A great to stock up on a sandwiches and snacks for the road to Hana. Lots of choices and really reasonably priced. Just order at the counter and they will call out your name when they are ready. We had nine in our group so we stocked up and even bought one of the insulated cooler bags(foil lined — around $ 7.50 I think) for the long day ahead. They ask you to pick your drinks first then they put them in the bottom to act as the cooling component. Then they place the sandwiches, chips and chocolate cookie on top. We had 7 sandwiches, chips, drinks and cookies(some were sharing) altogether and this fit perfectly in the larger cooler bag. Sandwich/chips/cookie is around $ 10. The sandwiches aren’t huge so unless you have a really small appetite, you probably want your own. My wife and I shared the roast beef(had a nice sauce) but I could have eaten a whole one by myself in retrospect. Several in the group got the turkey and that was good as well. Also, the young woman at the counter was super helpful with advice for the day ahead. We stopped in early, around 8:30 a.m. and didn’t have to wait at all. They also sell other provisions like bug spray — although we ended up not needing it. A great spot to stock up for the Road to Hana.

Biggest mistake of not looking at reviews before our journey on the road to Hana. I was initially trying to go somewhere else but came across picnic lunch company due to its convenient location. I got 2 breakfast sandwiches which weren’t fully heated up so we were eating half frozen egg sandwiches. I also got the kahuna sandwich which was very mediocre. We didn’t finish any of the food and the trip took about 10 hours. That’s how disappointing the food was. The only reason I give them 2 stars is for the Doritos, cookie and friendly cashier.

Just came to try the gelato. Had not noticed this across from Paia Fish Market before for some reason but was in the mood for something sweet after a great lunch. Wow, their gelato is very good. Not quite like in Italy but closer than any place I’ve tried before. Will definitely come here again!

The best thing about this place was the service! The young lady working behind the counter was friendly and helpful. The picnic lunch was adequate for our needs. I chose the smoked salmon sandwich on a lettuce wrap and it turned out to be a great choice. The cookie was good. Chip options could have been more broad. They offered a hot/cold reusable bag(for a reasonable price) and even had gluten free options. When we were peering at the gelato, she offered us samples and it was very good.

Like everyone else we stopped by here on our way to Hana. We started out just going to pick up coffee, but then we saw that they did picnic lunches. We got sandwiches and were talked into getting the cooler bag. The sandwiches were just OK… nothing great. If they were a deli in a major city they would go under. The cooler wasn’t worth it. It wasn’t a real hot day so we should have just taken the chance with our sandwiches.

I came in for a breakfast bagel while staying in Paia. The bagel came to about $ 7 with tip, and took about 10 minutes to make, but when I left and began eating it(because there’s no place really to sit and eat here) I realized my bagel sandwich was missing about half the items that the menu board listed would be on it. The ingredients used were sub-par, and I haven’t been back since in the month that I’ve been here. It’s one of the few tourist traps in Paia. You can get much better stuff at mana foods or one of the little eating shacks on the way to Hana.

Stopped by before the Road to Hana. They employees were very friendly and patient as we ordered 10 sandwiches. I recommend the Shaka(Turkey sandwich with sprouts) and to pick up a cooler bag. This bag will stay cool as it sits in the hot car. The sandwiches were pretty tasty, but nothing that I honestly could make at home. You just pay for the convenience. The store has some great things to pick up before your trip. You WILL need mosquito spray. We bought some but still finished the hike with plenty of souvenirs bites. They also have a CD to listen to but just download the gypsy app and you will be able to listen and learn along the way. If you’re looking for something quick to grab– this is the place to do it. But if you’re looking for a really good sandwich? Maybe make it at home.

Yet another touristy in-n-out place but when we had our sandwiches surrounded by the beauty of Hana, there’s no denying they were delicious. The bread reminds me of Jimmy Johns which is a personal favorite. Plus the Paia gelato was a delicious way to cool down and enjoy the windows down windy drive. I recommend the lava flow sorbetto– some of the best sorbetto/sorbet I’ve ever had.

Employees were super friendly and helpful. We stopped on our way to Hana for a picnic lunch($ 3 off coupon on a $ 25 or more purchase in some of the travel guides) and then stopped for gelato when dining in Paia a few days later. Sandwiches are that of a quick deli mart and are a perfect thing to grab for your lunch on the long trek to Hana. The reason I gave this three stars is due to the sandwich bread. It’s in the shape of a sub but hard like Vietnamese banh mi sandwich. A little warning about that may have been nice. The party we were with took the top layer off and just ate the sandwich and the bottom layer of bread and it worked out fine. Overall, not a bad deal.

