Orlando Swing Dance

The night we went the staff seemed disorganized and had technical difficulties, however, wife and we enjoyed ourselves and will be coming again to continue to learn how to swing dance. Fun night for those looking for something different to do! Parking is a mess… I would suggest to get there early to avoid looking for a parking spot on the street.

So I was pretty excited about this place. Saw the pictures, the swing band and tons of people, I was pumped and wanted to take the classes. Made reservations online, through Unilocal,which redirects you to their system. Was easily made and paid for our dance lesson. Dance lesson was scheduled for 7pm. We got there around 6:46pm and asked where could we park. Parking area is very small and has a weird layout. We checked in and the lady upfront said, «Well we received somebody’s reservation but it had no name or everything, so I’m guessing it’s you, come in!». We were the first ones there, so no issues with the reservation. But I thought it was pretty crazy that they were just «guessing» it was me. Asides from that, dance lesson started and it was raining cats and dogs so you could barely hear the instructors. Instructor let us know that they usually have speakers and microphones, but that the equipment was late. The first 30 minutes of the dance lesson was a total disappointment… We couldn’t hear the instructors, because of the rain and they even said that we would have to practice without music until the equipment arrived. 7:30pm, equipment is quickly set up and instructors are FINALLY given mics. We can finally hear them… After that it wasn’t so bad and we had fun. I would definitely come again, but I would hope for them to be more organized. No idea of who reserved what? Late equipment? No mics? Not being able to hear the instructors? Yeah, I hope it was only that night… because I really liked the concept and the instructors were nice. I will provide update next time I come to this place again.

Best time ever! Great beginner lesson, gives you enough to start dancing that night! Everyone has as so friendly. Really appreciate there is no drinking.

I discovered this place when I was a junior in high school, and I love it to death. It was my introduction to swing, and the community there couldn’t be friendlier. It is a magnificent introduction to the style of dance, and the large number of regulars is a testament to Orlando Swing Dance’s staying power. Go to the beginner lessons multiple times, because every instructor is different and they all bring something new to the table. Every DJ, as well, is different, but the music is consistently great. This place is a really stellar way to start swinging, and I heartily recommend to anyone interested in the dance.

So excited to see Orlando Swing Dance on Unilocal!I’m selfishly here to rave about it so that I’ll have more fun, new people to dance with.
Every 2^nd and 4^th Saturday, they put on a great dance at the Whirl and Twirl Square Dance Club. 7−8pm is a beginners lesson, and then there’s social dancing from 8−11pm. I still hit up the lessons, as it’s a great way to make new friends! The lesson is included with the dance admission, which is $ 8, $ 6 if you’re a student with an ID, $ 5 if you are a part of Orlando Swing Dance membership (I know they have other lessons and dances on various nights).
The lessons are really easy to follow, and will give you a great foundation for your first ever social dance! And when they say social, they mean social! Don’t plan on coming here with 1 person and being with them all night. Everyone is super friendly, and whether you’re brand new or experienced, you’ll get invited to dance by everyone!
It does get warm inside, so make sure to wear something light, put on your slickest dancing shoes, and get ready for fun! There is a water fountain right by the door, stay hydrated!

There’s no better place to be on a Saturday night in Orlando if you like swing dancing, or if you want to try it out. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
