We really loved the food here. Nothing fancy but great food. Loved the fish tacos and hubby had bbq burger and he said it was delicious.

Went here because we could not wait an hour at first awakenings… Walked in, no one greeted us, we went to the counter and asked if we should sit or order first and she said order then ignored us for several minutes. The wait staff looked so unhappy, I smiled at one girl and she looked like someone killed her puppy… The food was horrid, service lacking. All in all, go anywhere else!!! **Owner asked the date: 3÷5÷16. Saturday at around 10 am

Absolutely horrible. The worst service imaginable. While we were ordering, we saw a cockroach walking up the wall behind the grill. We ended up getting a burger that looked like an overcooked cow patty. Waits forever to get our meals. Nothing was edible. Ended up getting our money back. They were reluctant to give us our money back, but they finally did. Zero stars!!!

It should have been a indication to us that there was a concern when the restrurant, called Awakenings, immediately next door, had a one hour wait and here at Archies American diner there were two groups in the entire place. As we walked in one group got up and stormed out with menus and water on table. As we looked at the dirty surroundings and tables a waitress approached. My husband asked«why did those folks leave?» The response was a shoulder shrug. He then asked«well how is the food?» The response, true to god from the waitress…“eeeehhhhh”. With that we did a quick departure only to hear from those outside… the roaches won’t even eat there.

First off, this place is filthy. We had a small bug crawl across our table and when I took my son to the men’s bathroom, a big red bug scurried across the wall. My son was too scared to go there, so I took him to the women’s. A little bit better. The dirty(black from not being cleaned) light switch dangled from the wall. We hesitated leaving as the saying goes, you cal tell the cleanliness of a restaurant by the restrooms. The poor waitress seems miserable. Makes me wonder if they’re properly treated as employees. Our $ 13 Jurevis rancheros were the size of snacks whereas our children’s breakfast was copious. I asked another available waitress for a fork, as we were only given 3 for a party of 4, and for more coffee and was told she would pass on the message to our waitress. Avoid this place if you can!

American diner? Grease city. If oily is your thing, this is your place. Like it deep fried, you’ll be at home. Nice view from outside on a nice day, but a regretful bit of food and indigestion if you’re not used to this oily cuisine.

Says it was open til 8pm. Just walked in(6:20pm) and they tell us it’s closed already! Not cool! Drove all the way here just to eat here. Not coming here anymore. Go figure why this place is going down hill.

The portions were really small. A side of toast was 1 piece of bread cut in half. The food tasted mediocre… Their prices are to high for the small amount you are served. And to top it off there was a cockroach in the bathroom. So sad since it is in such a prime location … Even the restaurant itself is cute … Pitty

Whenever we go to Pacific Grove, Archie’s is one of our first stops. We absolutely love the garlic fries.

Ordered Archie’s Burger, Bread Bowl Clam Chowder, Chili Fries, two order of Kid’s Meal Hamburgers, and an Oreo Shake. Surprisingly, I got fast service and the food are pretty darn good despite the comments on here.

Bad food, horrible service, nasty bathrooms. The only reason why I gave it two stars is because the garlic fries were good.

Do NOT eat here! Gave our order at 11:05. Received food an hour and a half later. My poached eggs on my eggs Benedict were boiled hard. The ‘potatoes’ resembled McDonald’s hash browns. Only gets a star because I have to.

Let’s start by saying I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. This place had the worse service ever. We overheard the table next to us say they were waiting for their food for almost 2 hrs and finally got up to get their money back. We have been waiting for over an hr for our food and see them microwaving everyone’s food that has been sitting on the counter waiting to be distributed. The servers are rude and the fact that they just reheat the food that has been sitting is disgusting. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!

Ordered their specialty, fish n chips and the fried artichokes. So disappointed. Under fried and overpriced! My fries were cold, however my 2 year old’s chicken strips and fries were so hot he couldn’t eat it for 5 minutes or so. Hubby never complains and he was fine with his Philly sandwich. If not for beer on tap, it would not have earned 2 stars.

Archie’s: a poem. The tables are empty Except but a few, I hate to admit it, It should have been our first clue. Your server speaks English, his own menu he doesn’t understand. Salty, cooked poorly, otherwise bland. The coffee cup can fit in the palm of my hand. Scrambled eggs is too complicated, Is the cook inebriated? This place is quite sad, The food is quite bad. If you didn’t wait the hour for Awakenings, You’ll quite wish you had. The end.

We were the only customers. It should’ve been a hint. It was just a bit before 1pm on a Thursday. If I had my phone and Unilocal app handy, we would’ve just skipped the place. But now here’s my review to serve as a cautionary tale for others. I ordered the Sourdough Cheeseburger, husband ordered the Monterey Burger and an order of onion rings. Prices are good, however, it doesn’t seem as though they know anything about 1) draining oil from cooked items or 2) changing the oil from the night before. There was sooooo much grease. I was unable to finish my burger, it didn’t taste right… not bad, just not right. Immediately after I ate what I could, I started to feel sick. Husband’s burger was definitely a bit better than mine(not so oozy), but neither of us could stomach the super oily onion rings. If you go, perhaps order something that isn’t cooked on their grill or in their frying baskets.

My boyfriend wanted to go here bc he said he had fond memories of this place from his childhood. Worst. Decision. Ever. First of all, the service was absolutely dreadful. The man who took our order missed an item, & when I went back to inquire about it, I got an attitude about it. Said item was BF’s burger, which he made it halfway through before he said he thought he tasted soap. I mention this because he is now in the bathroom puking his guts out. When we were leaving, I snapped the attached picture, which I leave all reading as a warning… There was a pigeon eating leftover food on a table INTHERESTAURANT when we went back in after dining outside on the patio. When my dad said he used to always go to the«American» burger place near the aquarium, I checked it quickly on Unilocal and saw: 4 solid stars and free milkshakes with check-in! Dad’s right again! When he turned right on Ocean View Blvd I thought maybe we were taking a wrong turn. Nope, I was the one in the wrong, I was looking at «American Burger», not«Archie’s American Diner». I do a quick Unilocal search… uhoh… 2 ½ stars… Dad says he used to come here all the time and they’re good, and dad knows good food, so in we go. It turns out they’ve changed ownership since he was last here. The big menu painted on the wall says: Archie’s Giant Burger: 1⁄3 pound. When they brought out my tiny shriveled patty on a bun I was shocked. It was about the size of a matchbox car. I was so angry, I didn’t even think to take a picture to share with my fellow Unilocalers.(sorry guys, I’ll do better!) I immediately brought it up to the counter to complain. The guy taking orders looked at it and said: «yeah, that’s the giant burger». Incredulously I try to explain what 1⁄3 pound means. At this point, my waiter walks out and I redirect my complaint to him, but he repeats what the other guy said, this is the Super Burger. I point to the menu above his head and explain that this is *not* a 1⁄3 pound burger, it’s not even a ¼ pound burger. Undaunted, I redirect my complaint to the chef back in the kitchen and he agrees to fire another burger for me, «mas grande». A couple minutes later they deliver a slightly larger(but still well under 1⁄3 lb) burger. I won’t be coming back again. Try American Burger instead. They have free milkshakes.
