I have a mixed feeling about this place. As soon as I stepped in I realized I was under dressed. Unlike many other sushi places that have traditional Japanese décor, this place is new and modern. It’s a great spot to go on a date at. The service is very quick. We ordered fire dragon which is very creative and tasty. I wasn’t a fan of nigiri combo because the fish pieces all had different temperature and didn’t taste very fresh. With that said, I would still give the place a second chance.

Came Saturday night. Blue Fish was bustling with energy and after just a 10 minute wait, we were seated. Great Atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive. Blue Fish Mojito was excellent along with hot tea and perfect edamame appetizer. Ordered the 15 piece Sashimi dinner along with a Caterpillar roll. The fish was probably the best quality sushi I had ever had. Perfect taste, texture, and freshness. Presentation was excellent as was the chocolate cake and green tea ice cream we had for dessert. An excellent dining experience.

Stopped in with a friend at her suggestion. We had the scallop app which was delish. She had a bunch of sushi that I have no idea what it was. I had the filet minion which was delish but undercooked. The potato cakes that came with were so good. Miso soup and side salad with ginger dressing yummy. The cucumber lemon martini and blu fish mojito were soo good. Will definitely stop again

This is hands down one of my favorite sushi places. I will say it is a bit on the pricier side, but it is definitely worth it if you are looking for quality sushi. White dragon, spicy tuna and rainbow rolls are my standby rolls that I typically will get from here. They also have great lunch specials that are really reasonable in price. This place is right down the street from my work so we order out from here pretty regularly for lunch. Bento lunch boxes also come with a house salad that has the most delicious dressing it will make you want to ask to buy a bottle of it. Atmosphere inside is also a plus. Nice big booths and it’s never too loud. Service here is generally great as well. I’ve only had one negative experience with a waitress but it was a busy day during lunch and I figure, maybe she was new. The parking lot is almost always full but I can almost always easily find street parking right out front during the day. If it’s dinner time you’re better off just parking in the underground garage.

In the name of Blu… B: eware, the menu(lunch specific one too!) is extensive. Lots of hot and sushi offerings, including whether you want your roll short(small) or long(large). L: ook for parking along NW Highway or in the back behind the building(always forget about that entrance). U: niquest thing about my chicken teriyaki bento was the kimchi tortellini. Never had that before! The California roll was ordinary, and fried rice was on the slightly greasy sise.

My first real Japanese food. I have read extensively from my Japanese friends on the uniqueness of their style of food. Thus causing me to want to try some interesting foods. I ordered the broiled eel with black rice. As a part of the meal I was given a traditional Japanese salad which I love. The eel was interesting. I don’t think it will make the Paul K. list of things I want to eat again. It was not distasteful. The texture of the eel was not bad it was the image of an eel that kept going around in my head. Eel looks like a snake in my mind thus I was at two levels of bad thoughts. The black rice was a whole another deal. While I ate the eel in total I could not come to grips with the black rice. There was some sauce that was just off. It may well have been a fish sauce that was causing my displeasure but really I don’t know. As for authenticity to Japan I did get a laugh from having to ask for a knife and fork just like when I visited Japan.

Pros: There is some great Sushi and Service at Bluefish. The young lady dressed as a shark at the hostess stand is a perfect fit for halloween! «Hide» is a sushi master! When I get sushi near my house it is always Bluefish sushi. Cons: The price is a little high. I would like to see a tv with sports, or listen to live music on some nights and a larger fillet on the Unagi Don.

This place is nice as far as sushi restaurants go. The staff is really great(Mary is an awesome hostess!) and the food is good. I ordered fried rice and an avocado roll. There’s not a ton of vegetarian(no fish) options for sushi, as long as you’re find with avocado/avo-cucumber rolls.

This place is awesome! Upset that I didn’t try this restaurant sooner. Loved the décor. Loved the sushi. Our server was very friendly and even didn’t mind when we asked him to take some photos of our group. I will be coming back.

I think it helps to have a good experience according to the company you keep, and in this case I had outstanding company. I can’t digest gluten and I made this clear to the server and in turn he told the chef; even though all of this is true, my date asked every time, to make clear, if there was any gluten present in the dishes. I had the oyster shot, which was delicious. There is a little quail egg and Mexican salsa in the shot. I really loved this delicious morsel. We had other appetizers that were very good; shrimp, scallops and chicken skewers which were delightful and tender. We also had the Blue Crab roll, which, I feel was my favorite. My date had a yummy salad made with cucumbers and mint, which he enjoyed. The saki menu is optimal, of course we had the best on the menu, Daiginjo.

