Gandolfo’s New York Delicatessen

What happened to the menu and value? Both went downhill. Sorry. Most likely not going to come back anymore. We were regulars since it opened there at the Collection and even would visit the location that was over on Victoria too. Sorry to see this one go downhill.

Place is under new management and they reduced their menu significantly. My favorite sandwiches are no longer offered. Choices are very limited with minimum options on meat combinations.
It’s Gandolfo’s but no longer serve the Gandolfo sandwich???
Also they had no drinks available; soda machine was down and their drinks in the fridge were only water and 3 cans of soda.
I used to come here frequently for the variety of sandwiches. Food was great. Sorry to say, but this might be my last time coming here.
They removed the best part of this place, the variety of sandwiches.

Service is terrible and slow. Don’t waste your time coming here. They messed up our order and took them 30 minutes to make it.

So I ordered a sandwich today and the service was so slow. After «30 minutes» my meal was finally ready, however they brought me the wrong meal. After waiting an additional «15 minutes» my meal finally arrived. So after waiting 45 minutes I was able to eat. I asked for my money back and was only offered a free side. Since I was hungry I didn’t pressure and just had my dinner. It’s a shame that the meal ended up not being that great either, it defiantly was not worth the wait…

We went to Gandolfo’s today and the menu apparently changed. I ordered something similar to the Club Met however, it was not on the same type of bread, much smaller and it was «okay».
The menu was a lot better before. I don’t know why they changed it.

After a Hiatus, I retuned to Gandolfo’s Deli. First thing I noticed was a revamped menu. Yes you might have fewer options then before but you won’t be overwhelmed like some people were In the past.
I ordered the usual which is King of Queens. It’s a simple Pastrami sandwich with Russian dressing, slaw and tomatoes. I skip the tomatoes.
The Sandwich was very similar to what it use to be but they changed the bread to a marble rye. They took a good sandwich and made it Great.
The staff was super friendly. I will definitely be back to get usual.

Great food ! Great service ! Great hospitality ! Love the environment ! Fun for all ages ! Greatest sandwhich joint in miles of the collection. ! Nothing compares to the time spent in this wonderful sandwhich place ! I take this over subway any day!!! God bless the manager JALEN ALLEN!!!

The food is good. I love the chicken salad. However, I never wait so long for food as when I come here. It’s near ridiculous.

Horrible! The expansive menu is very inviting, but the food fun stopped there. I went for a quick sandwich to go after a movie at the nearby theater. 1:30pm on a Saturday, with 2 other customers already eating. Translation, not busy.
The counter person taking my order, had me wait while she took a phone order. No big deal. My order was taken efficiently enough, and I waited. And waited. And waited.
The three 20-​somethings behind the counter (including the order taker) seemed to have plenty to laugh with each other about. After ten minutes, I stepped into the (trash filled) restroom, returned, and waited some more. 17 minutes for a half Westbridge sandwich.
The food was the biggest disappointment. Billed as chicken breast, bacon, tomato, cheese, lettuce, and mayo, this is what I received, FROM A DELI:
Food service BREADED chicken (supposedly breast) pieces, partially cooked bacon, and the remaining ingredients.
17 minutes for non-​fresh, food service slop, from a business claiming to be an Italian deli. A dishonor to Gandolfo, and true Italian delis. Jersey Mike’s, I will never stray again!

I went here with friends from work not to long ago. This place has gotten way way worse since it first opened. First off, the ditsy girl behind the register waited for us to pick our sandwich from a lengthy menu before telling us they were out of cappacola. It’s an «Italian deli» for goodness sakes! Half the sandwiches in their have Cappacola. They have a big sign that advertises their soup of the day. It was a little chilly out and I thought maybe I would have a half a sandwich with a cup of soup. I asked the girl behind the cash register what type of soup they had and she said that we no longer serve soup.
During all of this I noticed the trashy Oxnard parolee making the sandwiches. You know the type., blown pupils, crust in the corners of the mouth, haven’t slept for days type. Needles to say it appeared the owner had given up.

Best freshest subway in oxnard. It’s just a couple bucks more than subway but tastes 4 times better!

This Gandolfo’s was pretty good, if a bit expensive, when they first opened. However, the last couple of times have not been so good.
Each of the last 2 times I got the Little Italy sandwich and it simply lacked any real flavor and both of them had lettuce that was turning brown. Pretty poor quality for a sandwich shop with upper end pricing.
Also, the employees seemed apathetic and really weren’t friendly. The messy tables & floor in the dining area (no, they weren’t busy) definitely reflected the employee demeanor.
I used to like them, but I won’t be going back.

