Fish Trap Charters

Captain Al & his deck hand Cole were great! Very patient with a bunch of land-​lovers from Texas! Cole took time to explain everything in great detail (a couple of times actually!) They helped me & my family land the fish & Captain Al not only put us on the fish, he hooked em & passed it over to the nearest guest. We caught our limit on red snapper and a couple of Kings too. Every time we lost our bait, Cole was right there to bait the hook again, even though I told him I would bait it myself, he was much faster than I!
They are very professional and seemed to know what they’re doing (although I am a rookie). But I could tell they knew their stuff when we got back and all the other guys were cleaning fish with a knife & our guys got an electric knife out! Much faster than the manual way.
I also noticed that we threw back several fish that were as big or bigger than some that the other boats were bringing in.
I really enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend Fish Trap Charters to anyone, especially first-​timers. I promise you’ll be hooked!

Came to Gulf Shores and decided we wanted to try some deep sea fishing. I saw an ad for Fish Trap and captain Al. We were a tad nervous taking kids out and none of us having any experience with charter. Capt Al quieted all fear and two days later we were aboard the Fish Trap. Captain Sean and deckhand Ross were unbelievable! We caught a ton of fish from all species and had of course some monsters that got away. They cleaned all of the fish for us and we had a fabulous dinner at the wolf bay lodge where they cook em after we hook em. Our first experience could not have been better. Thanks to Miss Karen, Al, Sean, and Ross. Great memories!

We’ve been out with Captain Al 4 times now and each time as pleased as the previous. He’s consistently gotten us on fish, even on days that appear to be slower based on other boats catches. When in season we’ve always landed out limit on snapper and he’s usually been able to mix it up some as well. In addition to the usual red, white, vermillion snapper we’ve come away with trigger fish, Spanish and king mackerel, and on one occasion a 150 lb bull shark.
Beyond getting us on fish their quality of service is great. He’s very sociable and good with younger ones (we’ve taken 10 year olds out as well as adults only groups). Their service is summed up well in that when you arrive back at the dock his wife is there waiting with smoked snapper dip (Cajun and regular) with crackers to enjoy while they’re cleaning your catch.
