see a familiar face or two from Jake’s! =} GOPATSGO!

I’m so sad to find out Jake’s is CLOSED. Many great friendships was made here and along with years of memories. It can’t be beat by $ 12 an hour pool table and the best Black & Tan beer drink. Very Sad… you will be miss. Apparently due to rising real estate cost…

This is a cool old diner reminiscent of the 1940’s. Unfortunately the menu hasn’t been updated since then. They don’t offer lettuce wrap burgers or sweet potato fries or zucchini fries. The wait time was far too long for fast food and barely anyone in the diner. I wanted a lemon in my water and of course they don’t have that either. Disappointed

I feel like this place has declined over the years, or maybe my standards have gotten higher. It’s a small little joint and one long wall has a window lined with bar-style seating; there are a few tables both inside and outside the establishment, depending on what kind of seating you prefer. I’ve always enjoyed the build-your-own clipboard menus they have. When I first started coming here a few years ago, I always left happy with the service and quality of food. My burger arrived as specified and I liked that it was my own special combination of toppings(avocado, mushrooms, and caramelized onions with swiss). The second-to-the-last time I came, my burger arrived cold and the fries were soggy. Service was slow and inattentive even though it wasn’t very busy. The last time I visited was on a Friday night; it was pretty empty. My burger arrived looking smushed, cold, and unappetizing. They had gotten the combination wrong and when I told them, they just removed the extra items and gave me the same sad burger back. I ate in a rush and just wanted to leave. Needless to say I have no interest in returning and hope that most customers aren’t getting the same subpar quality food and service.

OHMAN! I had passed this place once or twice. It wasn’t until a week ago that I was out with some co-workers that we decided to stop in here. They had all been here before but I hadn’t. First of all I had NOIDEA that there was a huge ass downstairs. The place was ginormous. Tons of pool tables, amble room between them, a bar downstairs. This place is legit. It was also pretty clean for a pool hall. Floors were in pretty good shape, not sticky. We played a few games and while that was happening one of my friends went to order some food, enough for all of us. This was another HOLYCRAP moment, food is is totally amazing, I have to admit I may have had a few drinks too many so when I got a hold of these culinary delights, I mashed them hard into my mouth just barely tasting them, but from what I remember it was really freaking delicious. The burgers were really great came in slider format I believe, the fries were some of the best fries that I have ever had, wings were pretty good, could have been a bit crispier. Overall this place is an awesome stop in Old Town Pasadena, there are a ton of flashier places out there but this place is definitely a must stop for me. I will be back here.

Not the best first impression. Came here with a friend and wanted to order sliders and fries. Nothing special. About 10 minutes later someone finally took our order. 15 minutes later we were informed that our order fell from their list and had to get made, and then the end product was quite disappointing(look at picture). The waitress helped the situation by throwing the fries in for free. Unfortunately, the meat in the sliders was about 80% bread, there was more pickle than meat and the fries needed quite a bit of sauce to help go down. Deserves a two star but giving a three for benefit of a doubt. Still willing to try this place again as perhaps it was a rough day.

Been here more times than I’d like. It’s self torture, really. We mainly come to play pool and for the drinks. The bar is always jam packed and if you don’t arrive early enough, you’ll be lucky to even get a pool table. The women’s restroom is cramp and aesthetically not very pleasing. It’s a dive bar with pool tables(plural) which is cool; that’s what keeps us coming back for more. Service can be somewhat non-existent, so we don’t bother waiting for them to come around. I usually go straight to the bar, give the bartender a little wink, grab my drinks, and go. They do make good drinks. Overall, come with an open mind and don’t expect much. Just have fun.

Okay so I’ve been coming here semi frequently, yet off and on for the past 5 year, so this review is cumulative. Over the years I’ve had plenty of drinks, and food and have played my fair share of pool here too. I came here this past Saturday and decided it’s time Jake’s gets its due. First off the food: I’ve had their hotdogs, burgers, fries, chili cheese fries and shakes. I’m a burger enthusiast, mean I pretty much order a burger anywhere I go, Jake’s never disappoints. Their meat is always flavorful, buns are always fresh and veggies always crisp. Starting at $ 7, price will change as you add your goodies. The fries are good, chili cheese fries are really good. Crisp(not for long) fries piled up with meaty chili that packed with beans, tomato, corn, and peppers. It can be a little salty. They’ll set you back about $ 5. Milkshakes are okay, noting amazing. Though they have a shake of the month that can be pretty creative. On various weeknights they have different things going on, Karaōke, open mic, trivia, kick ball related gatherings? Etc.

