All I can say is YUCK. Dirty & not the neighborhood dive bar we used to love. I’d be scared to eat food from here,

This place is pretty much a dive bar. Crappy food, crappy service. I have passed this place time after time on my way to better options in Palm Harbor and will continue to do so from now on.

Ok. Stopped in to try Grumpy’s today for lunch. Met on the way in by the local customers as they were plastered and incoherent(should have been a clue of what’s to come). Seated ourselves. Waited a while for the sole waitress/bartender/barmaid to ask us what we are drinking. Ordered a tap beer(12 oz.) and a Pepsi. Waited too long to order lunch and gave up, so we decided to leave and just pay for the beer and pepsi — WOW $ 10.00 with tip for ONE12OZ. BEER and ONECANNEDPEPSI!!! WTF. Pity for the overworked waitress, she was pleasant though overworked. WILLNOTGOBACK!

The one star here is based on service — or really — lack thereof! Don’t attempt to go here on a busy night. We sat at the Bar for 23 minutes, opposite the cash register. Had great conversation with the folks on both sides of us, but were never acknowledged by any of the four people working behind the small bar. Every bartender had to go to that register to ring up a drink, but never once turned around to see if either us or the folks next to us needed anything. I waved to get a menu, still nothing. It was laughable. Yes — this place is «Grumpy» alright! All the staff looked very unhappy. We left and had a lovely dinner across the street at Fireside Pizza Café.

I haven’t had any food here yet because I was scared off by the other reviews. I wouldn’t send anything back at this place for fear of retaliatory treatment. I feel that they’d give me the«treatment» if I dared send anything back. That being said this place is straight out the back door of the Thirsty Marlin, and a fine place to stop at if you are bar hopping across. But with the Fire Pizza place across the street, Thirsty Marlin with it’s sushi specials and Peggy O’Neils with its wingie specials, I don’t think I’ll ever eat at this shack. Sadly.

Oh how things can change. My favorite local watering hole… food quality/quantity is not consistent. They only serve wine or beer — no hard liquor. Since they replaced Rolling Rock with Miller Lite — I haven’t been back. I won’t order wine, since I’m a bit of a wine snob. As for beer, Rolling Rock was my favorite. Now that it’s gone so am I. it.

This place sucks. First time since Billy’s burger shack left. The service was fair. Have to wait to get my second beer. 7 people total. Have to send dish back. On the other order only half the dish came out. The best thing about this place is the waitress /bartender had big fake boobs

owners, Rick, and Betty have a long history of fighting nearby bisinesses, and towing down town patrons. After a lenght dispute with Billy Jack owners, Rick, and Betty opted to open on thier own. Much time was spent painting and consmetic work… When they finally opened«Grumpy’s» they had ignored the basics… The roof leaks, there are no fans, the food is aweful, the bathrooms leak and smell. The cook is often found sleep at the upper bar and the night staff is completely unattentive. Niether of the owners take the time or effort to learn peoples names or drinking habits. Tap specials are often«out of staock» … On a given night one might have a problem finding parking in down town palm harbor, but take heart… there is always room at Grump’ys as NOONEGOESTHERE !!!

Stopped by for lunch on a hot afternoon. Grumpy’s has replaced Billy Jack’s Burger Shack at this location, and having eating at both(as well as Boyle’s Backyard across the intersection) I far prefer Grumpy’s for their burgers. Grumpy’s is one of the many open-air beach shack bars & grills that are all over FL. This one has lots of covered seating on both sides of the bar and a good number of tables with umbrellas on the side of the building in the open-air section. I try to check these kinds of places out whenever I see one, I arrived not too long after opening, and was immediately greeted by my waitress and the cook. Both couldn’t have been friendlier and we chatted most of the time I was there. The owner, «Grumpy», certainly isn’t, and once he arrived he joined in the conversation, too. Super friendly folks… something you don’t always get at places like this. Service was extremely quick to take my order, and it didn’t take long for my food to arrived, along with my beer. I had an excellent char-grilled burger with thick slices of tomato & onion, cold/fresh lettuce on a toasted onion bun, along with thick-cut fries that were perfectly cooked, light seasoned salt, and not one bit greasy, all for $ 6.95. My only small criticism is the burger was just bit dry, but that didn’t affect the flavor at all. And I wish all burger places had fries this good. Beer was ice cold, and there were about a dozen selections on tap. It all made for a great meal and refreshment on a hot summer day. I don’t get over to this side of Palm Harbor often, but I’ll definitely be back. Hours are 11am-11pm Sun-Thurs, and 11am-till closed on Fri-Sat. I’d give Grumpy’s a 4.5 on my beach shack scale, but for now it’s a 4, and I’ll raise the food & overall rating to 5 if future burgers are just a bit more moist.
