Really cool little spot with great food and coffee. Not cheap but nothing around is! Worth a visit.

First visit to Paia Bay Coffee. I really wanted to eat breakfast here after looking at the reviews and pictures of the food on Unilocal.Didn’t get up in time to make it for breakfast so had lunch & coffee instead. Enjoyed the coconut flavored iced coffee & turkey sandwich. Will definitely visit again and hope to make it for breakfast next time.

A tucked away, beautiful oasis! This is the perfect place to rest between shops and sip some very strong and delicious coffee under a tropical canopy. Friendly service, top notch java and by far the most serene coffee spot in Paia.

Picked up bagel lox sandwich before hitting the road to Hana! Very, very good! My suggestion… go next door to the gelato place while your bagels are being made to pick up motion sickness pills and a couple of ginger ales for the road. Your trip to Hana will be perfect!

This restaurant is fantastic! Came here with four people for breakfast after watching sunrise on Haleakala :) Our experience at this restaurant was wonderful! Coffee, eggs, bagels — all were delicious. The highlight was the grilled banana bread — not to be missed :) Would absolutely recommend!

No fewer than three signs for the business pointed us down an alley, so we naturally pulled in hoping to park there. We found only a dead end; the very poor signage did not indicate there was no restaurant parking until we were already stuck with no place to turn around. At the end of the alley, an extremely ornery local shouted threats at my wife until we finally managed to back the car out. We had reservations about even setting foot in the coffee shop after this experience, but gave it a try. They had no high chair and were out of ham at 9AM(there goes half the menu!), so we left equal parts hungry and angry. PRO: Narrowly avoided jail time for a fistfight.

I know it’s a coffee shop but I had my coffee for the day already when I came here. However I did order for breakfast the banana nut bread + whip cream + blueberries and croissant + Nutella + banana. AMAZING! The place is very nice and quaint. Great place to hang out.

Best breakfast spot in Paia! A local told us about this spot and it is now one of my favorite spots to eat in Paia. They have the best scrambled eggs and toast! The atmosphere is really cool — it is open air, nice and shady and has lots of greenery all around. Like having breakfast in a garden. We ate there twice during our stay and the first day I ordered a cappuccino which I didn’t love. It seemed a little burnt. The next day I went for a latte and it was really good! They have the absolute best toast so if you go be sure to get some. Paia has so many great restaurants and I would say this is the top spot to go in the morning.

Great atmosphere, really local and chill vibe. Espresso was very tasty — bold, very fruity, probably Moroccan beans. Definitely try the salmon bagel sandwich and the grilled banana bread.(Ours was a bit too grilled, tasting burnt and sort of bitter, but I would try one more time.) This hidden but not secret coffeeshop is a worthwhile stop on the Road to Hana or if you’re living in Paia. This is one of the most popular places in town in the morning, so plan to wait for a table or take your food to go.

This is a hidden little gem. It is quit literally hidden behind some stores but its a great breakfast place. We stopped here before heading out on the road to Hana and had some bagels, the salmon bagel and the bacon were great, some coffee and eggs. We loved the atmosphere, the owners dog was hanging out by the door and you eat in a little court-yard with a small waterfall and garden.

Unlike the Kuau Store down the road, this is actually a nice place to stop before driving the grueling road to Hana(but don’t stop too long!). Very good coffee(I liked the espresso machiatto), nice grilled banana bread and greek yogurt with passionfruit syrup and granola(though I would have liked even more passionfruit). Wifi, bathrooms, chill vibe.

Great atmosphere with its tucked away inner courtyard. My salmon bagel sandwich was delicious and so was the coffee.

I needed a place to while away a few hours in Paia while my friends went to the Garden of Eden. I thought about getting a massage, but then I stumbled upon this place and ended up staying here the whole time jnstead. It was a bit hidden away on the left side of the building. I had to step over someone’s giant wolf dog to get inside. It had rained that morning and the courtyard was already half full, so after I placed my order at the counter, I had trouble finding a dry spot to sit. A friendly person invited me to share their dry table, so I thanked him, sat down, and cracked open the book I brought. The lady at the register brought over my delicious latte when it was ready. My table mate and his companion left, and I invited other people to share the table a little later. It rained some more in spurts over the morning, and I finished my novel and my latte listening to the rain spattering on the leaves and overhang. Clean bathroom, delicious latte, friendly customers… all in all a great place to spend a few early morning hours. If I lived here, I’d be a regular!

LOVE everything about Paia Bay coffee. Amazing outdoor space, great coffee, and outstanding breakfast options. I could go on and on, but I would just be gushing about how perfect this little place is. Go early and enjoy.