I’m always seen his place walking down Colorado and with much this was just a typical burger joint. My last my buddy David brought me here to play pool. There’s a pool table where?! It’s down stairs! The lady batman female bartender was pretty cool. The beers on tap I liked. They only had 6 beers on tap but they were two good IPAs. I love the music that they played, sound underground or down temp hip hop something. It sounded pretty dope. Well come back and ill bring more friends!

One of the better spots in Pasadena where you can come and drink, the billiards area located in the back after going down some stairs is very spacious. They have plenty of pool tables and a big enough bar to grab your drinks to chill and hangout. They also play hip hop music when I was there with my friends, and the rate for pool came out to around $ 14 when we played for about an hour and a half. They have plenty of alcoholic choices to choose from, I just stuck with the casual beers you normally see at markets, it was about $ 12 for 2 beers. I didn’t get any food, but if you want their burgers, their restaurant is located upstairs that resembles a burger diner.

Good service and their hot dogs are bomb af! I love the way the food was presented. Usually from typical hot dog joints, the presentation of the hot dogs look sloppy and gross. But from here, it looked so cute! It’s a pretty good price too. I paid like $ 5 for mine. I’ll definitely be back to try out their burgers.

Excellent service and good burgers Our server was very helpful and for our first time he made the experience super easy. The place was busy and we sat outside since we had our pug with us. The food was tasty and fast served. By that account, we also fast ate them. We will come back again to Jakes to try more burgers. Thanks for the speedy and friendly service and the delicious burgers!

Somehow, I’ve been back in Old Town Pasadena for a year, but never had lunch at Jake’s. I needed a quick lunch AND had to stop by the Apple store, so Jake’s just made sense. Ordering is a little like the counter — pick meat, bun, toppings, cheese, sauce OR just get a Jake’s original with lettuce/tomato/pickle/1000 island and be done with it. I decided to get a Jake’s original with a soda and no french fries. The burger was absolutely delicious. I really, really enjoy places that have chilled lettuce/tomato/pickle but toasted buns. If you like that level of detail, Jake’s will not disappoint. Yes, I should have splurged on some cheese that day, but I was on a mission to save calories & get stuff done. The soda machine is that freakin’ awesome million different flavors Coke machine, and it took a lot of self-control to get 1 Dr. Pepper and stop there. Why why why did I avoid this place for 1 year? It’s totally going on the lunch rotation.

If you’re looking to shoot some pool in Pasadena, you’ll have better luck getting a table at Jake’s than, say, at the 35er(2 tables on main level) or Barney’s(one table on the main level, 10+ tables on the second level at Qs — that place gets packed!) This dive bar/pool hall is a little tricky to find the first time around. It’s on the Colorado strip in Old Town. There’s an adjoining burger joint to it and you walk down the alley a bit to get to the bar entrance. Ironically, there’s a bar across from this place called ‘Bar’. Go figure. Jake’s usually has a dj on weekends and it has a pretty casual vibe. Tables are $ 10/hour. You hand over your ID and pay when you return the billiards. They have 10+ decent tables and the layout of this place is divided into three sections, the bar area and two pool areas. It’s a pretty fun place to enjoy a few games, but the drinks here suck. It’s a dive bar, so don’t expect anything fancy. As far as the staff goes, the bouncers are pretty friendly here. I’ve been to Jake’s a few times and my interactions with them have been consistently good. On one occasion, one of them even managed to hook me up with a table free of charge for the night. Score!

I’ve always known this place to be «the place in Pasadena to shoot pool.» I’m horrible at pool, but my friends and I decided to come here for one of my buddy’s birthdays. You make your way down the steps into Jake’s. They have karaōke, pool, and a bar. It felt like a house party in someone’s basement. It was a little musty(actually, a lot musty). The people karaoking seemed like they were having a blast. The drinks are cheap, but I probably won’t be coming back unless someone else wants to shoot pool. Just really not my scene. But hey, if you like pool, this could be yours.

The burgers here at most are mediocre. The ratio is about right but the taste is a little too heavy and the buns were some what burnt. Had the fries and they were average. In and out might even be better… but they serve alcohol here and it has an outside patio. The sliders are equivalent to four small burgers. I’ve had better burgers.
