Located in a gas station so I was a little confused at first. But regardless they had one of the better Gyros I’ve had and I consider myself an expert on good gyros ;) hummus was really good too.

We almost drove right past it — as stated, it’s in a gas station. Menu is small but prices are reasonable and the service is friendly and the place is clean. Serving sizes were large — we got two Gyros for $ 10 and split an order of Dolmas and Tabouli salad. It was plenty of food for the two of us. Total of $ 20. I’d say check it out!

The food here is amazing! A really great authentic Mediterranean eatery! The décor is nothing fancy(I mean it’s in a gas station) but WHOCARES! This place is a great quick stop for filling, nutritious food. I got the falafel meal and my sister got the gyro meal. Both were so delicious and the portions are more than enough. The meals come with a side of tabbouleh and a side of hummus with warm pita bread to scoop the hummus up with… Oh man!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I love this place!

Great Gyros and great service! I always get the Gyros so I don’t know how anything else is. Well, the Baklava was tasty, too, but I meant meal-wise. The Gyros are consistently really good! Every one of the people that have taken my order have been smiling and very nice. And the people when you pay are nice, too. Even the guy who cooks the food is friendly! And did I mention I really like their Gyros? I do. Delicious.

Normally Papu’s puts out a pretty good product but my salad today was inexcusable. The lettuce was brown and translucent(like it had been frozen). It wasn’t a couple of overlooked bad pieces, this lettuce should have been thrown away.

This place is the best at what it does. It’s a stinking gas station that serves delicious gyros and chicken shawerma. What? Where am I? Always good, often busy, and reasonably priced — It’s one of my favorites.

Surprisingly enough, there are quite a few choices when it comes to either Greek or Mediterranean food in Kansas City. Papu’s Café is more on the Mediterranean side of things, rather than the Greek side. Papu’s Café is located in the back of a Shell station on 75th street in KCMO. The service is overwhelmingly friendly, but I have found the food to not quite live up to either the service or the other mediterranean and Greek restaurants in the Kansas City area. I have eaten here two times I believe, once ordering a Guro and the other time a Schwarma(sp?). Unfortunately neither sandwich struck a cord with my taste buds. I was not too fond of the quality and cut of the meat on both sandwiches. However, the accoutrements on both of the items I did find to be darn tasty! Furthermore, based on some of the previous reviews I would return to try some of their falafel, I hear that is one item they do very well! In my humble gustatory opinion, I would much rather go to get my Mediterranean food at the Jerusalem Café or my Greek food at Mr. Gyro’s. I hope to return to Papu’s one day soon and give their falafel and other items they have on the menu a try. However, if it is a gyro you are looking to really enjoy, I would recommend making the drive over to Mr. Gyro’s.

I have been here many times I rediscovered it last week on my way home from work, I got the gyro plate I believe it came with a traditional gyro, hummus, pita bread, and also a side salad! Everything was delicious I wasn’t a fan of the salad only because of the parsley but everything else was wonderful!

This restaurant is located inside a gas station store slightly outside Waldo. I have been here twice now, and it is pretty good. The first time I ordered a gyro platter. Everything was pretty good, but the gyro meat was a little dry. The flavors were not as outstanding as I expect from Mediterranean food. The second time I ordered a greek salad with chicken. Same comments as my first meal, and the chicken was also a bit on the dry side. If their meat was juicier, feta was fresher, and flavors were bolder, they would get at least one more star. However, not a bad place to pick up some lunch on the go.

Was visiting family in Kansas and this was the suggested place for dinner. It is located in a gas station, sort of made us chuckle. Food was good. I had the chicken schwarma, pretty good for gas station food, the falafel sandwich was very good. The hummus was very good, but we didn’t get any pitas for dipping. The tabouli was ok. Would go back again, food was pretty good just some execution problems.

Absolutely rude. After ordering and going to pay, I decided to walk out instead because of the service. It’s 2015, give up the homophobia.

I always look for new and interesting places to eat when I visit Kansas City, and I saw that this place was close to where I was staying and got good reviews, so I gave it a try. My sister and I got the gyro platter at lunch time and we’re pleasantly surprised to find it delicious! The meat was flavorful and the veggies were fresh. I would recommend this restaurant! Yum!

Yes, it is inside a Shell gas station but what a neat little place. Ordered the Shawarma and baklava. Having never had shawarma I have nothing to compare it to however the food was hot, the ingredients were amazingly fresh, and the service was good. This may be important to some, to others not so much, but I used the restroom while there. It was the typical, giant keychain, outside around the corner restroom. And I have to say, for that type of place, in that part of town, it was probably the cleanest restroom I’d been to in a long time, if ever. Otherwise it was good. We got there a little later in the evening and it looked like their stock was running low but as said, the food was hot and fresh. I’d definitely recommend and I definitely will be stopping by the next time I’m in town.

