This place is very good. We have been searching for a good Venezuelan restaurant for the past 4 years in Orlando and we just found this place! We were so happy and pleasure with the food, though the little bites, like the trquenos, empanadas were better than the food it self. I loved the variety of items on the menu. The waitress was very relatable and easy to answer questions. They also had great holiday options on the menu, that kept it all with the Venezuelan tradition. Everything we tasted was very good, even our daughters loved it all. The selection of natural juices and shakes was very good too. Good prices. Good selection and friendly people. I woodland recommend this place, every though it’s a little out of the way. We would have gone several more times if it was a little more central.

My family and I have lived in east Orlando for much too long and hadn’t discovered Taka Taka until a few years ago. Shame on us. Being Venezuelan, we were surprised and excited to say the least. The arepas are fantastic, with the domino being my favorite. They are STUFFED. I mean, with cheese and black beans seeping out from the sides. There’s no delicate way to eat a good arepa so you might as well dig in and prepare yourself to use about 20 napkins. The tequeños, which are like breaded cheese sticks, are the best I’ve had in years. I usually get the patacon sans the meat but with lots of cheese and it’s orgasmic. You can choose whether you’d like platanos maduros(sweet plantain) or prepared like tostones. The only food item I’m not thrilled with are the empanadas. They’re very small and greasy, but this is just my personal taste speaking. All in all, Taka Taka is a much needed kick of Venezuelan cuisine in Orlando and they do it well.

This place is hands down, the most Disgusting place I have EVER been to! I mean its sad that I went there because of all these«RAVING» reviews from the place only to be sorely disappointed. I looked on Unilocal,and looked at their instagram page that featured amazing photos. My friend and I went there and we selected passionfruit juice, which ended up being a weird smoothie that tasted like dirty water and sugar and ice, It had that fake passionfruit taste, like you couldn’t tell what it was. I got an pastillito, it came out and the dough was super mushy, i didn’t even get to the meat inside because the outside was so bad, i mean how is it possible to have a crunchy AND mushy empanada crust? I set it down and that should have been our cue to leave, but I let it go and ordered an Arepa, I had it once and it was amazing to I wantde to try it again. It came out and once again the dough tasted watery and mushy, the chicken inside tasted canned, and i mean i took a bite and i was done. I almost threw up thats how bad it was. My friend ordered rice and beans and steak which he said tasted like water and ketchup, the meat was tough, and he was hungry so he ended up eating just the rice and beans. By the time our server came back i was ready to go. My friend told her i didn’t like any of the food and she asked if we wanted to go boxes? like really? it was absolutely the WORST place I have ever been to and it sucks because I was so excited to try Venezuelan food which i will not try for a VERY long time. If you go here even after this unbiased, true review, don’t say i didn’t warn you. The worst 27.00 I have ever spent. THISPLACENEEDSTOCLOSENOW!!!

I had lunch at Taka ’ s with two friends. We tried the pastillitos which were delicious. There were 3 cold sauces as accompaniments, garlic, cilantro and hot. All were very tasty. We all had arepas, pork, beef and chicken salad. It was the best chicken salad I ever had with avocado, peas and carrots. We shared dessert, a large portion of flan which was excellent! Also enjoyed the café con leche. I highly recommend a meal at Taka Taka’s.

I have to confess, I am a gringa that loves me some Venezuelan food… especially arepas. Taka Taka is the BEST around. I dream about their arepas when I am away from Orlando. Restaurant is always clean, service is always good, and I always leave satisfied. Whether you are white, non-spanish speaker or born and raised hispanic you will love it and come back for more! Try the rellena pepiada… simply put, an arepa with chicken salad and avocado. Absolutely delicious. Chacapas are the best around. Best of all, it’s cheap!

