So finally I happy to announce I found at least one decent Indian restaurant all around Overland Park and Kansas City ! Food is way way way way decent than any other contemporary in town. I can say that veggie food is good because I am a vegetarian.

Great food. The place is little crowded and is cramped. So everytime you visit, waiting is inevitable. My only complaint is they give you bill even before you are through second serving & they dont even say«take your time» before placing the bill which makes us very uncomfortable and we always gobble up as quickly as we can. Sometimes we even skip desserts. We know that other people are waiting and the place is small, but we go to restaurants to enjoy leisure dining on weekends. So please either expand the building or come up with some other alternative. Do not rush the customers as we are sensible enough to know that there are other customers waiting in line.

A friend and I came here with our kids and I knew right when we walked in that they weren’t going to appreciate kids being there. They don’t have a wide variety for their lunch buffet and we were stared at the entire time. Only reason I’m giving 2 stars is for the rice and water.

Well, when you have experienced authentic Indian food in India it becomes really difficult for your taste buds to approve of anything lesser. This restaurant was no where near that mark. We ordered one mysore masala dosa and one onion rava masala dosa, they are like crepes made of rice and lentils batter and may or may not be filled with veggies or meat. They are suppose to be crispy. The mysore masala dosa was still okay but the onion rava masala was pathetic. I also ordered a mango lassi which is a sweet yogurt drink after being refused tea or coffee. The lassi seemed to be made with mango nectar rather then real mangoes. So that was not good. I would have given it 2 stars for just food but after taking into account the ambience and service I can manage 3 stars.

I went in on a Saturday evening, for dinner. Restaurant seemed to be a small one and was significantly empty. Anyways, it looked neat, but not super clean. We were immediately invited and seated. Menu looked OK but it didn’t carry as many options as a typical Indian restaurant. From the items we had ordered, Naan and Chicken Manchuria were good. Service was not at all good. They didn’t care to fill glasses or serve. May not return anytime soon.

As other reviewers have stated the service and cleanliness is awful at this place. The last time my wife and I ate there she saw a roach. The one manager that is there all the time has the worst attitude towards customers. I would suggest staying away from this place. We haven’t been back since our last experience.

Food tastes good and the price is pretty decent. But ambience is very weak. Cleanliness n service are actually worst. The overall service can be MUCH better.

The service here definitely improved from last year. I was not a huge fan of this place at first, but now I stop here frequently. My favorite here is paneer pakora, paneer briyani and masala dosai.

I have been in overland since 2 years. I really liked the place and food! I am scared, Chillies and Spice, lost its flavor in recent months. There are many restaurants out there outnumbered in many ways!

Just ordered a chicken biryani pickup as usual. It was bland and stuffed with steamed white rice. Apart a few pieces of the chicken i would say the chicken was so underly marinated that it would have been a nuclear threat to poultry food. Seems like their chef changed or they started taking inspiration from recently opened Indian chains which werent inviting either, it served me horrible to say the least. the food sits in the garbage as it was sheer insult to something they used to serve months back. I will pay caution to my step towards this place now. $ 15 wiser now.

My new place for Indian cravings. The chicken curry and lamb saag is delicious with the nan. Price is just a bit cheaper than korma sutra and they actually give you some space but always ready to serve or assist if anything is needed. Only down side is that they only have the buffet for lunch($ 12 – 13) and won’t take any to go orders like butter chicken(my bf is a fanatic). Overall I highly recommend.

