Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina

If you’re looking for a good burrito or tacos, go somewhere else, like El Fogon.
While this restaurant looks attractive on the outside, the food just downright stinks. The food was not fresh at all. We will not be coming back here.

I grabbed a large bowl to go after my run this evening. The staff was nice but not overly helpful. The best part was the different salsas available. I definitely recommend the tomatillo salsa and the grilled pico de gallo. The proteins I selected were chicken and shrimp. I skipped the rice and beans so I could load up on the salsas and fresh veggies. Really good but not great. This is a franchise similar to a Chipotle concept.

Solid lunch spot for those who want some freshness in their lives. I stopped in with my mother after a morning of apartment hunting. We were both craving veggies so we got salads without the crunchy taco bowl. I had the shrimp on mine with the corn salsa and the medium salsa. Gauc on the side (which was stellar!) and the citruc vinagrette on the side too. Loved the dressing and the shrimp were actually nice and tender given how long I can imagine they had sat in the warmers. Ony down side, I’d say mildly highly priced given the portion size but seriously fresh!

It took me over a year of driving by this place before I finally went in, and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve added it to my regular Mexican food rotation. It’s definitely different than most Tex/​Mex fare. It’s not drowned in cheese like most of your casual dining places, and the quality is much better than the average fast food place.
They have a good variety from nachos to tacos and burritos to a pizza-​tostada hybrid. You get to request each ingredient, so it’s hard to dislike your order.

My boyfriend and I went here due to a coupon and had a great experience! Usually, when employees find out you came with a coupon, they tend to kindof brush you off. But not here, they asked if we had been before and after telling them it was our first time, they offered us MULTIPLE samples to get familiar, explained how everything worked, and walked us through our entire order with an enthusiastic and friendly demeanor! I was so impressed!!!
The food was very good as well! Not as good as the service, I’d say slightly above Chipotle (which is still delicious so that says something). We enjoyed every bite, and now come back pretty regularly. We try new things every so often and have never been let down.

Oooh! I love the décor and the atmosphere in this place. It’s fun and bright, and yet each table still manages to capture that elusive feeling of privacy. You can actually have a good conversation with someone and not feel like you’re accidentally including the person at the next table in the discussion.
Three cheers for the coupon they printed on the back of my Hy-​Vee grocery receipt, YES that kind of marketing really does work!
Here you walk up to the counter and walk the clerk through the process of ordering exactly what you want, burrito bar style. I opted for one chicken and one ground beef soft taco. My husband copied me and we split a steak nachos. I sort of wish he hadn’t just so we could have sampled more of the menu. The shredded chicken was moist but not terribly flavorful. The ground beef was super finely ground and also lacked a bit of flavor. The steak on the nachos was just right! Note to self, next time just order the steak! I can appreciate that everything is nice and fresh and this is a healthier place to grab a bite than most others. Skip the queso, it was salty and not very cheesy. I’ll probably try a margarita next time too!
Next time I go I’ll be switching up my order entirely just to see what other things I might like better, but this is definitely a place I’ll come back to again and again.
HOT TIP: They have bar height tables that seat up to 8 or 10 tables, would be fun for a group lunch!

I was very excited about trying this place. They had catered a function at work and left behind a general coupon for some cheap tacos. I figured how bad can a place be if they they want to be better than Chipotle.
I am not a huge Mexican food snob, I will eat even at taco hell from time to time but I have a problem with any place that puts more salt than seasoning on their food.
I tried their chips and their tacos and I am still recouperating from the dehidration that the amount of salt used caused.
Steer clear of this place unless you have to up your sodium intake per doctor orders.

A less than friendly man took our order (I am wondering if he was the owner or manager) took our order. Perhaps he was having some problems in his life be did not seem very happy or enthusiastic about his job. Maybe it was his usual personality. Our bill was $ 20.00 for three people, so I was a little surprised since this is fast food. Even though the chips were way salty, I just brushed the salt off and found the chips and salsa, cheese and guacamole were great! I also enjoyed 2 tacos. A little secret? My boys thought it was better than Chipotle! Woah! now that speaks volumes in my little world.

Great people here — really friendly and the food is reasonably priced and especially good over lunch. I like the quesedillas here since you can chose fillings etc. Not very crowded over lunch typically, ambiance and décor better than Chipotle in my view and food comparable.
Couldn’t get wi-​fi here (maybe just me) and the location isn’t great for me — although good for the soccer complex that is right there. Definitely a good lunch venue if you are on the area.

More expensive than Chipotle and not as good.

We were very interested to go here, and like the look of their little patio on the east side of the building. Food portions were good for the price, but the food wasn’t hot and flavor was not up to par. My girlfriend got a burrito bowl, and I got 2 shrimp tacos. We were both very disappointed. She commented that we should have driven 2 minutes father and just gone to Chipotle.
The one good thing I will say; the people working there were very friendly.

I think my first mistake was ordering my food to go. I ordered a 2 taco combo that came w chips salsa & a drink. i also added queso for $ 1 more. That was probably my second mistake. It’s quite obvious that the queso is something out of a can or maybe even powder mix. Not worth the dollar extra for sure. It was not very good.
Back to the tacos. I got soft shell and tried one steak & one chicken. They tasted quite good actually. But as I said I ordered to go and the soft shells are VERY thin so by the time I got home, they were soggy. So it was kinda hard to eat. i ended up using a fork as half the toppings were in the box.
For now, I can only give it 3 stars, but I will go back. They seemed to have a pretty decent menu and over-​all the food was good & not too overpriced.
One final note, I’m not a fan of Chipolte which seems to be the standard for these kind of places so i’m not sure how to compare them.