R U KIDDINGME? the patacon is my new favorite sandwhich in Orlando hands down. I couldnt believe how delicious it was. Also got a mixed arepa with chicken and pork and a cuban. The bread for the cuban was as fresh as can be. Extremely crisp on the out side and warm and chewy on the inside. Back to the bad ass sandwich called Patacon, how come i have never seen this on any other menus? I chose the sweet plantain and not the green. Boy was i right. they even mixed pernil and chicken in it. Comes with shredded cabbage white cheese 2 ways and a slice of ham. the service was as good as you can expect from a busy lunch hour. I put all aspects into consideration when reviewing. 2 ladies in the kitchen and one waitress. their flow is something special let me tell ya. About 25 people in there and they were working it good. this is a small place with no beer or wine so dont expect much for ambience. We are there for the food and damn was it great!!! will be back again and again and again

Not always the most fancy restaurants are the best, this is a small hidden gem, the food taste like it is home made, fresh and with authentic Venezuelan flavor, they serve simple tasty dishes like Arepas, Cachapas, Empanadas, Patacones etc… If you are in the mood for a quick filling bite just go there, you won’t be disappointed, also the service is great, thumbs up for Velvet, one of their cool servers.

This is a small no frills restaurant serving up big flavors. The epanadas, cheese sticks(seriously get these), areaps, and cachapa were all very tasty. This restaurant is my favorite Venezuelan restaurant, I love their cachapa which is a sweet corn cake pancakes like with a delicious queso de mano on the middle, they also have a delicious patacon with asado negro which is my husband favorite. The décor can be better but the food makes for it.

I was curious about the name of the restaurant. It turns out it is was named in memory of a cousin and taka-taka was something they’d say when they were kids. I went to Taka Taka’s with my designated guinea pig, and we decided to try a little of everything since she’d never had Venezuelan food before. We tried empanadas… made with corn dough, crisp on the outside, and flavorful fillings that stood on their own, but the taste was only enhanced by the garlic and green sauces offered. So fresh! The cachapas con queso were exquisite… hand made sweet corn fritters with fresh white cheese inside. I love to order dishes and try each individual item separately just to see if it can stand on its own, and even the cheese was great solo. We also split the tumba rancho, which is an arepa(corn cake) split and filled with wonderful sandwich stuffings. I call it a sandwich, but it really is food for the Gods. To top it off, I told my guinea pig that she must try the traditional Pabellon Criollo, which was also wonderful. Pabellon criollo, for those who are not initiated, is stewed shredded beef reminiscent of cuban ropa vieja. As per my taste test, I tried the black beans separately, and I could have eaten them alone. It was all delicious and freshly made. The young man was personable, helpful, friendly and attentive(and spoke great English). He said he only works there on the weekends. I wish I’d gotten his name, but regardless, stop in and check out the food!

Ok so let’s start off with the bad and get it right the hell out of the way… my entrée was borderline inedible. I ordered the Parrilladas Carne, and while it looked and smelled delicious, it was so unbelievably salty that I can only think the cook had a grand mal seizure during the seasoning process and didn’t realize he coated the thing in about a cup and a half of salt. I took about three bites and that was it for me. I know nothing — absolutely nothing — about Venezuelan cuisine, so maybe they really like their salt in certain dishes, but I have to think it was a mistake of some sort. So why the 4-star review if I couldn’t even eat my entrée? Because everything else we ordered was really great. Wife had the Bistec Encebollado o Empanizado and it was spot on perfect deliciousness. Luckily it was so large that we both split it as our entrée, so I didn’t even bother complaining about mine. We also polished off a Cachapas con Queso, which is like a sweet corn pancake filled with melted white cheese… that thing is insane. We had it as an appetizer but I’d recommend getting it for dessert instead… its really great, but so sweet that you feel a little guilty having it as a starter. Service was friendly, waitress treated us as if she was genuinely happy to see us — and that makes any meal taste better. I’ll be back…(I’ll just steer clear of the Parrilladas Carne.)

I’m Venezuelan and I know what a meal from home should taste like. I’ve been here many times am while the food is good the main thing Taka Taka lacks is great costumer service, or any costumer service for that matter. The thing I love most about eating at any Latin American restaurant is that the patrons usually make you feel right at home and they are also so efficient and their eagerness to make sure they go beyond to make customers feel like they are having the best experience possible. To me, quality costumer service and obviously good food is what makes a restaurant truly deserve a high rating but unfortunately Taka Taka disappoints. As far as the food goes, they have some of the best cachapas I’ve had while living in the U.S. But again, if great costumer service isn’t there then it really doesn’t matter how good your food is.

