I’m always in the search for the best fish tacos out there. Fish tacos are my hands down all around favorite thing to eat for lunch or dinner. I’ve had fish tacos from Puerto Rico, Cabo, Tijuana as well as popular spots in Malibu like Neptunes Net and Dukes. As for Rubio’s bieng a chain restaurant I didn’t expect much from thier «Mexican food», but their original fish taco took the top spot for fish tacos in the Ventura County to my tastebuds. I was out in Oxnard and I spotted this little place. I’ve heard so from Rubio’s from family members but their locations are very limited to Oxnard, Northridge and Valencia.
Fish tacos: absolutely amazing. Fish is perfectly crisp and light. Full of flavor. Light classic white sauce is the cherry on top. Perfect amount of cabbage. And the yellow tortilla is a new one for me. But the tortilla adds to the flavor.
Staff and this specific location: great staff! Super friendly and helpful. Location is clean and the salsa bar is great! The green tomatillo sauce is the best ! Not too spicy but right amount of spice and lime.

Every time I have a craving for Mexican food, this particular Rubio’s is my go-​to place. Their food is always made to order, served fresh and hot, and their salsa tastes just as great as the food they serve. Their staff is really friendly, and in all the times I come here to eat, whether it be dine-​in or to-​go, they always double check my order to make I get exactly what I want; that’s something I seriously respect and appreciate! I also appreciate how clean they keep the restaurant.
Another reason why I love this place. Sometimes, when time isn’t exactly on my side, and I need to get my food with as little waiting as possible, I call in my order and pick it up a bit later. Thank you for being so convenient Rubio’s!
The area this place is in can get very busy, so expect parking lot traffic from time to time.
As long as this Rubio’s is here, I’m gonna keep coming back.

Ahhhh! I just can’t get enough of rubios! They are the best! So yummyyyy! And all the employees are nice and awesome.

The gourmet shrimp is the bomb. Keeps me going back. The service is friendly. Not sure about the other plates as I haven’t been able to venture away from my gourmet shrimp craving when I’m there

Personally I’m not so into «Mexican» chain restaurants. Even though Rubios isn’t 100% authentic it’s pretty damn close. I love their bowls (California bowl with extra lettuce is my Fav) & they have great steak tacos. Went in tonight to get some takeout to take back for me and my boyfriend and the guy who took my order was really nice, salsa bar was stocked and clean, and my food came out really fast. I don’t come here often but every time I do I can’t complain!

What ever type of quality of food with a cashier who Has a bad attitude. She should be more happy and positive. She gives off a vibe that she doesn’t like to work here. I will most likely not return again.

This is a nice place. I went here at lunchtime and it wasn’t too busy. I ordered a chicken burrito that was pretty good. The employees here are very friendly and ask you how your food is as you’re eating it. It’s also a lot like Starbucks in the way that they ask you your name for the order and call you when it is ready. This is okay but sometimes it’s a little annoying. Not terribly though. There’s also a nice salsa bar available and pretty good parking. The area here is always very busy because there are several restaurants and superstores nearby.

First let me start off by saying I personally love Rubio’s, the reason for the stars or lack thereof is to grab the attention of management and make them aware of lost revenue (over $ 200 for purposes of picture painting) for the day. I am a medical representative, that had a business meeting today and was excited to bring Rubio’s in to help me close the deal! I placed my order with a food delivery service that I have used for years just prior to 09:00. I was in my normal day to day when I received a call from the delivery service at 11:22 to inform me that Rubio’s (which opens at 10:00 per their website) had refused to fulfill the prepaid order due to me not giving 24 hour notice. If my meeting was for 25+ people, I would have understood completly… but this order was for 10 people! In the past different surrounding locations have successfully completed an order of this small size with no problem. Are these employees saying that if 10 people were to walk through the door right now, they would be turned away because all 10 individuals had not made reservations? I think not, so why was my small order denied?
Management you have a great product, but unfortunately those representing your product do not share the same financial goals as you.

Very clean place. $ 1.50 fish taco Tuesdays! Staff is ultra friendly and attentive. Rubio’s has the best chain-​restaurant fish tacos! The staff here is awesome!

I have been to a lot of Rubios in my life and this was by far the best experience. The staff were very nice, the salsa bar was cleaned and well stocked and I received my food in a timely fashion. Thanks Rubios!

I eat at Rubios often in San Diego. We stopped at this one while traveling up the coast and we were very disappointed. The food was horrible. I won’t go into detail about the disappointment, but it was bad. I didn’t complain because I was too embarrassed. The reason I didn’t give this place only one star was because the man that took our order was very nice.

This place is really good for when you don’t want to go downtown and take your bulletproof vest with you lol. The customer service is top notch! The managers are always pleasant and have a smile on their face. They always seem eager to please and customize your orders. The food is really good and flavorful. The restaurant Decore is pretty nice and relaxing. I’m especially fond of the salsa bar that they have in there plus the everlasting selection of lemons and limes. This is the usual spot for me because it’s very convenient next to my house and as I said I don’t feel like driving downtown just doesn’t feel safe anymore. My former place used to be Baja fresh but as of lately when I last tried them the food seem kind of bland and un tasteful. So if you’re in the mood for some Baja food check out this place you won’t regret it.

We were impressed by the owner and staff of this Rubios. During our visit, he chatted up with many of the customers who seem to be regulars, and he was very friendly to his staff. He even stopped by during our meal to make sure everything met our expectations — which it was since the fish tacos are done to perfection. Definitely recommend this Rubios.

So honestly, if your stuck like me and want something affordable and good go to rubios.

Rubios is very clutch especially if Panda Express (next door) has a line out the door, they’re fish burritos and tacos are delicious, don’t really go for anything else.

They have a pretty big menu. Their prices aren’t the cheapest, but the food is pretty good, especially for a chain restaurant. This location is pretty small and gets packed during lunch hours. The only thing I like to order from here is the grilled shrimp burrito. So freaking good! Oh, and a churro. Those are good, too.

Salmon burrito on wheat tortilla is delicious! My usual is fish tacos of course, but this was a great change!

I like Rubio’s Fish Tacos. Back in the days when they used to be $ 0.99 I’d go quite often. But now’s they’re a lot more expensive. I had a fish taco and a tortilla soup. Not too bad.

For many years, I thought this place was the closest thing to authentic Baja-​style fish tacos. Oh, how I missed them! I have since then discovered the plethora of restaurants in Downtown Oxnard. With such a rich Mexican culture, it shouldn’t amaze me that every other downtown restaurant outdid this chain restaurant’s tacos.
Don’t get me wrong, for being a chain, their food is a legitimate representation of the Baja-​style food. The shrimp tacos & their burritos are flavorful, and their chipotle sauce is a great addition to any of their meals. Their chicken quesadillas are also a nice twist from the norm, as they serve it with guacamole and sour cream, yum!
Stick this place in a town that’s not predominantly Mexican and it’ll be a hit, but considering their location, there are better options right around the corner.