The honey decided to stop in here while I checking out the consignment shop across the way. In trying to find him I got a bit lost as the entrance to this shop is through a clothing shop — way back in the back section behind several plants and in a garden. After making my way through the palm fronds and chairs, I ordered a delicious Coconut cream soda and water which was served quickly and with friendly service. If in the area again, we’d definitely come back! This was such a cute little town — I wish it’d been cooler, we probably would have stayed longer to check out more shops!

Goood coffee! We started on our road to Hana trip with a stop in Paia. Atmosphere: The coffee shop and several storefronts. You walk into an open courtyard with many umbrella covered tables. There are so many plants surrounding the courtyard it feels like you’ve already started road to Hana. You order from the counter and wait at one of the tables. Service: the barista and cashier were very kind and helpful. They brought out our food and drinks promptly. Food: I was recommended their scrambled eggs with goatcheese and bagel. It was very good and I appreciated the simplicity of the breakfast. I also ordered a simple iced coffee. Intangibles: worth a stop before you get started on your once in a lifetime trip. Make sure you go all the way around.

It’s aloha Friday and time for a great breakfast. A few out-of-town friends met me here for a delicious treat. I really love the vibe of this little coffee joint. We found a spot in the shade and got busy talking story and working on stuff. Before it got too crazy, we headed up and grabbed some grub. The banana bread was sitting so nicely in the sun-I had to get my self a piece– I mean, it was already warm! Add an ice cold sparkling orange beverage and I had myself a well balanced meal packed with fruit ;) my friends got the yogurt bowl with fruit and lilikoi topping. Uh. That sounded so delish. We got back to work at our table and minutes later all the rest of our order was delivered. I had already devoured most of my deliciously moist and perfect chocolate chip banana bread. The girls immediately started getting their granola evenly mixed with fruit and topping. I could smell the sweet lilikoi fragrance. They both told me that it was the best bowl of granola that they’ve ever had! I believed them and it will be on my order when I return to Paia Bay Coffee. We all enjoyed our experience here. I’m glad I live close – I’ll be back really soon :)

My co-worker travels all around the country and has a penchant for discovering the best locally owned coffee shops in every ‘hood she visits. While in Maui we drove to Paia just to have coffee and snacks at what I can only describe as Robinson Crusoe’s coffee spot. As we approached Paia Bay Coffee I have to admit that the little voice in my head went off: «Uhhhh what are we doing walking down some weird alley? Are we going to a crack house?!» Thankfully I’ve learned to ignore the negative voices in my head and have instead decided to embrace the pure joy of a relatively safe adventure! Yes, this coffee spot is hidden and it feels like at any moment there’s going to be some type of drug raid, but once you walk thru the entrance you’ll be in lush jungle coffee heaven. If you only order one item during breakfast, make sure it’s the Greek yogurt and granola bowl with Lilikoi coulis. This bowl was honestly the best breakfast bowl I’ve had in my entire LIFE! The combination of fresh ingredients is what sets it apart along with light crunchy granola and ridiculously tasty passion fruit. I’ll have to have it every time I come back to Maui! Seating is all outdoors in their tropical courtyard and be warned that it does get quite hot. My friend taught me a new term: Swass. Which translates to, wait for it, wait for it: Sweaty Ass. We were all«Swass» because of the mid-day humidity and that does not leave you feeling attractive. Service was up and down during our visit, but the folks that were friendly really went the extra mile to make us feel at home. Electrical outlets are also difficult to find, so charge up before you venture out to this relaxing caffeine oasis. Parking Tip: Paia is crazy busy with tourists and parking can be a pain. If you can find a spot, park in the free public lot that’s at the very beginning of the shopping block.

Things you would assume would be down an alley, tucked behind a storefront: –dumpsters –drug den –parking lot –lady and the tramp’s spaghetti scene –speakeasy –all of the smells Notice that«secret garden with wonderful coffee and delicious food» was nowhere on that list. Which is why I was beyond chuffed to find Paia Bay Coffee, a complete refuge from the madness that is Paia’s main strip of businesses and tourists. It’s more arboretum than coffee shop, with beautiful trees and plants taking up more room than tables. The menu seemed enormous for the tiny kitchen size, but everything coming out of it looked fantastic and the granola/yogurt/lilikoi combo was my answer to a perfectly formed brekkie. Pair that with strong, locally roasted coffee, and an outdoor seat shaded by palm fronds, and your expectation of what you may find tucked down alleys behind storefronts will change forever. Moral of the story: even the alleyways of Maui are paradise.