Stopped in the night before to order 27 picnic lunches for our very large group heading out to Hana and to camp at Kipahulu. Tiffany was great, even took my order after store hours to make sure it was ready for our early am departure the next day. Adults and kids all loved sandwiches /lunches — made a nice treat after swimming at Wainanapanapa! Thanks!

Quite possibly the blandest sandwich(veggie) I’ve ever had. Neither the hummus nor the tomato had any flavor. If it wasn’t for the decent choc chip cookie I would have been mad. Don’t believe the hype. Keep driving. There are better options closer to Hana.

Great portable and priced right picnic sandwiches. I would advise anyone on the road to Hana adventure to stop here first to stock up. It will keep you Hana experience going. Super friendly girls at the store who helped me with good advice on the must have things for this day of adventure. Mike

This is a stop on the road to Hana, and like all things in Maui, it is a pricey place. Often it is recommended to buy sandwiches here that you can eat on the scenic drive. I think it was way too expensive for the fact that it is essentially a sandwich store, but I guess that’s Maui for you. In addition, they offer a Hana tour audio CD which is expensive, and they forgot to add it to our bags when we left. Unfortunately since they close early, and we could not really turn around, we just had to take it as a loss. The sandwiches were just ok. We got tuna and veggie, and some cookies and chips. The pineapple smoothies were excellent, but again quite expensive. I think for the price we paid and the quality of the sandwiches, it would have been better to just pack our own lunches. We could have gone to the local grocers/pharmacy near our hotel and grabbed some snacks, drinks, and sandwiches instead.

This is a pretty popular stop for food before the windy road to Hana. When I’ve done the drive in the past, I’ve just packed my own lunch, but we decided to try this. After all, I love a good sandwich. Unfortunately, their sandwiches aren’t that good. Seriously, just make your own. The bread was kind of hard and tasted stale to me. There was just nothing special about this… For about $ 10, you can get the sandwich, chips, and a cookie, which isn’t bad. It did the trick as far as satisfying hunger, but was a bit of a letdown.

This place exists as THE first stop on road to hana. The place does not have any seating area on front, and is instead a wait area lined with Maui souvenirs and last minute supplies for the hana drive. We ordered a smoothie, a salmon bagel and a veggie sandwich. They packed it up for us in a cooler bag. The meal was very delicious, and exceptionally fresh after being in a car on a windy road under flaming sun for hours. The girls there were also super nice and friendly. Must stop!

A must stop on the Road to Hana. Get the audio cd if you want to hear more about the island during your drive. Tells about all the stops along the way with each track. Expect to miss some spots because the winding road is so distracting that you’ll give up in wanting to keep stopping after a point. This place gives you lunch, a cooler bag, and even gives tips about the drive. Park on the street and look for a gelato place.

Just returned from our trip to Maui… We stopped here to get sandwiches made for our road trip to Hana… Ran across the street to grab a coffee while they made our lunches. They offer a cd that narrates the trip by mile marker. We bought it and used in conjunction with the Maui book everyone has now… The CD was a great addition, it really helped because nobody wanted to read vs looking at scenery. I have listened to it twice since returning home. I had a soft sided cooler and we froze a water bottle the night before and the sandwiches were fine The sandwiches were great, we stopped and ate them at a great spot by Sandys. Bought some Banana Bread, then went to the ocean front… Couldn’t have planned it any better… They made great sandwiches… will definitely go back next time I am there…

A nice option for stocking up on the Road to Hana My wife and I stopped at the Hana Bay Picnic Company to grab a picnic lunch on the way to Hana. There are several places in Paia that can outfit you with food and drink for the trip. After you leave Paia, it’s slim pickins unless you want to stop at fruit stands or convenience stores. Hana Bay Picnic Company has a selection of sandwiches which come with chips and a cookie. The bread is excellent and the sandwiches have quite a bit of variety. I got the turkey sandwich which came with lettuce, tomato, aioli, and cheese. Nothing complicated but then with all of the sightseeing, you don’t have time for anything other than simple. My wife’s sandwich was very good too. The helpful staff will pack your lunch in a cooler bag for a few buck extra and believe me it’s worth it. The Road to Hana is long and the sun can be strong. You’re gonna want that cooler bag. All-in-all, Hana Bay Picnic Company is just about the best option to stock up for the roadtrip.

On our way to Hana, Paia is the 1st stop that you have to stop to get ur car fuel n food for the trip. We had stopped there and ordered one roast beef sandwich and one with salmon and cream cheese. I have to say it is nothing special. Maybe it’s the only choice there for getting picnic food. They also sell smoothie. The smoothie is quite yummy over there. The staff there is very nice for the information too. Well, if you need to go to Hana then it will be one of a few your choice for food.
