This is a real, authentic Italian food restaurant. The rolls! OMG. The rolls are amazing. My kids were knocking me around trying to get the rolls before my husband and I could get any. The salad. OMG. The salad is soo good! The fettuccine. For real.

Salad was great! Rolls were great! Franco’s Platter was great! Kids loved their spaghetti! Walked in at 6:30 pm on Monday and sat right down with a party of 7. New owner sat us and was welcoming and great!

I’ve been going to franco’s since I was a teenager, and I’ve always loved the grouper, pizza, and the delicious salad dressing. Went a couple weeks ago, and what a change! First, the grouper was soggy, and the pizza sauce was disgusting. I used to compare the pizza to a Brooklyn quality slice, but no more. Salad dressing, which franco’s used to sell to customers, is now inedible. Heard there’s a new owner, so I assume that’s why it changed. I asked to speak to the manager, whom I’ve always complimented over the years, and I was told she is no longer there. I can only assume that new management has decided to change recipes that have worked for decades. Don’t let the Jersey accents fool you. .these folks don’t know Italian food.

Franco’s is definitely not a standout Italian restaurant. We have tried their pizza and pasta and nothing really stood out as delicious. Service has been good to spotty during our 3 times eating there. I think in a pinch, Franco’s would be okay but I don’t anticipate returning.

This place was great & well worth the wait. Fresh baked dinner rolls & nice Italian house salad. Wide variety of specialty pastas or choose your own combos. The pizza the kids ordered was good & thick crust. I had the veal piccata & was some of the best I have ever had. Finished off w/homemade fried cheesecake w/caramelized pecan sauce. Yum.

I didn’t think it was too bad, it could have been worse. Salad. and bread were great, however, I had the lasagna, and the tomato sauce was cooked a little too much. Service was slow, but the waitress was polite.

This place is a great secret! Tucked in amongst the high price beach condos and only steps away from the ocean, this Italian restaurant is consistently delicious and very reasonably priced. Not much else for me to say but I don’t think it will disappoint any person that likes casual, family style Italian cuisine. The stuffed with sausage mushrooms are the best I’ve had and the family salad is very robust and loaded with goodies. Even the alcohol is reasonably priced!

I went during lunch. The food was excellent! The wait staff was kind and pleasant. The hostess was so friendly to us. Only downfall is the prices. The cheapest thing Is a a $ 10 pizza. However. The quality of food makes up for the prices!

I come to Orange Beach yearly and I never miss this quirky Italian restaurant for my final supper in the city. The service is quick. The salad is free, tasty, and a great appetizer. The main course is arrives before you’re even through munching you feta-cheese-vinegar soaked lettuce. The menu is has so many choices but I always get the Eggplant Parmigiana. I crave it all year I’m away. I’m from Nashville so I’ve good Italian joints where I live. This place ranks right up there with any them. It’s really are worth a try!

Firstly, this restaurant would be three stars if they muzzled the loud 50 something blonde manager. If you searched for an audio definition of «cackle» it would sound like her… on a megaphone. She is LOUD! LOUD! LOUD! LOUD. Loud over fairly loud music. Loud over the other diners. LOUD from 40 feet away. She talks constantly. LOUDCACKLES all during dinner. Then she talks about her life, her likes, the waiters schedules, anything, but she will not shut up, then she Cackles to punctuate each paragraph. The food. Good, not great. Large portions, good red sauce, great salad, hot, rolls, fast, friendly, professional service. Caveat: disgusting meatballs. No seasoning at all. Just tastes like ground meat out of the package. The sauce couldn’t even hide how bad it tasted. If the manager would duct tape her mouth, maybe worth a visit. I suggest take-out. I sympathize with the wait staff.

Not impressed. Ordered the Franco Platter which comes with Fettucine Alfredo, chicken parmigiana, and lasagna and it was all just slopped on the plate and had no taste.

Really the only thing I liked was the salad in this place. My friends originally raved about The rolls the last time they went here. However, this time we three agreed they weren’t that terrific. We ordered a thick crust pizza because we heard that the thin crust was cracker like. The pizza wasn’t all that good. The dough was flavorless unlike Bella Luna’s dough. It was way too chewy for me And way too floury. But, the salad was good. It wasn’t overdressed And it was large enough to feed three of us. Does this place deserve three stars no it doesn’t, but it is a strong two and half star.

It’s ok. Salad was nothing special. We had the franco’s And napales platter. We thought we would try a lil of everything. The food was bland and slightly warm. Everything was covered in red sauce. The chicken breast had no flavor. We were extremely disappointed after a week in orange beach on the last night we have out worse meal. The 2 star is for the bartender who was super nice. His drinks were right on.

I agree with the other reviewers, on Franco’s food being average, but they have something that is hard to find in a restaurant in Orange Beach– a wine list. We got a bottle of Banfi Chianti Reserva for $ 38. That was a steal. I will also say the calamari appetiser was quite good. They were quite busy and we didn’t see much of our server but our needs were met, over all I would return.

Oh no, no, no. This place was horrible. First — the wine we ordered was definitely not what we got. It tasted like a cheap Moscato, not the sauvignon blanc we both like. It was horrible. Second — I ordered the seafood lasagna. Sounded great — crab, shrimp and scallops? Yes, please! Only wait! What’s that I see? KRAB! And mini canned shrimp! GAG! I was super annoyed that I’d paid $ 16.95 for KRAB to be baked into this little dish. Doesn’t everyone know that you can’t cook fake krab? It was seriously disgusting. Oh, and there wasn’t a single scallop I could find in there and only 2 of the tiny shrimp. All around just a really bad, bad choice. Service wasn’t great either.

The first time, my bf gave me carry-out from this restaurant which was veal marsala, and it was absolutely delicious. I had to give this restaurant a visit after that. The wait was about 10 minutes. I ordered the veal parmigiana and pecan cheesecake when I went. It was delicious. The waiter we had was very attentive. The only downside was the cappuccino I ordered tasted like water. Other than that, the food was great.

Franco’s is just okay. The food is average Italian food. I actually prefer Olive Garden over Franco’s. The service was barely passable. We had the case of the disappearing waitress. She would check in and then disappear for very long stretches and let our salad, bread, and drinks run out. I’ve had better meals in this area and definitely had better service and Italian food at other restaurants.

Avoid pizza for takeout! Got ours to condo and both were undercooked. Thin crust was soggy and lacked a decent amount of cheese, regular crust was still raw in the middle, even after we put in oven to reheat. Management was responsive and offered to recook or comp a future meal. May try again but not for takeout. Salad and garlic rolls were good and offered as bottomless when dining in.

In a region filled with fried seafood restaurants everywhere you look, Franco’s is a welcome break. It’s not the best italian I’ve ever had, and it’s not the nicest restaurant I’ve ever been in, but the food is decent. It’s super casual and the interior looks like a 1982 Appleby’s. Coffee comes in mugs that look like they came out of someone’s kitchen. Service is ok. Never had anyone truly outstanding… just a monotone delivery of the specials in rapid-fire southern Alabama accent where I catch every 4th or 5th word. I usually opt for the build-your-own pasta dish and it’s alright. The marinara sauce and the alfredo sauce both taste very generic. The salad is crazy oily but the little mini-garlic loaves of bread are delicious! Those little rolls keep this from being a 2-star review. All in all, it’s an OK place. It’s something different. And for a non-fried seafood eater, I’m glad it’s here.
