Still the best. Tender, flavorful gyro meat and STILL a great bargain. Love this place!

Good for a quick fix if you’re stuck in the ‘burbs and craving greek food. But Not mind blowing. There are other options in KC I would choose first.

I live down the street and should go here more often. The gyros are truly delicious and I’ve never been disappointed. 4 stars because their customer service could use some improvement. A few weeks ago we called in a to go order and not only was the person on the phone rude, but it also took almost just as long or longer to get our food than it took others in line who had just waked in. Besides that, this place is great.

Mr. Gyros is so good that I sometimes take the long way home just to stop in for a KC strip gryo and a small greek salad. I’ve had the chicken, which was pretty good, and I’ve had the KC strip steak, which was really good. The greek salad is so good. Always fresh. Always done right, with feta, tomatoes, cucumber, green pepper and kalamata olives. I order it without the onion. The tv’s here play one thing: scenes of Greece. The old country, you know? It’s beautiful, and adds to the gyro experience. I’ll be back again, probably next week, winding my way home from work, looking for a taste of the old country.

I know it seems strange to give a fast casual Greek restaurant that serves gyros and gyro melts a 5 star rating, but in this category(Greek food and fast casual dining) Mr. Gyros most definitely earns their rating! Typically when I dine at Mr. Gyros I will order the food to-go, but not always. The items that are extremely consistent in quality, flavor, and taste which I eat each time that I dine at Mr. Gyros are: The Dolmades Plate, The Gyro Plate, Lemon Chicken Soup aka Avgolemeno, and the baklava! The Dolmades plate is not to be confused with those junky deli Dolmades that ones finds in the deli section of a Hen House or a Hy Vee; these grape leaves are stuffed with seasoned ground beef and rice. My personal trick to enhance these little pockets of love is to cut the Dolmades in half and dunk them in the lemon chicken soup; trust me, you will not be disappointed! As for the gyros plate, the gyro meat is quality(I order it well done) and the tzasiki sauce is out of this world. Therefore, when combining the gyro meat, onion, feta cheese on top of a piece of pita smothered in tzasiki is a small bite of heaven. Lastly, the baklava(not certain if it is homemade) is really great here; and, this is coming from someone who traditionally does not enjoy baklava. As for the service, it is fast and efficient! A great place to have a quick and well prepared lunch for certain. No matter how long the line is in Mr. Gyros, it never takes more longer then 15 minutes to order and receive that order; unless you for some reason have some party sized order:)! In my opinion, this is easily the best Mediterranean restaurant in the KC metro. I suppose Mr. Gyros has more of a Greek bent to it than say Aladdin Café of Jerusalem Café; but all in all I truly think they serve a better quality product here at a lower price point. When relating Mr. Gyros to the beloved Tasso’s, I must say that Mr. Gyros is just as good in the food department; but, Tasso’s wins out in the service and décor categories. I have only tried the Mr. Gyros location on Metcalf &85th(?), so if one of there other locations is not as good, please do not blame me; that would therefore mean that this location is clearly extremely well managed! Enjoy!!!

Fast Food with Greek Cuisine That’s how I would best describe this place. They’re pretty average all around with interior décor match more to a hole in a wall taco joint, but the food and price of the food made it worth it. It’s not the best Greek food around, but in also not paying $ 10+ per dish for it as well.

The chicken plate is to die for! It’s so busy every day during lunch but so worth it. They’ve got it down to a science. Highly recommend.

For the speed and portion sizes, this is a solid 4 star review. The gyros always hit the spot, but I find the Greek salad too heavy on the dressing and iceberg lettuce(read: vegetablized water). Perhaps I should skip the lunch special and double down on the meaty entrees. FWIW, you’ll walk out full. Also, I find the video loop of Greek scenery to be endearing.