This was a really great find. It is not cheap but the place is so clean and the food is so fresh and I liked the environment Their sake menu is decent and we had the Drunken Snapper sake in a can which is a viscous and tasty sake. One of my favorites We did a medley of Uni and oyster shooters with ponzu and spicy picante sauce with a quail egg on top that was SOGOOD!!! The edamame was cooked perfect The Uni sushi was so fresh The sashimi plate with majuro, hamachi etc was good. Not on par with the other things we ate The soft shell crab and the steak tataki were excellent All in all we loved our food, the restaurant and the service Next time I am in the area and in the mood for sushi I will definitely come back

On way from Chicago to rivers casino, my girlfriend decided she wanted to eat sushi. Naturally by the help of Unilocal and proximity search we came across blufish. This place has a pretty nice ambience that plays lounge type music. That’s about the end of where my positives run. The occupancy was about 90% but took about 15 minutes to get our waiter to recognize we were here. After placing our orders the appetizer(beef roll and asparagus) came through relatively quick. Unfortunately the beef was overcooked although wasn’t horrible tasting. We than waited about 30 minutes for our main entrée, being hungry, I ordered 7 rolls including spicy salmon and spicy tuna, both having too much sesame oil added and as much rice in the roll as those all you can eat buffets. The green turtle was okay. Sorry… I just finished this meal and already forgot the other rolls. Needless to say, I was not inspired nor did it hit the spot. We ordered two sides of the uni and yellowtail. For $ 3.5 each piece, I would have thought the quality could have been much better. The uni was very runny and the yellowtail was cut razor thin. I might have to disclose that i come from the east coast where there’s a lot more access to fresh fish as well as greater competition but I do believe my rating is justified. I will also make the analogy that this place is as good as a Chinese restaurant that caters to primarily a non-Asian demographic and has orange/general tso as their dish specialty.

Love the cool atmosphere. The low music and the low flattering lightening. We started with the tuna tartare which was amazing. He waitress told us this was the most popular appetizer and I can see why. I would get it again. The bottom is spicy and has mini fish eggs in it– love the flavor and crunchy texture. The top had some tuna rolled up. It was ok. It came with a sauce. The miso soup comes in a very small serving bowl which was appreciated since I wanted to save room. The salad mix was beautiful but the ginger dressing was disappointing. I would skip the salad next time. The dragon roll came to the table on fire. It was delicious. The soft shell crab had obviously been made was warm. The salmon sunshine roll was also delicious but the crab inside was creamy and I think had mayo. I don’t prefer that. We ordered the 9 piece sashimi. They ask what you don’t want but specifically tell you that you cannot order what you want. The manager came over and clarified this and asked more specifically what we didn’t want. It seemed like more conversations on this topic than necessary. But in the end, it was all good. I agree with the reviewer on the sugary drinks. Although i am still finding my way through the menu, I will be back– this is a great sushi option when in the area.

Came here during a Friday during lent and it was pretty packed. Ended up just eating at the bar since there was no wait. Wasn’t the best service there though, and I was right next to the clean dishes, so I had servers standing next to me the whole time. So I’d say if you are willing to wait for a table, that’s probably better for your overall experience. Though it was pretty entertaining to was the sushi chefs at work. I was literally just staring at them and admiring the art. Anyway, on to the food. Ended up getting the crispy rice spicy tuna appetizer, a mini me roll, a special spicy tuna, and a a sushi A platter. The crispy rice tuna was pretty delicious. I would recommend it as a starter. I’m not really a sushi guy, I would prefer sashimi or nigiri, which is why I got sushi A, but really liked both rolls that I got. I like how you can get half rolls too at a cheaper price since you can try more things. Ended up getting sushi A as a filler and even though it was all basic, still delicious. I usually tend to avoid sushi joints because they’re pretty expensive, delicious though but expensive, but this place was not too bad at all, and I wasn’t the one that paid that night so 5 stars!

The service was just average, not great and friendly, but they got the job done. The food is just average to be honest. I got the steak skirt salad and it was a little under season and the sushi rice was undercooked for the roll. The atmosphere was very clean and modern, a good lunch area.

I’m usually really pleased with the food & service I receive at Blu Fish(I’ve been here at least 3 other times), but the food I ate yesterday was subpar. Perhaps it was because I usually dine with them for dinner on a weekend and it was my first time eating lunch on a Monday??? Weekends for dinner: I loved their uni shooters! Plus, their food presentation is always beautiful. It’s a great place to dine with a date or a girls night out. Monday for lunch: we all ordered different lunch combinations. Our salads had many chunks of frozen lettuce, the white ginger was turning brown, and the wasabi was turning yellow. My sushi/sashimi combination plate was overpriced for what it contained(look at the picture below).