I got a grant surprise when I went in to grab buffet to go today. The grumpy old man(and his other grumpy co-workers) was not working the counter! Instead, there were two very pleasant younger men there to take care of me. The grumpy old man was there, but was easily avoided as I didn’t have to interact with him. He was busy patrolling the buffet line… making sure nothing ran out and giving everyone the«don’t eat too much» eye. Although I like chicken, it is my least favorite protein. Although there was 5 or 6 chicken dishes, there was no beef or lamb dishes. That was super disappointing me to m. I don’t remember this being the case any other time I have gone. They always have the same two soups, both of which are delicious, but with the buffet you have to choice one. Or, if you want the Kheer(rice pudding) you have to forgo the soup. Why? Because you only have one container for it. The best aspect of this buffet is that they always have karela(bitter gourd). I have actually never seen it anywhere else. It is fried with onions, tomatoes, and great spices. When you order a buffet to go, you are given a lidded plastic bowl and a divided, lidded Styrofoam container. Today’ I paid a little over $ 14 for one buffet, which I found to be expensive for what was offered and how much you can fit in the container. There was also a sign today that I had not seen before. It advises you that when getting the buffet, you have to get a minimum of 5 items stating that you need to spread your selections among the different dishes. This isn’t a big deal to me, because I like to get a variety of things and don’t care if my foods touch. The sign also tells you that the Naan will be on the side. I don’t remember how it was worded, but it made me feel as though I couldn’t add Naan from the buffet line. Then, when the guy gave me my container, he stressed that they would give me Naan separately. I knew it would be enough, and wanted to add extra to my container, but the grumpy old man was giving me the«no extra Naan, it comes separate» eye. Sure enough… the three small pieces were not enough. The food is good. Good enough to go back every once in a while, but not good enough to make me a regular.

Hav been in kc for 6 mnths … Used to be here every week… Food tastes good, service is okay. Precisely im not interested to write a negative review about any restaurant. But now I have a concern regarding the quality of the food … Food looks stale here … Argued wth them many tyms but hav nt changed their way … Even today i got the stale food… Biryani rice looks dry. So I thought of writing a review to let all the people know about the quality of the food.. I don’t know wats wrng wth the food and health department … They has to inspect and take an action on these kind of restaurants …

Taste — I love it! It is the best biryani I had in KC. Cleanliness and service — the worst ever, i found roaches on the floor, they do not have most of the items on the menu, can you guys please update the menu if you don’t offer them anymore?

Slightly overpriced and got stares as one of the few Caucasians there. Food was picked through/sparse, cold, and mediocre at best. That, and the place was a wee crowded and dark. Customer service was also lacking, but am starting to expect that of most ethnic joints. Save your cents and head to Korma Sutra. Best Indian eatery in KC.

Pros: * Best chicken biriyani among all the Overland Park/Kansas City Indian restaurants. Trust me, I’ve tried them all ! * Good quanity for entrees Cons: * Near 1 hour wait during weekends due to mad rush * The«make-stomach-full»(baking soda, maybe?) added in buffet(well nearly all restaurants do that, I suppose). Your stomach feels bloated just after eating 3 or 4 spoons of rice.

Ordered the chicken Korma, which was on the salty side. The majority of the dish was the korma sauce, with very little chunks of chicken. Service was also a bit iffy, for our party of five, our glasses were not filled, and we had difficulty tracking down servers to ask for water. I was told that the lunch buffet was delicious, I’ll have to try that later on.

This is my first time ever giving a one star to a restaurant. I cannot imagine how this place is functioning. Regardless of the food, for a restaurant, the customer service and satisfaction should always come first but the treatment you receive here is pathetic. I was so socked that I refused to even have take out from this place anymore. The timings on the board say they are open till 10pm but they would literally chase you out if you try to enter at 9:30(not exaggerating). Also, you wouldn’t feel like touching the food the way they serve it. It also seems so unhygienic. Am sure if they got inspected they would have several things to take care off. About the food, is mediocre to good but either ways I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

As I said in the check in, we were pretty much the only caucasians in the joint. To me, this screams authenticity, and the spice of the food confirmed this. Their buffet was one of the spiciest buffets I’ve ever been too. It wasn’t overly spicy, but you could tell that they are not completely spicing-down their food for the honkies! All these things are pros of the place. The food was good. They had items that you don’t see on most buffets. In addition to the buffet, you get mango lassis and naan(if they feel like bringing it to you). Now, on to what everyone has talked about, the service. The service is not good, not good at all. The owner/manager is gruff. The young gent’ waiting on us did not seem that interested in providing things(such as water or complimentary naan). We also found ourselves still eating while the restaurant was closing. This meant that all the staff and female cooks came out of the kitchen to eat. As they ate, the staff just stared/glared at whomever was still in their restaurant past close. No one said anything, they just stared at us. It was a little bizarre. We were obviously a nuisance, and they didn’t mind indirectly letting us know that. I’d say the food was a 4 or 4.5. The service was a 1.5 or 2. So we’ll settle on a 3. I would eat here again, but I also know not to expect good service, just good food.
