This place really should be about 4.5 stars but I’ll round up. Food — ordered prime bone in short rib. It was very well cooked, nice and tender with a generous portion side Side dishes — a lot of people rave about the side dishes but I don’t see the hype. The cheesy bake is a cheap nacho cheese with bits of meat, not my thing. The beans were really really sweat(I guess some people like this) perhaps they just weren’t not what I like but be warned Service — fantastic, nice and friendly as well as fast Bottom line — in my judgement BBQ places should be served on paper with plastic utensils. This place is an exception it’s not overly pretentious

Really, by now this place needs no reviews. Awesome everything, had the lamb and brisket. Only thing that sucks is the wait, but what do you expect when your serving excellent food and service? Just get up and go already!

This is an okay BBQ place. The sides are great here, the bbq is good. The biggest issue I have with Jack Stack is it’s pricey for what you get compared to the local competitors. I love the beans and other sides here. The ribs are good. I find myself going to Ok. Joe’s more if I have the option.

Based on Unilocal feedback that the wait was bad We slipped in at 6pm on way to hotel. Took our bags with us. Two of us so we were seated immediately. Started with appetizer of Burnt Ends, yummy, ours were moist, some reviews say otherwise. We then had pork spare ribs, yummy, and Lamb ribs, juicy, but not my taste. The big suprise was the huge beef rib that tasted like a juicy brisket. Lots of fat, but cooked to perfection. Oh, and the Cole slaw was amazing and I am a Cole slaw baby, it’s got to be home made. Only disappointed of the night was the beef Brisket slices, they were dry, and boring, not what I would expect from a top notch bbq place. I have been to Franklin’s in Austin and their Brisket is a 10, if that’s a 10 then Jack’s gets a 3. Probably just a bad portion, but you have to be perfect these days to get 5 stars. So a minus star for the brisket. Service was amazing and overall a great place.

Went here with my sister after all the ladies at the local nail salon highly recommended it. We arrived at 3:30 and ordered wine off the happy hour menu. $ 2 off wine and select cocktails they had my favorite Pinot noir, Meiomi. We ordered the burnt ends appetizer and the spinach salmon salad. Both were excellent! The spinach salad might be one of the best salads I’ve had. Our server was great, very friendly and described a few dishes to us. The BBQ was very good as was the BBQ sauce. My sister was thrilled that the BBQ sauce is gluten free. We had a great experience here and will definitely go back.

My very favorite BBQ, and the ambiance is great. They make you feel like they are there just for you. Ask for a booth, the tables tend to be noisier. Larger servings, always have leftovers to take home.

The food is really good, especially the beef ribs and the sausage. Their combo 3 meat plates are great to get a sample. Sauces are good, both standard and spicy won’t kill your food. Prices are a bit on the higher end but still well worth the price for what you get. It gets pretty busy in the diner hours but it’s worth waiting fir a table.

Granted the weather was terrible so this may have something to do with my experience, but regardless it’s easy to see why this place has so many good reviews. I was able to walk in around 6 for dinner and was seated almost imediatly. Server was good and helpful when asked questions about the menu. The food though I knew was going to be good, but had no idea it was going to be THATGOOD. Huge fan of the pork ribs, fall of the bone tender and full of great flavor. The sides were good also really enjoyed the beans. Food came out quickly and the food was nice and hot. Side note: Order a bottle of Belle Glos if you’re a pinot noir fan… it was priced great(almost same price as in the store… if you can ever get it).

Pretty decent. Out of the 2BBQ joints I’ve tried in KC, they have the more hickory/mesquite taste that suits me best. It’s in the rub and sauces. This place just smells amazing turning off the main street to the restaurant. This is a sit down kinda place, reminds me of some place in 1970s Texas, out in the panhandle, kinda supper club meets BBQ. I love it. Unfortunately, I am driving an 11 hour drive and don’t have an hour to stay and eat. SO they have a pick up entrance/counter. Usually ready in about 15 – 20 min. I get the KC sampler. I will rate on a 5 star scale. I’ve gotten: the bone-in chicken: default is slathered in sauce, it was different and messy, but I liked it. In the future, I’ll probably get it dry and sauce on the side to get a true taste. 4⁄5 pork spare ribs: this comes as a «surprise» in the sampler, as they separate their category’s into«long» or «short.»(Baby back is an extra charge.) I have tried their short ends, not my favorite. 3⁄5. It’s too heavy on the fat. They sell it as «the end with more meat,» but what’s the point of all that meat if I have to dig through fat to find it? I got an accidental long end — MUCH better(4⁄5) Aside from the fat in the short end, the taste is on point for me, good smoke ring. 3.5÷5 sliced turkey meat: very moist, slight smokiness, 1 cm cut thickness. Can’t get any better for me. 5⁄5 pork burnt ends: these are really fun. This was the first place trying these(they have them on menu DAILY, not a «special» twice a week like some other places). Maybe it’s just the lazy in me, but these are ½ inch chunks of thick cut meat made to perfection. It’s almost like someone took all the good rib meat off the bone, cubed it, then served it. They took all the hard work out and still kept it yummy. Had these twice, both times pork. First time was better 5÷5− everything hot, decent smoke flavor(low end smoke burps), and rarely a fatty bite. Second time was only warm, decent smoke, but more fatty bites. 3⁄5 Overall, this is my favorite BBQ place while passing through. Someday I will have to stop the night to try all the biggies to truly compare. PS. They sell the sauces — try ‘em then buy ‘em! Great gifts for family and friends.

Always a treat! One of my all time favorite BBQ joints! Tonight tried the Martin City Mayor sandwich that rang in at $ 11.99. Uh yea, so much food! This huge chopped burnt end sandwich topped with their delicious coleslaw was spilling over the bun. The sandie normally comes with a side of fries, but when asking about the beans the waiter stated I could have a small side of both. Worked out perfectly because I recived the crunch fries as well as the sweet baked beans. Needless to say I was only able to chow down half of the sandwich and sides. Gotta love doggie bags!

