Just in town on business for the day… stopped in here and was highly satisfied with my food! French toast, eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee! Thought it was great!

We dig this place and it’s a great alternative to our First Watch addiction that we seem to have. Everything we’ve ordered has been yum. Always great service. It’s very similar to FW, it is a casual diner in a strip mall location. We’ve never been disappointed.

Patiently waited for our turn to eat and noticed people that just showed up being seated. I had to ask where we were in line to be informed we were crossed off already. Noticing they messed up they immediately seated us at the dirtiest table available. After asking that it be wipe off(visible food) a corner of the table was wiped. Welcome to egg and I!

Good service and good breakfast. Complementary coffee while waiting for a table would have been nice

I love this place and I don’t understand people who gave two stars or less. I came here several times and tried different dishes they were all amazing. We came for breakfast today and had Spring special. The avocado bread was so yummy. Not suggest you come at weekend lunch time, usually you have to wait 20 – 30 min. This is a place you can try everything.

I was hoping to find another good breakfast option, but the Egg and I left a lot to be desired. The pancakes were good enough. However the biscuits were hard and the gravy tasted fake and watered down. The eggs were also average at best. Service was fair but very slow. This restaurant is fair, but I would not recommend.

Super delicious menu items. Nothing plain or bland, and definitely something for everyone. I had the spinach, bacon, and mushroom omelet and traded my English Muffin for 1 slice of raisin french toast with cinnamon butter. Wowzers!

This is the best American brunch, the grilled potatoes is my favorite. I like when sitting there and talk with my friends, once I even met the previous mayor of Overland Park, I didn’t recognize him, but was confirmed by my friend who have lived in Overland Park for 10 years. The price is fair, no expensive. You should come and try!

We LOVE the Egg and I. It is difficult to get a table if you go during peak hours(it is a smaller restaurant). But it is worth the wait! This is one of our favorite breakfast/brunch places. I recommend the Sante Fe Juevos.

I’m a foodie. Especially when it comes to breakfast. So, if you’d like a bit of a change from First Watch, try Egg & I. Never a long wait. Good variety of breakfast & lunch. Also, healthier options for those watching calories or just want something lite.

This is my second time here and I come for the great food. Today I was treated awful by an alleged«manager» named Amy after I asked how long the wait was. It was overwhelming how vocal and theatrical here rude words and facial expressions were. Rolling her eyes and snapping her neck while speaking to me. The door says this place is locally owned and operated and I expect more from a facility that claims that. It doesn’t matter how great your food is, the customer service you provide will make or break you and it will be a very long time until I return.

This was a very enjoyable visit for breakfast. Tons of choices on the menu — omelettes, eggs, all styles like frigates or skillets, many healthier choices like egg whites and turkey bacon/sausage. The only thing there was not a ton of variety on was pancakes/waffles. Seemed like the choices there were all sweet and sweeter, like no plain old stack of pancakes or just one belgian waffle(without something sweet accompanying it). I guess I could’ve asked for removing something but the omelette I ordered was excellent. Despite the many egg/omelette choices, you can STILL build your own omelette if for some reason you can’t find an existing one to suit your tastes. I LOVED the fact that they serve iced coffee, and it was excellent! It’s hard in the KC area to get the combination of good food for breakfast AND good coffee. Not here.

Supporting local business in Kansas. We wanted to try this place. The waiting line was to the door but we said let’s wait! Waiting time was 20 – 30 mins Friday around 10:30am. Food took a while to come but it was delicious. I order the Veracruz Chicken and Avocado omelet from the lighter choice. My strawberry lemonade was excellent! The only thing I didn’t like was the waiting. We end up leaving around 12:30pm

Great breakfast and our service was spectacular. The wait for the table was worth it. The price was fair for the amount of food. My husband and I are gluten free and they had a gluten friendly menu. Would choose egg and I over Dennys anytime.

Good, but I prefer First Watch. They have a rather small menu for gluten free customers. I ordered an apple sausage hash with potatoes and fruit. The hash was a bit bland. Our server also seemed like she wasn’t too interested in working that day, a bit agitated appearing the entire time.

