Went in a little after 10am on a Sun.(Tried at about 8 till 10 and the door was still locked, so swung by Panera’s for a little breakfast) They already had someone getting a hair cut, but as a rule they always greet the customer«Welcome to Sport Clips!» Even if it’s rehearsed, its better then being ignored when you walk into a joint. These places are all the same general layout. Some sort of TV’s on sports channels and storage for the stylists are made to look like lockers. Shampoo stations with pull out foot rests in the back. Being so close to opening, it did take a minute or two for someone to come to the desk, but it wasn’t a long wait. The young lady asked for my last name which I gave her and I informed her it was my first time at this location. She collected my first name and my last 4 digits of my phone and we were off. I was informed since it was my first visit to this location that I could get the MVP service with a shampoo for the same price as the normal Varsity hair cut. Nice, as I was just going to just get the hair cut.(We’ll go into why later). All your styleists here will pull out a towel/comb/guards to show they are using fresh/clean equipment. Assumed, but nice to be reassured. Hair cut was quick, some stylists try to chat you up to varying degrees, mine let me watch ESPN after one or two quick questions. She was good checking with me on the shortness and the style I wanted in the back, but surprisingly did not ask about my sideburns. She chose to style them in the correct fashion giving them a trim, but almost everyone always asks in case you want them shaved off. The shampoo/towel service was fine, be sure to tell them as your sitting down if you don’t want the towel. They are always sure to tell you that they are using a tea tree shampoo and it may tingle. That and the leave in conditioner are both used and then brought up as part of the sales pitch at the end to get you to buy some for home. Granted they aren’t bad products, but they are in line with the price of this place in general and that is expensive. $ 17 for a hair cut? $ 20 if I wanted a shampoo too and more if I want an MVP. I never get the MVP as I pass on the massage. It’s done with a little corded electonic device and I don’t find it relaxing at all. There are Great clips and Fantasic Sam’s coupons valid right now in mailers for $ 10/$ 11 and a current promotion at Walmart for a $ 7.99 cut. So why do I come here? Proximity, Time to get in/out, and other than the occasional father/son, very few small children. Granted I don’t mind kids in general, but they do tend to slow up the line and raise the noise level.
