Nikos Gyros

The place has a 1970’s look to the dining room, but don’t judge a book by its cover. They have the best gyros around. It has been a college staple for many years. This is my second time I have been here and look forward to returning. Very good!

Addictive deliciousness! Get the double meat gyro. It’s flavor bursting good! The cajun fries are the perfect side too.
While Nikos says they deliver, it’s clearly a takeout place. Delivery could take quite a while. Prices are very reasonable.

We usually order for deliver or pick up. It’s just to grimy and college-​y to eat in.
The gyros are stuffed full. There is no way I could eat it all in one sitting. If you’re not big on gyro meat they have chicken gyros which are also tasty.
Don’t forget to order Cajun Fries!

I was very surprised by what I got at Niko’s Gyros. I did not expect this place to be as good as it did, considering the reviews on this page and the nature of Oshkosh. And at a 10 dollar minimum for delivery, it is attainable food on a tuesday night at home.
There were plenty of onion rings and fries. I didn’t get many breaded mushrooms, but they were good. Oil didn’t taste dirty or overused, which is common on this strip of businesses.
The Gyro plate I got for $ 8.00 was pretty generous, not just in salad sides but in in actual vegetables as well. It came with two large feta cubes as opposed to the traditionally dry, highly-​oxidized feta crumbles. The amount of gyro meat that came in it was satisfactory.
Humorously enough, the double bacon cheeseburger eclipsed the gyro plate in overall quality. The bacon was plentiful and fresh, and it was topped neatly with fresh veggies.
There ARE two big fundamental problems with the dishes at Niko’s Gyros that I ran into:
1: The meat for their gyros is warmed, but does not appear to have hit hard heat at any point in time, as there is a distinct lack of char, caramelization, or any hint that it is not prepackaged, preshaven gyro meat.
2: The cajun fries are simply not cajun. They are nowhere close to cajun. These fries are doused in paprika and oregano. They would need onion/​garlic powder, old bay, celery salt, pepper, cumin, and various other spices before it would need to be considered cajun. I could not get through these.
Despite this, I’m pretty sure this is one of the only places in the tri-​city area that is doing what it’s doing as well as it is. Niko’s Gyros isn’t a place I’d recommend to tourists and it’s doesn’t speak of authenticity, but it’s the best you’ll get in this city. How you choose to interpret that is up to you.

You get a lot of food here. Is it quality? Mehhh.
Then again, when are gyros and kabobs not greasy? The chicken kabob plate that I tried was served with sauteed peppers and onions, which I appreciated. And the greek salad of iceberg lettuce and tomato that comes with many of the entrees and pitas is a nice, refreshing break that almost makes up for the greasiness. Almost.

I have had Nyko’s gyro plate with side salad several times and I love it! The side salad includes tomatoes, cucumbers, onions (I omit the onions), pepperoncinis, Kalamata olives, and feta squares. The gyro is a plentiful portion of savory meat on a pita with onions and tomatoes. The salad is served with Italian dressing on the side and gyros are served with a side of Tzatziki sauce.
I recently had the large salad with a side of gyro meat delivered for lunch, and it was enough food to feed a hungry family!
I had enough for separate three meals.
The place itself is a little underwhelming, but it is an ideal location for late-​night college bar goers. I personally enjoy getting the gyro plate for lunch and having the leftovers for the next day. The serving size is large, as other reviewers have mentioned. But, who doesn’t enjoy some cold gyro the next day? Just me?
If you prefer your Americanized Greek food served on fine china instead of in a styrofoam takeout box, Nyko’s won’t be your first choice. But for a thrifty grad student looking for the best dollar value for a nice gyro and Greek salad, I highly recommend Nyko’s.

One of the best gyros I have had in my lifetime. I can’t believe I’ve been living in Oshkosh over 3 months now and just discovered this place.

The namesake item here, the Gyros themselves are what you should go for if you pay a visit to this place, as they are fantastic! The pita bread is cloud fluffy and the meat is succulent and tender.
Portion sizes here are also quite generous, which is a tad unusual for a Greek restaurant, but I suppose any the type of cuisine can be «wisconsinized» after a period of time.
This place also does delivery, which is awesome. Nice to have a delivery option that is tasty and does not involve Pizza or Chinese food.

A great place to stop in a gyro or a few other good creations. The amount of meat they give is very generous, almost had enough meat to make another gyro with the gyro plate. I would say if you haven’t stopped in before and are real hungry get one gyro to start with and go from there as you will probably be stuffed. The chicken pitas are also good if you aren’t one for gyros. The Cajun fries were also a big hit and are recommended to try. Rounding out the meal with baklava is a nice sweet treat that they make very well. Overall a nice plate with good and fairly priced gyros.

I really enjoyed Nikos. I had a gyro and Cajun fries while I was out one night. My only complaint is that I left my leftovers at a friend’s house, hardly Nikos’ fault.

Really great gyro with a lot of meat. Onions, tomato and tzatziki sauce rounded out this delicious mid night snack. I will certainly be coming back for more.

Way better than I was expecting, and I had even read the previous reviews! I knew it would be good, but not to the point of being blown away. Everyone seemed to endorse the gyro plate, so I had to go with that. The salad was crisp and fresh with a wonderful vinaigrette. The cajun fries were good. The gyro itself was delicious. The meat was real tender and juicy, the veggies and rice in it were well seasoned and just added nicely to it.
The place itself is nothing too fancy, just a small hole in the wall. They do however have an old space invaders knockoff arcade system in the corner. The service from the staff and food though will truly set this place apart. I will definitely stop back here the next time I“m in town.

Exactly what I wanted!
In Oshkosh for EAA and this place came nightly recommended on Unilocal so I had to check it out.
Nice location right next to the college and you can tell that was their main focus. The facility was nothing to brag about but the guys working were very pleasant and helpful. He suggested the gyro of course and the Cajun chicken pita with Swiss cheese. And man did that hit the spot!
They do delivery and call in orders. And have a pretty big array of items on the menu. Overall good bang for your buck and I’m sure would be great late night food.

All I have to say is Cajun fries! Amazing.
Whether you have drunk or sober, Niko’s is going to give you exactly what you crave (bar food). Be prepared for a line at bar close, but oh so worth it.
My favorite go to other than a gyro is the double cheese burger combo w/​Cajun fires. Extra cup of mayo. Yum! Nothing like getting sloshed in Oshkosh then hitting this place up at 3am. Best drunk food ever!
I can thank Niko’s for my freshman 15 lbs. That’s for sure!

Real nice place. I had the gyro with extra meat. Very filling. About 9 bucks. Nice. Park between the signs… two spots.

Great gyros and fresh fries.

This place is so good that I called the manager to tell them how pleased I was. It was my um-​teenth order from there and there has only been one time ever where everything was not perfectly: friendly, faster than promised, very reasonable prices, and the quality of food is stellar. The time that slipped wasn’t perfect, but was so funny that it still makes me laugh.