These guys do it right! First of all… Open on Christmas… Which is great when your visiting and staying in a hotel and the restaurant is not open. Summary…Great food, smiling friendly service, and pleasant atmosphere. Fluffy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, great biscuits and gravy, perfect ranch potatoes. Odwalla orange juice. Plus you can get lunch or breakfast. All in all great place! Wish they were in Chicago and New York! Would eat there often.

After some rough meals at the Egg and I, they seem to have restored their focus, honed their cooking, improved their service, and created an all around better dining experience. Not sure if it was a change in management or cooks, but our latest meal here put E&I back on our list of A-OK places to visit for a great tasting breakfast in South JOCO. Every person we came into contact with our on visit here Saturday morning was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. You have to have certain non-negotiables prior to eating breakfast anywhere — seated quickly, smiling/helpful server, quick round of coffee and water, order taken. All of these were in place before we ate — a good sign. The food came out in about 10 minutes(another good sign) and was delicious, much better than prior visits. Accommodations were easily made for fruit instead of potatoes, and items to be left out. I’m glad to see E&I back on track. There aren’t too many places around the metro where you can get a solid breakfast, experience, and atmosphere, but E&I is back on the short list.

Food is very fresh and yummy. Prices were very reasonable too. Not a large place but very busy in the morning. Friendly staff and quick service made it an easy morning stop. Would for sure come back!

They changed the menu took off the Cajun Omlette, not sure I want to eat here now. Can’t decide if anything would be as good. Apparently they removed 14 items from the menu. They say change is good but so far I am not impressed. $ 3.49 for 3, that’s right three strip of bacon. Wow! Guess I am no longer a loyal customer very disappointing. Git any suggestions for breakfast going forward?

What brings me back here, is the consistency. I have never had a bad meal or a bad experience. The food is good, the service is fair(frequently busy and backed up) and prices are about average for a breakfast/lunch spot. The ambiance is a newer more«upscale homey» looking place complete with fireplace and shuttered windows, and it is filled with wooden bench seating and tables through the middle. I have read other reviews that slam on the food. I would not characterize this place as promoting a food orgasm. I have had many different items from the menu, and I have liked everything that I have tried. I haven’t found something I love or have to have, yet… certainly I’ve never had a raw pancake delivered to me. The portions for omelets, for instance, are decent, but not huge(as say IHOP, for instance). The flavors are pleasing, and they appear to take care in making sure that the food is consistently good no matter what you order. In my mind if you are consistently good at everything, and charge appropriately, then you deserve praise all the same. It’s possible that the upscale appearance makes people expect more than simple good consistent breakfast food. The service at times can leave you wondering if they employ a wait staff. OK, that might be harsh. There are several times I’ve visited that I thought maybe I had gotten there right when my server had to leave to go grocery shopping to get bread and eggs to make my meal. Thankfully, I am quite patient, and I typically bring folks along who’s company makes the wait not so noticeable. They could use some work there, but in fairness, people do sometimes need to take smoke breaks in the middle of their customers need for a refill on water. So, maybe The Egg & I is not the nirvana of brunch. I find it more satisfying than First Watch, and certainly better than IHOP, but then I’m also a huge fan of certain Waffle House locations, which brings into question my ability to review breakfast establishments in the first place. I’m a consistent fan of The Egg & I because they consistently give me a good experience. Period.

Every bit as good as First Watch! On the drive home after eating here, I told my wife that it was probably one of the best omelets I’ve ever eaten(I had the egg-ceptional). The«ranch potatoes» were a nice side, much better than the traditional hash browns a lot of places serve. The service was only so-so, but they were also pretty busy. We waited 20 minutes or so to get in(there was 10 – 15 people waiting in front of us when we got there). Once seated, drinks came out right away, and the food was quick to follow after ordering. The only complaint is that our waitress was not very present for most of the meal(not just at our table, but I really didn’t see her anywhere in the place!). I would definitely recommend eating here any day though!
