I was there for father’s Day and it was a disaster the food took forever and when finally got it, it was cold and I didn’t get a refill of coffee for a very long time and needless to say Ive decided to move on and never come back

Golden Egg has been a favorite of mine since 2014 when I moved up here. I was drawn to their banana bread. The staff is always very kind. If we ever need to wait, it is less than 5 minutes(which is awesome!) We have tried a variety of their breakfast items. My husband loves their Great Western breakfast, biscuits and gravy. My favorite item is their almond granola pancakes. I don’t feel that there is anything on the breakfast menu that I am not a fan of. I have gone to both locations(Ventura and Oxnard) and the Oxnard one is more relaxed. The view from the back patio is very nice. It makes for a peaceful breakfast experience.

Not only was the food amazing as it was all homemade, but the staff is a huge part of the five star rating. If this is not a family owned business, they sure act like it is. Each and every server came by our table to ask if everything was going well if we needed anything and they did that for all their clients. If you are looking for a neighborhood café to become a regular at, this is the one! We are getting ready to move our boat to the marina right behind it… And I know this place will be our go to breakfast place. Good in the fact that they have awesome food and service, bad in the fact they have great food = weight gain! Country fried steak isn’t your traditional heavy, greasy strak but rather a lighter version which makes you feel less guilty ordering it! They have a big menu and they serve breakfast and lunch all day, giving us time to taste everything on the menu every morning!

This is a great breakfast spot! The scrambles and fresh banana bread are delicious. The service was wonderful and you can sit out on the back porch and enjoy a great view of the harbor! We would definitely return.

Literally come here for the homemade biscuits! FYI cinnamon rolls are just the biscuits with cinnamon and sugar and raisins haha they’re good too! But just in case you’re expecting the kinds from a donuts shop like I was. Good food, a bit pricey, customer service is mediocre. But nonetheless its location is great. Will be returning…

Still 3 stars … unfortunately the service has not improved. Food was good as usual and service was spotty at best. It’s such a shame because the location is so amazing I wish I’d be willing to come here more.

The food and service was awesome. I went with 3 kids ages 4,7, &8. We thought we wanted to sit outside, but the wind was to cold. They moved us back in and they were very helpful. The multi grain pancakes were awesome. The kids got exactly what they wanted. I think we found our new brunch spot… Now if only they served mimosas.

This is one of my favorite places for brunch mostly because of the great back area that is outdoors. It’s a lovely view of the water. The food is also great with a good variety of omelettes, Mexican style eggs, and choices of bread. The tough part is the parking lot at it usually gets full.

My first time here for lunch and apparently they just started serving lunch. The cook and the waitress didn’t know much about the menu or food. Both orders were served incorrectly. I recommend breakfast over lunch until they get situated. The food is okay(nothing to brag about) but the outside ambiance was pretty. I think if they get organized a bit more, it will be a better place.

Small very clean little diner. Nothing over the top decorations. Pancakes and bacon tasted like your mother made it. Great staff who are very prompt and friendly. Great prices and the food is decent. Very much like breakfast you make at home.

Wow! Great food and wonderful ambience! Chile Verde Omelette was so delicious! Banana nut bread owned its status! Amazing! JoJo, our waitress was very helpful for our first time. We will be back!

Great service, average food! The Golden Egg is kind of like a small diner type place where all the servers know who you are. It has a very homey and laid-back atmosphere. However the food was not good: Tri tip-2/5, not good at all. I think it must have been cooked in the same oil the bacon is, and personally it made me feel very sick. Fresh squeezed orange juice-1/5, nasty! It tasted like a watered-down version of bad orange juice. Homemade biscuit-5/5, it was light and fluffy! It’s the kind of biscuit that just melts in your mouth when you eat it! Yum! Potatoes-3/5, the potatoes would have been such a great dish, however they were heavily salted. I couldn’t even finish them with how much salt there was. Service-5/5, JoJo was such a sweetheart! She was very welcoming and made our dining experience wonderful! JoJo was quick with our order and kept coming back to check on us. **another reason why I gave them such low stars is because they charged $ 2.15 for an extra plate! And we didn’t even ask for an extra place, JoJo saw that we were sharing and offered to bring us one! Seriously? C’mon guys! So unfortunately because of this experience(and the average food) I will not be returning.

Not being a local, I would say if I ever came back to oxnard ca I would never step a foot into this place. Bad service & food quality was hmm lets just say okay. Walking in we got no type of hi welcome after just standing there a guy just told us to sit anywhere gave us our menus and 15 min later no server until we flagged her down. Never once did we got checked on or water refills, lame! We got the homemade chilaquiles with a side of beans… Let me start by saying that the beans were watered down completley and the chilaquiles were bland with no taste, so utter dissapointed. I just ate them because I was hungry and me and my husband had been on the road for about 4 hours. Shamefull

Don’t Go. Yes — the food is pretty much decent, but as mentioned elsewhere the service is spotty. My biggest complaint is that they just JACKEDUPALLOFTHEIRPRICESBY10%. What was on the borderline of being an affordable breakfast is now over that line. I don’t know if they think their customers will just suck it up, but I won’t. No additional value is being provided for the increase, and other relatively nearby breakfast places(Carrows) are several dollars cheaper. They need to do a little more assessment of their demographic and demand before they start introducing unilateral price increases.

Worst service I’ve received. It took our server 15mins to take our order, a hour to bring us our food, and 45mins after we were done eating to bring us our check after of course we asked another server for it because our server is too scattered that he paid no attention to his tables. He checked on us once and diasppeared. The table behind us had the same discontent for the service. This place is just a cluster. Dennys would’ve served faster and better than you guys. The food definitely isn’t worth the wait, its just like any other diner but they call themselves a café. Not worth your time.

Tried it for the first time and it’s good. If you can get a seat in the back, has a nice open patio over looking the docks. Must try their homemade banana bread!

This place serves typical breakfasts which is usually what I want for a lazy Saturday morning. I get in moods of plain breakfast, so I went with oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins. Very standard but that’s exactly what I wanted. It was a bigger bowl than I expected though. It came with a side of seasonal fruit which comprised of bananas, strawberries, honeydew melon, and watermelon. So fresh! The vanilla latte was really sweet, just how I like it. My aunt got the spinach/mushroom/cheese omelette, the potatoes, banana bread, and a cup of coffee– she cleared her plates completely so I’m guessing she liked it! Ha! It was not too crowded on a Saturday brunch, so we were seated pretty much right away. Staff was very enthusiastic and multiple people made sure my aunt and I were happy with our meal and service. There were a couple regulars here that the staff knew by first name which was cool! The part I dinged a star was that my coffee cup was not washed that well because there was someone’s lip stick stain still on the top side… eww! The waitress happily amended the situation but it just made me paranoid for the rest of my meal inspecting every dish. The rest were fine… just that cup. There is plenty of parking in this shopping center. There’s a cute statue to the right of the restaurant face and a cute little marina behind the restaurant. The boats, water, birds, rocks, plants, and trees are a nice little added bonus if you walk around the place.

A great breakfast spot. Delicious food and friendly service. I had the Greek omelet. Filled with spinach, tomato and onions and topped with feta cheese, it is made of simple ingredients that come together so very well. The rosemary infused home potatoes were nice and crispy. They were even great the next day microwaved to reheat. The choice of breads to accompany the breakfast egg items includes the usual and also banana bread. Go for the banana bread, a nice sized slice served warm. My husband had the French toast which was served with real maple syrup. It looked like an egg bread was used but I didn’t get a taste to confirm. He gobbled it all down.