I gotta give Mr. Gyro credit… I’ve been going here since I was a kid, when they were in their old-old location across the street(next door to their old location). I hadn’t been in a few years and my memory had been that they were fairly average but nothing impressive. I made it in a couple times over the last year, and I am impressed! The pita was so fresh it was almost fragile, the meat was juicy and hot, baklava was tasty, service was pretty quick. It still feels a little fast foody sterile inside with the usual goofy Greek tourist videos playing on a loop, but that’s certainly not a complaint. Parking can be dicey when they are busy since it’s at the intersection of 83rd and Metcalf. If you can’t find a spot on the first lap through the lot, it’s very possible you’re stuck making a loop halfway around the neighborhood or trying to make an embarrassing left turn across traffic. So take the first parking space you can squeeze in to.

I’ve live in KC since 1996 and driven past this place hundreds of times, but never stopped until today. I’ve been missing out. Gyro was awesome, the sauce whose name I can’t spell was fantastic, and the baklava was wonderful! I’ll be back!

Quick + healthy + affordable + friendly + delicious = a five star lunch all the way. So back in sixth grade I got really into the The Illiad and The Odyssey, and naturally following that, the country of Greece. We got to pick countries to do reports on and provide food from them, and since, you know, I was only 12 I had no idea how to cook or prepare Greek food. Enter Mr. Gyros, my first taste of a gyro and really anything outside the norm for me at that age. They gave me gyro meat, dolmas, and a whole collection of goodies to serve at the cultural fair, and I only scarfed down about ¼ of platter before taking it to school. For me, that’s a win right there. That was my first taste, and when I used to work in this area, I made many frequent visits to this spot. I’ll admit, it had the look and feel of a three star lunch the first time back in, but consistency time after time have them as a favorite lunch spot in town. I’m pretty loyal to the $ 8.95 lunch special(sandwich + salad), and I always get the chicken breast pita. The chicken is moist, well-flavored, and topped with onions, tomatoes and a delicious tzakiki sauce on the side. The salad is probably my favorite thing on the menu — I could/have/probably shouldn’t have drank the dressing before. It’s topped with feta, kalamata olives, peppers and is nearly a meal on it’s own. The sandwich and salad are more than enough, so you can resist the temptation to get hummus and derail the value lunch. I have to say I’ve had much better hummus at other places around town, for what it’s worth. The menu has a decent amount of offerings, and to each their own on what they order, but I’d stay away from the gyro melt. It’s a completely Americanized sandwich covered in melted American cheese — just seems like that shouldn’t go on a Mediterranean gyro in my opinion. Some additional offerings will trip the red flag that it’s not the most authentic Greek food, but that doesn’t change things. If it tastes good, it’s worth eating, right? Right now they’re only located in the suburbs and seem to be doing well out there(this location and also one near 135th Antioch), so I’d imagine that’ll stick for the time being.

I will start by saying I rarely make my way out to this area unless it’s for Table Top or Vintage Stock but when I do I love to swing by this place. For the price you really can’t beat the quality of the food and how filling it is. It’s right on the main strip but almost tucked away on the corner. I definitely got a fast food vibe upon entering the store, the upside is you pay fast food prices for a quality gyro that will fill you up. The employees were very helpful on my first time in there picking out the regular gyro sandwich, which was around $ 5. My girlfriend and I both got the same thing with extra pita and sauce and the total was around $ 12 dollars. I absolutely love gyros and you won’t find a better one at this price point if you live near by then I’m sure this is already a favorite on your list!

I ordered the lunch special(a sandwich with a small Greek salad) and a fountain drink for a total of just over $ 11 at the counter. My order was ready in about three minutes. The salad size was generous, the ingredients were fresh, varied, and worked well together. The gyro sandwich was packed with plenty of lean, delicious meat, topped with fresh veggies, and included tasty tzatziki sauce. The service was quick, and friendly. The interior was nicely done, and clean.

Mr. Gyros is good. The prices are reasonable and the quality is good. They don’t have a huge menu, but there’s a pretty good selection for this type of restaurant.

