The team at this U-Haul location needs training in customer service. I had never felt more unwelcomed at a business when I walked into this location. It was around 4PM on a Thursday, and traffic on local roads was heavy. My mother and I arrived 10 minutes late to pick up our rental truck because of the traffic. When we walked in and stood in line, three employees were discussing something at the counter, so we waited to be called. When my mother finally was able to step to the counter, the manager said, «One second,» and continued to look at her computer screen. She asked her employee, Tom, to help us. Tom said, «I’m not supposed to be here.»(I guess it was the end of his shift). The manager replied, «Well, you’re still here.» Tom begrudgingly helped my mother and I and spoke to us with a bad attitude throughout the exchange. It took us extra 10 minutes to get to U-Haul from West Haven because of traffic… something we couldn’t control. Tom, wanting to leave work, was cold and stern towards us. When I notified him of a dent on the truck, he let out a big sigh and hesitantly headed outside. What the hell did my mother and I do for him or the manager to treat us that way… like we were annoying them? WEWEREPAYINGCUSTOMERS!!!

I wish I could give these idiots a negative star. Dealing with this team of card carrying MENSA members was the worst UHaul experience I’ve ever had. I shipped the ‘u-box’ pods across country for a move to this location, received and email acknowledge they had arrived and then decided to call just to confirm. I called three times, and left three messages, because apparently they don’t answer phones here. So, when I arrived to pick up my three u-boxes, I was told they only had one trailer, so I had to drive it home, unload, then come back for the second and third trailer. So… Those movers I have scheduled to come and unload everything, that’s not gonna work, is it??? Then, the whiz kid manager, Roger, got in my husbands face, actually trying to start a physical fight with him(again stupid, since Rog was pushing 5’5) and was yelling«Yeah– we only have one trailer– what are you gonna do about it?!» SERIOUSLY?!? Nice customer service. Two words — never again. Sticking with PODS next time — more expensive, but worth the aggregation-free move.

I went here a few years ago and had them install a towing hitch on my vehicle. When I called for prices… they were VERY uneducated in the products. They could tell me that they sold them, but couldn’t give me details beyond that. I could only get the«if I see your vehicle.» Now with this in mind… I probably should’ve ran in the other direction VERY fast… but honestly I was beyond desparate. I knew they could TELL me specifications(I was looking for) BUT knew how to install them. So I had them install a good sized hitch for the maximum towing capabilites my car manufacturer said it could handle. I’ve had the hitch for a a number of years & it’s been great since day one. However, I called back today to ask about a small replacement part. said I couldn’t recall specs on tow I had on my vehicle. can they plz look up the specs …“well I don’t remember what size you got installed on your car…” SERIOUSLY? …I didin’t ask you to remember.(I only thought… didn’t say out loud.) Long.short…they don’t know ANY of their products at all. only know how to install them. This business seems to be content w/poor customer service ratings as they only have warm bodies in the store. NOT employees who know the business! How frustrating when you have to teach someone their job.