I was really disappointed when I was unable to try this place with the Lunch Bunch folks, especially after seeing their pictures and reading their reviews. Needless to say, I was incredibly excited when I finally got a chance to try it a couple of weeks later. And they didn’t disappoint! We tried Empanadas, an Arepa, and the Bistec Encebollado o Empanizado, along with a couple of fruit juices. Everything was delicious and service was wonderful. We couldn’t wait to return. And return we did. Unfortunately, our second visit wasn’t quite as wonderful. The food was still amazing, which is why we’ll continue to come back for more. But service and ambience was just… awkward. Somehow, we had someone that we hadn’t seen in our first visit serve us, and he could barely speak English or read the menu. That was a problem since we weren’t able to just point at things on the menu or ask questions about the differences between dishes. At least he was pretty nice. It was also somewhat of an awkward time(not quite lunch) and we were alone for a little bit. Then, there were a couple more people. They seemed to be family friends or at least friendly to an extent where they were treating the restaurant like it was a friend’s living room. They were talking loudly and joking around, which made it really awkward for us as we felt we were intruding their home when really we were just trying to enjoy the food this restaurant offers. We won’t let this incident deter us from returning, though. It might just be to-go instead.

I don’t think I’d ever had Venezuelan food before, but the menu looked quite similar to Cuban, which I enjoy, so I’d thought I’d try it out. My girlfriend ordered the rice and beans as a meal, and I decided on the steak and onions with sides of tostones and sweet plantains. * The tostones were slightly delayed from the rest of our food because they were still being pounded flat and fried, which means they were incredibly fresh and crispy when they did arrive. Well worth the small wait! * The sweet plantains were easily the best I’ve ever had. They were prepared to the perfect consistency(not mushy like some places), and the outside had a very slight crisp to it. * I don’t know what seasonings they put into their rice and black beans, but I was shocked at how flavorful they were. Big thumbs up from my girlfriend as well. * Perhaps surprisingly, the steak and onions by themselves were only okay. However, they have quite a few sauces available that I very much enjoyed(and recommend) on my steak. Overall, a great lunch. I can’t wait to go back and try some of their other options.

Taka Taka’s Café was our destination for a March Lunch Bunch. Our group of eight was made quite comfortable thanks to our gracious waitress Yadira, who also happened to be celebrating her birthday that day. The restaurant had balloons and signs up for her, very touching! I had never eaten Venezuelan food before and I saw that folks had very good things to say about Taka Taka’s. I thought it’s always more fun exploring new places with friends, so we made the drive out East Colonial to see what it was all about. I appreciate that the menu was pretty descriptive. There were so many tasty options to choose from. We all ordered our own plates for lunch, but we couldn’t wait to share the deliciousness with each other. This allowed us all to try a bit more as we passed the plates around. I think Bryan died and went to culinary heaven! I lost track of everything I ate, which is a disappointment because I would love to get a number of those dishes again. I do know that Bryan and I ordered the Pabellón Criollo & the Pollo Arepas. The flavors in the dishes were great and if that weren’t enough Yarida brought out a number of sauces to put on the food. I couldn’t remember what they all were, but the green stuff was the bomb! We had made ourselves at home during our lunch and felt the love from the kitchen and we wanted to thank them. The ladies came out, so we could applaud their tasty work. We wrapped up our lunch with a piece of cake to share among the group. I wished I had saved my Café con leche to go with it; it would have complimented it quite nicely. We had a fantastic lunch and I look forward to exploring more of Taka Taka’s menu.

If you want to try Authentic Venezuelan Food, this is the place to check out! Great cachapas, pabellon, and empanadas! I can’t wait to go back and try their arepas. Like any other Spanish restaurant, the service could be slow because is a family own business and they only have a couple of people doing all the jobs: servers, cashiers, runners, etc… But I can tell you than when the food comes out you won’t be disappointed! I will definitely recommend Taka Taka, as I am from Venezuela and had try different places here in Orlando, preferring this place over all of the other ones.