Mr. Gyro’s is my go to when I need a gyro fix. I’m a fairly picky eater so their gyro and gyro melt offerings are right up my alley. Pita, gyro meat onion on the regular gyro or cheese on the melt… Can’t really screw that up, and they really don’t. The gyro is piled pretty high with gyro meat and that pretty much does the trick. You can’t go wrong with gyro meat! The melt comes without the onion and tomatoes but adds cheese while the regular gyro is no cheese with tomato and onion. Everything comes with the tzatziki sauce, but i’m not a big fan of tzatziki so I can’t really tell you how it is. I’d go higher with my rating but their menu is relatively limited, it seems and so when i go, I know I’m getting one of two things and not trying something new or different. A little more variety might be great. The food is served fast-food style(order at the counter, get your drink, get called when your order is ready) and is served quickly. The cashier is always polite and keeps things moving. They give you plastic cups when you order a drink and they could be bigger cups so you will be getting a refill… plus they aren’t the most stable cups so when you push it against the drink dispenser thing to fill it, it bends instead of pushing the dispenser tab thing… The cup situation could be improved. I’ve seen people complain about parking but I have never had an issue. They recently renovated the interior to make it a little more nice looking, though I thought it was fine before if not just a little dated. When i want a gyro, this is my place to make it happen. It’s solid food and I’m always leaving happy.

Mediocre food; I didn’t care too much for their quality. I did not like their tzatziki sauce very much — a strange sour after-taste. perhaps it was spoiled? the chicken in my chicken sandwich was dry and tasteless, and my salad was drowned in vinaigrette. I do appreciate that their vegetables were fresh versus wilted(therefore, old). I did not have to wait long for my food, and they maintain a very clean, comfortable interior. Tip: they call your order so be sure to grab your ticket after you pay! throw your trash and stack your trays at the garbage that is located facing the entryway(opposite end of the fountain drink dispenser and condiment setup).

Mr. Gyros was a tad disappointing. When I say tad I mean the building is cute inside and out. I’ve always wanted to sop and eat here. I’m sad I finally did. First of all the guy greeting us I’m pretty sure doesn’t know what a smile is suppose to be. He was on the bossy side, and seemed upset we were deciding what we wanted. When we asked him about a vegetarian gyro he just started telling us about the big meal. He didn’t wanna hear anything we had to say. After we got our food I went back up front to get a spicy sauce like chili sauce or sriracha. He handed me mild taco salsa that had no heat. All in all very upset.

I hadn’t been to Mr. Gyros in probably about 4 or 5 years, but the hubby wanted to check them out again, so off we went. Part of the reason I hadn’t rushed right back, even though they’re in my neighborhood, is that I had remembered them as having mediocre food. Unfortunately, this hasn’t changed. I ordered the gyros platter which came with a pile of gyros meat, tomato and onion slices, four small pieces of pita, a couple of hunks of feta, a tiny serving of tzatziki sauce and kalamata olives. The gyros meat had a nice flavor, but it was overly dried out; so much so that the edges were curling up and you could see dry spots on the meat. The olives were the best part of the meal, although the tzatziki sauce was good, just not plentiful. I ordered a custard dessert with a really long Greek name. It looked really good in the display case, but sadly, the execution was not good. It came topped with phyllo which was completely soggy and had to be removed because it was pretty icky to eat. The custard itself lacked flavor. So overall, the food is definitely 2 stars and no more. But for fast food… and it really is pretty darn fast, it’s not so bad. The employees here are incredibly nice, so the service garners them a 3rd star. Also, they have recently remodeled the interior and it looks fresh and clean. They have added fake stone work which looks a bit cheesy and some of the decorating touches are just not appealing to me, but it’s an upgrade, anyway. Their new chairs are fairly comfortable and are really pretty. I may try to sneak out with a couple the next time I go!
