It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to a Goodcents, and I noticed a couple of changes: 1) they now offer BBQ subs, and 2) you can now choose to get your sub toasted. I tried the pulled pork BBQ sub on wheat(toasted). The tomatoes, lettuce, and sliced pickles I selected added to the overall flavor and textures of the sandwich. Also, the sandwich was toasted just right — warm and toasted, but not crunchy. There was a Coke Freestyle machine, iced tea with lemon slices, a TV, and pleasant background music. The dining room was clean, and the service was efficient, but somber, and only reluctantly welcoming.

When you call the Goodcents on 135th St., they answer with the slogan«We deliver, we cater, we care.» However, don’t even think about ordering delivery. I’ve tried going online to order food to be delivered and placed the order, only to receive a phone call ten minutes later informing me that they’d be unable to deliver any food that night. Naturally, they’ve already charged my credit card, and it sometimes takes a week for them to credit it back to the account. Once, they even completely neglected to refund me my money, until I called them and complained. I’ve never really written a Unilocal!review before, but their delivery service is poor at best. I don’t blame the delivery drivers; rather, I blame the management for failing to properly staff their establishment. I’d suggest avoiding using their online order form, and instead just place a call to them to make sure they’re delivering. It’s happened multiple times to me, and while I’m at fault for repeatedly using their online delivery form, they’re the ones who make it available for use. Goodcents: We deliver, we cater, we care… unless we aren’t properly staffed to deliver. In which case, we’ll refund your money… eventually. Sometimes.

My teenage son loves this place and requests it often! I indulge him several times a month. He always orders the Buffalo Chicken sandwich(that comes toasted) and says yes to the addition of Ranch. He devours it everytime and has never complained. Once they did not have the chicken chunks and suggested sliced chicken. I didn’t want to go home without a sandwich so I agreed. He enjoyed it and didn’t even complain. Well, he complained when he saw it, but after one bit he was good with it! Goodcents has never been my choice of a sandwich joint, but that changed last night. I occasionally get a sandwich when I go pick something up for my son and the sandwiches have been okay. It’s either been their Italian version or a simple ham and cheese. Last night I really paid attention to their menu and saw that they have a «Mr. Goodcents Original.» It has ham, bologna, salami, and pepperoni.” I ordered it with American cheese on white. I had them add my normal extras… lettuce, mayo, vinegar and oil, olives, onions, salt, and pepper. It was AMAZING! One of the best sandwiches I have ever had at a sub shop. I don’t know that I will ever go for my son’s sandwich and not get this one for me. I am probably over picky about the bread my sandwich is served on. Mr. Goodscents is the only sub shop I don’t ask for my sandwich to be toasted. I do that at other places so that I am not disappointed with stale, over baked or dry bread. This location always serves sandwiches on fresh soft bread and I love it! Also, they slice the meat when you order. The people who work at this location are great. They are patient and make sure you get what you really want. There are also free suckers at check out and they let me dig through to find the cotton candy flavored ones. Can’t go home without them!

I don’t generally order food such as Mr. Goodcents, but being cooped up at home with a cold and a mile high worth of studying I decided to order food in. Mr. Goodcents is located fairly close to my apartment and offers the ease of ordering delivery online. The online order process was easy to navigate and online payment is accepted. After placing my order I received an email that stated my order would be delivered in approximately 30 minutes. 20 minutes after I placed the online order I received a phone call from a personal line. Thinking it must be the delivery driver I answered. On the other end was a Mr. Goodcents employee that simply stated, «Hi, Katherine? Yes I’m with Mr. Goodcents, yea, I’ve been kind of busy I’m not going to deliver your order.» I’ve worked in customer service and I understand that stores get busy, but it was a little disheartening to not even be offered a simple«We apologize» just a simple rude toned woman saying I’m not delivering your order. I had already paid for my order in full so I then requested my money be refunded. She hesitantly responded with, «Oh well I can’t do that.» What do you mean you can’t refund my money? I was understanding until she refused to give me a refund for the order she refused to deliver. Finally she stated, «I suppose I can pass this on to another manager tomorrow.» this was all she would offer me. I asked for an email stating that I would receive the refund and the employee once again didn’t seem to give any care in the world and would not offer me anything stating I’d receive a refund at a later time. I don’t feel like I was out of line and kept my cool with her on the phone, but at some point there needs to be some sense of customer service on their end. I am very disappointed with how the situation was handled, and do not recommend utilizing this business.

Ordering for delivery was terrible. The man who answered did not understand anything I was saying. I had to repeat everything 3 times because my order was wrong every time. I was ordering lunch for my office, I talked highly of Goodcents until this happened. We needed something quick and easy to order, since Monday’s are very busy. I love the food, but the process of ordering the food doesn’t make it worth it.
