VIP Very Intimate Pleasures

One reviewer put it perfectly — this place is large, but it’s not intimidating or over the top. The ceiling is strange… but that’s the most offensive thing about this place.
Beware that this place has been known to card you right when you walk in the door — especially on Thursday/​Friday nights to keep «kids» out. Speaking of… there was a sign on the door when I visited that said, «Please no babies or children in the store.» I should have taken a picture… I honestly couldn’t believe it.
The staff here is why I always come here versus any other bricks and mortar store of this kind. They’ve been around for many years and have always kept a great reputation and an amazing staff on hand. The people they employ are actually really well educated and know a good chunk about the products on the floor and what they don’t — they know exactly who to have you speak to.
They don’t make anything a big deal or try to be flirtatious with you (this was so weird at the shop by the highway near Pilot in Milford — trucker’s paradise… *shudders*). These girls handle themselves professionally and really do treat everyone with respect. I’m sure they see an interesting array of people, so I’m sure they get plenty of practice.
Their selection of products is really vast — my only suggestion would be to not let prices sway you to a decision — there are many brands in many different price points. Though, often with these kind of things, more money means better quality, longer lasting, and less likely to break. Secondly — ask for help. If you aren’t familiar with the brands (there’s about 10−20+ featured in each aisle) then don’t just try to guess. Some of the brands are Chinese based and don’t have any branding on them about BPA requirements, lead requirements, etc. (these are «intimate pleasures» so I imagine you wouldn’t like to get poisoned by them.)
If you’re in need of something, visit here. Unless it’s something really, REALLY out of the box, they’re likely to carry it and in all the color options and styles offered by the company. And if they don’t — ask one of the staff, I’m sure there’s a better option or a similar one they can direct you to.

I’m not saying I’m in the market for a cheap dildo, but if I were, I wouldn’t find it here.
Besides the overpriced lubricants, toys, costumes, and condoms, the employees have been trained to ask customers if they can be helped with anything – constantly. It felt like I was trying to take a dump but my mom kept banging on the door and asking how much longer until I was done. There is a line between good customer service and being annoying and the employees at VIP have been instructed to ejaculate entirely over it. It was like I was accidentally stepping on customer service land mines, especially those nasty wooden ones that the metal detector doesn’t pick up.
With that out of the way, I should compliment VIP on its enormous selection. A sex shop rarely has everything but VIP gets close. That is the primary reason why I don’t strap this store into a sex swing and shove a ball gag in its mouth.
Also, they sold individual condoms at over a buck each – making this the first time in history it’s cheaper to just have the baby.

I love VIP. It has a great selection, and employess are great and helpful if you need to try on lingerie (unlike another boutique, they have the female employees do this… there’s another shop that has a guy in the fitting room… really, really weird). But, at VIP, they are great about helping you find a size or matching accessories without being creepy. Yes, there were a few weirdos shopping, and some immature people (really if you are going to laugh the whole time, don’t come in), but overall just regular people shopping. I highly recommend VIP. Wide variety of products and friendly, helpful staff.

Wal-​Mart is to grocery stores as this place is to sophisticated adult joy. Mainly, dreck… but it beats brushing up against the trannies on 8^th Ave & 42^nd in the 80s.

Stop in here from time to time, mostly to just look around with the occasional purchase. Large shop, but kinda pricey with certain items. Great variety.

I am reviewing this from the perspective of toys/​harnesses/​lingerie (NOT for porn), for which it is as good as it gets for a brick and mortar novelty store.
Employees are friendly but not overbearing. No one was judgemental so this store seems (to me) friendly to all.
Some are very knowledgeable of the lubes, toys, and harnesses from personal experience, which is a plus.
Lingerie selection is quite varied and much better than LUV.
You can’t get the deals here that are available online so you pay for the help provided by the employees.

They really have *everything* you could ever or never ever want to see or buy here. I have bought many great bday cards here and bachelorette party gifts. A great resource for all your sexy sexual needs!

I’ll admit it – I love this place. It’s a mix of crazy things that make you go «who the heck would use that??» to things that a couple could definitely make use of! Everyone that works there is super, super nice and helpful – they don’t make you feel uncomfortable at all. It was kind of a riot bringing my boy here the first time – I’ve been here so many times with friends and he had never once been in an «adult store.» Poor boy was so confused and didn’t know where to look – lol. They have an awesome Halloween costume selection – although, I will admit I have only bought one from here. I tend to try them on here and then order them online for cheaper… Fun place to check out, though!

Usually I don’t have that much free time while I’m in CT, but for some reason I found time for VIP!
After a few martinis with the girls last Christmas I was in amazement going down the highway at the array of «adult» toy stores CT now has. Well, being the curious consumer that I am, I *ahem* stepped in.
Not only is this place large, its not as scary or tacky as other stores of their nature. Um, not that I’ve been to any of those. EVER.
The clientele is varied – yes you do get trench coats and dodgy eyed individuals, or women wandering the aisles shouting «Hey! I didn’t know they had pirate porn… awesome!» or the dude with 10 DVD’s in his hand shaking his head mumbling «of course there’s pirate porn».
I walked out with a few items that fit in my carry on and well, plenty enough to get it on when I got home. Shh, don’t tell.

VIP has my vote!
VIP is a great place to go for the first-​time (or any-​time) porn store shopper. Long gone are the days of shady corner porn shops once VIP moved into town.
Very Intimate Pleasures is the Wal*Mart of adult/​novelty stores. It’s huge. You could easily kill an hour or more in here if it’s your first time going through. They have a superb selection of toys, videos, bondage, lingerie, lubes, gag gifts/​fun stuff… (and even some swords and smoking paraphernalia). The staff is helpful, respectful, although not always knowledgeable (like for example, one girl I talked to didn’t know what A «Pin Up Girl» was). Either way, I will miss VIP immensely when I move out of the area in a few months.

Being a good Catholic school girl, my friends and I have spent a lot of time here, usually post-​bar just wandering. They have a lot of fun stuff and sometimes even some cute lingerie. Huge selection of vibrators and lubes. They carry Kama Sutra, one of my favorite product lines too. It seems dirty yes. And that man returning 13 DVDs and renting another 15 (and wearing a long trench coat) is damn creepy. But really, for an «adult» store, it’s pretty nice. Much less sketchy than Penthouse.

V.I.P. or «very intimate pleasure» has a wide range of naughty toys, videos, crazy piercings, pipes, bongs, and all sorts of fun stuff. it’s kind of disturbing that this place is so huge, but i guess that’s what happens in small towns? overall, it feels like «Hot Topic» but for people over 21… seriously.
