Talon and St. Kathryn are two wineries with differing approaches located in the same place. Talon has more sophisticated wines such as Wingspan Red, a Bordeaux and Portuguese blend while St. Kathryn has sweet fruit wines. Something for everyone, and while some oenophiles are offended at the very thought of a sweet fruit wine in the same appellation as a Bordeaux or Rhone blend, it’s a thoughtful choice since not everyone likes dry reds. But for those who do, there are ample wines of high quality.

I liked the wine a bit less than the adjoining St. Kathryn Cellars, but I stocked up on tons of food gifts here such as jelly, pancake mix, and syrup. Their fudge is delicious too!

Lovely gifts that are very well priced! It’s actually two wineries next to each other and you get five tastings on both sides! St. Katherine’s has very sweet wines which aren’t my taste but they are delicious! The Lear is very good and the Talon pino Grigio is a great balance of fruit forward but not too sweet.

The Gewurtztraminer was very good. The atmosphere was kind of like being in a mall store.

Talon Winery has a wide assortment of wines. The tasting staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and the pours were generous. The two wines we enjoyed most were the Wingspan Red and the Aquila Dessert Wine. Both have Black Portuguese grapes which give them a robust flavor. The dessert wine is sweeter and should be served cold. NOTE: This building includes Talon and St Kathryn wineries and a fudge area(plus gift shops). Go to Talon first, then St. Kathryn and then try the fudge(the tres leches was awesome).

Wasn’t very impressed with the wines here but they had a lot of cool things to buy like honey or salsa. I decided on the fudge as it taunted me from the moment I walked in. Yummyyy fudge! The wine I can skip here

The Colorado Wine Room is the sampling spot for Talon Winery. Located in a small strip mall behind the Colorado Welcome Center(Exit 19 on I-70), this comfortable tasting room samples many of Colorado’s finest wines. Not only are Talon wines available for tasting but the owner even has some of his competition on the bar. What confidence in his great product. Assorted wine accessories are also for sale. The first five samples are free, after that it’s a buck a pour. When you are doing wine tasting in Colorado this is a must stop. Enjoy!