Loove this place! The service is always great and the food is always very tasty/“oh my gawd, delicious” — which i would most certainly hope for the cost but it’s all so worth it. If you’re looking for a nicer type of barbecue place, I Def recommend it! P. s. Try the salmon sandwich, is to die for! :)

Got the sampler and it was just excellent. Best ribs and bbq chicken ever. The cheesy corn was to die for. Bbq beans were a little to sweet for me. Great service. Great food. The sampler covers it all the burnt ends were so tasty. Will def go back there. These ribs were the best ribs I have ever eaten. Great bbq top notch service.

I love this restaurant, love their food and consider myself a regular. However, I am very disappointed with an experience this weekend. We ordered takeout and had a gift card. The man in takeout said our gift card had a zero balance and when we said that was not right, put the total on our debit card so he could move on and turned it over to a manager. She was nice, said it happened all the time and said she fixed it and adjusted the charge down by the gift card amount. It took over 20 minutes and the next day when I checked, the full amount cleared my account. The food was good but I am not happy that it will take a second effort to fix. If this is so common, they should fix the gift card process and the manager should have checked our card to make sure she had corrected it as she said. Update: the credit did come through so that was good. Food was very good although I was dismayed to se a single beef crown rib is over $ 15.

BESTEVER! If I could give it more than 5 stars I totally would. I was expecting a much more casual location and pleasantly surprised by the SIZE and ambiance of this BBQ joint. ;) The hosts and wait staff were super friendly and the food was top notch. Fried mushrooms-pretty good, better with the homemade ranch instead of the horseradish dressing they serve with it. CROWN RIB-what you should order!!! The most delicious piece of beef that you will ever have the pleasure of eating and calling BBQ! Perfection on a bone! Burnt ends-okay. A little bland, well cooked smokey meat but not a lot of flavor. Baby back ribs-also delicious!!! Can’t go wrong with this one. Now for the sides-another experience altogether. Coleslaw-the right amount of sweet, tangy and creamy Cheesy corn-I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect from this but it was yummy and rich. Like mac n cheese but with corn in place of pasta . Beans-yum! Very BBQ-ey flavor. Nothing bland about these beans! Cheesy potato bake-wow!!! Cheese, cheese and more cheese! Super delicious but almost too rich. Plan to share, this decadence is more than one person should ever eat. Overall an amazing establishment and I can’t wait for my next opportunity to come back. Not a cheap meal but not over the top pricing either and it is well worth the splurge! $ 20 – 30 per person for a nice, sit-down lunch.

Amazing food– real deal Kansas City bbq. I got the burnt ends and crown prime rib combo. The rib was enormous! The burnt ends were delicious as well(basically just chunks of brisket vs true burst ends though). The service was great and the price reasonable as well. I will definitely be coming back.

Ordered bbq lamb ribs with sauce on the side and a side of Veggie kabob. They could not do the ribs without slathering it with sauce, the ribs were nicely cooked, however extremely greasy, I was not able to finish the whole rack due to grease. The veggie kabob was cooked nicely and quite tasty, overall not horrible but I would try different options before ever coming back here.

I don’t get it. I know I must be crazy, but with all the delicious BBQ in KC, why would anyone eat here? I ate here because my uncle paid for it… We had a 30 minute wait, but not bad for Friday night. Great service. Food was meh. I do quite like their hot sauce, but I like Gates hot sauce just as much. Burnt ends were more like dried pot roast. No bark, no flavor, just stringy bits. Sausage was meh. Fries I think were frozen, which is sad. Cole Slaw: Somebody likes celery seed A LOT(I don’t). So, the next time someone wants to buy me dinner, if they want to go here, we can, but I’d just as soon go to Gates or pretty much ANYOTHERPLACE in the world.

This is the Overland Park location of Jack Stack’s ridiculous barbecue and it is every bit as good as its sister locations around the metro. This location isn’t as fancy as the downtown location. It’s a little more nondescript, in a building just off of a couple of Overland Park’s busier thoroughfare. What it does offer is a good sized parking lot(which at times will still over flow,) and a very creative floor plan that uses every bit of space available. The staff is really good about getting you in and out and even at super busy times, as long as you don’t have the biggest group(you might want to call ahead for those) the wait won’t be that long. Regarding the food, it smells and tastes just as good as what you remember. I pretty much like it all… the ribs, the burnt ends, onion rings, beans and of course that cheesy corn. If you have room for dessert(don’t feel bad if you don’t,) Jack Stack offers a carrot cake that will stand up against anything in town. And yes, this is Jack Stack, so if you want to go a little more upscale you may go ahead and feel free, but please take my advice and leave your white shirt at home.

Friday night we rolled into town and found this on Unilocal.Lots of reviews and highly rated so here we come. It was maybe 530 pm and there was a crowd of patrons waiting for a table outside as well as inside. This place is the ticket. We are bar people so we snagged two seats and ordered drinks and dinner. We also like sharing appetizers as dinner. We ordered beef and ham BBQ ends(cuts of meat) with spicy sauce, onion rings which are hand made daily and fried mushrooms which are all caps the size of the palm of one’s hand. Huge! It was all plenty of food for us. Onion rings come on 3,6 or 9 and your tempted to go for 9 thinking they have to be small — 6 would have been too many! They are huge and baked with killer spicy seasoning and horseradish sauce on the side. I dipped everything in the BBQ sauce. Love me spice! Bartender was efficient and very fun and professional. She was great. KC is halfway between our homes in Denver and Columbus. Nice treat to have along the way. Nice people and great food!