What a delicious surprise — this Mediterranean café is one of the best in KC and is tucked away in a totally unexpected place: the shell gas station on 75th! Nice variety on the menu, with seating both inside and outside. Order from the counter and pay at the register by the door. The flavor of their chicken shwarma was out of this world! Extremely reasonable price, especially for the plates. Pita is fresh, as are the vegetables, which compliments the well-flavored meats as well. Don’t miss this one!

It was a late night pick up dinner from Papu’s café. After 9 pm, we drove up to the gas station with an empty stomach and an almost empty gas tank. We parked the car in front of one the pumping station and started feeding the car. We were not sure whether the café be still be serving but we took our chances as the timing said till 10 pm. My husband went in to check for service. They had started cleaning up but were still serving. So I swiftly went in ordered a take away. In the meantime, my husband filled in the gas. I ordered a appetizer platter with hummus, baba ganoush and falafel with extra pita. And a falafel sandwich. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. After a few minutes our order was ready to go. The aroma coming from the warm food filled our car and it became difficult by every passing minute to control our hunger. We quickly made our way home, got the table ready and dined in. The food was delectable, the bread was warm, with smooth hummus, smokey baba ganoush and crispy falafel. The sandwich tasted wonderful with bits of lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes and crunchy fafafel. We had a delightful dinner.

Good prices. Food was hit or miss. The baba ganoush was great, smokey and lemony but not too lemony. The gyro was real, shaved off the spindle and tasty. The chicken shawarma was moist, mild and pretty decent. Hummus was very plain on its own, but if you mixed it with the dollop of red sauce that comes on it, it is very tasty. Falafel was a disappointment, satisfyingly crunchy but very bland. The tahini sauce that came with the falafel was equally bland — like just whipped up tahini with no other flavor added. I think the only bathroom available was outside. We will definitely be back, because it was good fresh food at a cheap price. They also had fresh cut flowers on the tables and art for sale on the walls. In the Shell gas station.

We had heard about Papu’s from a friend and we were definitely not disappointed. We had the 2 for $ 10 Gyro deal and also got an appetizer sampler to share. The gyros were delicious and some of the best I’ve had in KC and they are a healthy portion as well. The appetizer platter was good, the falafel was fried to order and the hummus tasted great. The spicy sauce on top of the hummus was super flavorful. The dolmas, rice wrapped in grape leaves, were a low point of our meal, they had some unknown herb in them and we both really didn’t care for them. Despite this, we really enjoyed Papu’s. The food was super cheap and it was delicious. We will be returning to this hidden gem again for sure.

Papu’s is quite an interesting little dive-y restaurant/gas station/c-store, but as far as I can tell, the main reason to come here is the food! I’ve been wanting to check out Papu’s for a really long time and just kept forgetting it, but I won’t do that again. Their menu is small, but their food is amazing. The hubby and I both had the gyros platter and it was excellent. The gyros was big and full of perfect flavorful gyros meat. Yum! It was served with a refreshing salad that was made with parsley, a bit of romaine lettuce, cucumbers and tomato. There was also some hummus served with a really nice spicy oil. Service is really fast. Just go to the food counter to place your order, then back to the front of the store to pay less than you might expect at the cashier and your food will be ready momentarily. There are several tables where you can sit amongst the motor oil and pet food while doing some primo people watching.

You may be underwhelmed by the idea chow served out of a gas station. And not even a flashy, café-hybrid QT-like«fancy» gas station with 15 roller food options and a cappuccino bar inside… just a run-of-the-mill, pedestrian old Shell station with some beef jerky, smokes, and chips. That said, Papu’s is well worth holding off on the side-eye and giving a try. FRESH food, you can see the prep going on from the very small seating area. Most don’t dine in, but get it to go; however, there is a counter and a few little tables if you don’t mind sitting by the coolers and motor oil and the like. I was pretty enthused by the gyro, right up there with Max’s in Waldo, but faster. I liked the combo meal, and found the spicy pepper that tops the hummus to be a nice touch. They don’t skimp on the pita, either. The salad may not be what some expect, as it seems to be a very parsley-heavy tabbouleh, but I liked it. All and all, very filling for a reasonable price. I’ve not been in during a major rush, but haven’t experienced slow service or a wait.

Papu’s it’s a bit of a hidden gem in Waldo. Located in a Shell gas station on 75th, it has a diner feel to it. You can see them preparing your food while you sit right next to a shelf with Doritos, motor oil and deodorant. Truly wonderful. The gyro is the best I’ve had in the city and its the only thing my wife’s and I get there… We should try some of the other things but we are always pulled back to the wonders of Papu’s gyro. They also have a Nice little seating area beside the gas station that it’s great for sunny days. This place is a must stop for lunch in Waldo.