This place was so good when it first opened I don’t know what happened. I went tonight the deli case looked nasty they were out of roast beef and pastrami. I wanted a roast beef sandwich so I had to change my order. I ordered a rocky balboa. After 10mins of making my sandwich they come tell me they’re out of chicken. It took them that long to notice? Then I get home and my avocado wasn’t in there and it tomatoes when I ordered it without. The girl making the sandwich even grabbed an ingredient and ate it! Horrible workers

First timer to the deli & honestly I was overwhelmed with the selection but I decided to go with the Knuckles Sandwich & made it a come with soda & chips… Added the pasta salad on the side & to my WOW it came to $ 17! Crazy pricy! I just told the cashier «better be worth the $ 17» in a laughing way. Pasta was not horrible but not great pretty blah honestly & the sandwich well I see the $ 17 price now! So bomb! Very messy but amazingly delicious! Still believe it’s overpriced but the food was great!!! + it was pretty fast & the place was nice & clean!!!

Nothing wrong with my sandwich, but nothing particularly good, either. Pros: reasonably priced, fresh tasting yummy bread. Cons: not enough meat (if I’d taken the meat from both sides and made it into only half a sandwich, it would have been an okay meat to bread ratio), wait for my very basic to go order.

For a New York deli this place is simply uninspired. This is my second time here and I feel just like my first… With all the lunch/​deli competition out there why spend my $$ here?
Today I ordered the bridge Hampton ½ sandwich. This has turkey, avacado and bacon normally a slam dunk at a deli. The positive was that the bread was nice and soft. Other than that not much to really brag about. The sandwich was dry– I had to get a side of deli mustard and that really helped. The sandwich was also very 1 note– no complexity here. It’s screaming for the crunch of a pickle or onion or crispy bacon.
All in for ½ a sandwich, chips and drink it was a little over $ 10.00 this is a fair price only of the quality of food = the value. Unfortunately Gandolfo falls short in the deli market.

Went here for lunch. The food was good tasting, albeit expensive. We ordered two combos and paid $ 30 for it. When our food came we only had 1 side and when I mentioned I was supposed to get one they apologized and went to grab it. When they came back instead of my side they had brought out my receipt and showed me how I hadn’t paid for it. The combo with a soda/​side is $ 2.99 and told me they could charge me $ 2.50 for the side instead of the 40 cents difference between the soda and the combo I had purchased.
My wife then asked if we could just be charged the difference the man said yes, while the cashier lady said no, charge $ 1.50. I guess losing a customer is worth the 40 cents. Not to mention the girl flat out told me I didn’t order a combo when I did.
Overall, the food is pretty good but as other reviews mention the service absolutely kills this place.

First time eating here, walked by many times… tonight was the night we stopped in and ate. Besides actually wanting to try something different, it was close to the theater where my son was meeting friends, as time was an issue tonight. I tried the Knuckle Sandwich… oh my word!!! SO good! First, I am picky, especially when it comes to food. Meaning, I like to eat where I know the food is good, (thus don’t try new places I am unsure of very often) because if I don’t like it, I am so disappointed I spent the money.
Not only did they make sure the pastrami was lean (chewy fat is NOT ever appetizing!) but for me, trying something totally new, and it was really good… was a win win! My son had the kid’s meal, great price for all he received. My husband had the Urban Cowboy and loved it, he is much easier to please food wise! And he was very full, that is saying something! Both deli salads we got were VERY good. (Broccoli salad and marinated cucumber)
I can’t wait to try this sandwich again. My only «negative» was the price… to me his half sandwich was great on price and the amount of stuff in his sandwich being on a roll, where a full sandwich for almost twice the price is on sliced bread, and while it had a great amount of all the ingredients… I personally felt, his sandwich had lots more being half a sandwich, for ½ the price of what you get for a full sandwich at 11.29.

I really loved the food!
I hated the service, and they ripped me off twice. I used my card to pay, and both times they added a huge tip, even after I tipped the «jar» they have at the register. I had to go back in both times to fight for my money. Their employees are thieves, and should have been fired right away. I really felt bad for Nathan who runs the store.
The Collection is a great place to meet, just don’t meet there, if you do PAY WITH CASH!
