Not a bad choice when you want something other than Subway/Jimmy Johns. A decent variety to choose from for a «New York» deli in the middle of America.

Had a $ 15 Groupon to use so I rang up on my way home and ordered two 6″ subs to go for dinner. They have many options including variations of turkey, chicken breast, roast beef, ham, vegetarian and even Nathan’s famous hot dogs but I noticed that quite a few of their specialty sandwiches and New York Favorites include pastrami. With the slogan«World Famous New York Pastrami — One Bite … And You’re There!» it seemed like the thing to order. I opted for the King of Queens(pastrami, swiss, tomato, coleslaw, Russian dressing) served hot on a hero roll. My spouse decided to play it safe with the Bridge Hampton(turkey, bacon, swiss, lettuce, tomato, avocado, mayo). Since the total didn’t add up to $ 15, I threw in a couple bags of chips. Other sides include leafy green salads, assorted deli salads made daily and soups. Our sandwiches were delicious and filling. The staff was pleasant and efficient. I would come here again, especially when craving pastrami!

I like this place and have eaten here before — i admit that it’s been about 1.5 years since I have eaten there mostly because the last couple of times I did — I was mauled by fruit flies and while I know they are annoying and hard to get rid of — I hate them bugging me while I eat. So I was here for food to go and while the food was good — they made a significant mistake. However when I called, the manager was very apologetic and wanted to fix it and make it right. I probably would have only gone with 3 stars had he not been so nice and helpful. I still will be getting sandwiches from this place — they are worth it for the price.

We visited Gandolfo’s for the first time. Our sandwiches, the Urban Cowboy and the Knickerbocker, were very good. Since the menu has so many different sandwich choices available we’ll definitely be back. The service was very quick and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that anytime someone enters the draft from outside can be felt all the way up at the ordering area.

Food was good, but every table and booth was filthy! There was only one other couple eating so there was really no excuse for it.

I have eaten here a few times now and it’s been pretty good every time. I like the variety of sandwiches they have here. I am a vegetarian, so it is hard to make a sandwich have a great taste!

We give up. As much as these sandwiches cost, we’d like to get them the way we ordered. We’ve looked past a few mistakes here and there, people are human, I’ve worked in food service, mistakes happen but constantly getting things still on the sandwich that we requested not to be, things not on the sandwich that we did request… In our defense, things we order are like this: no tomato, add pickle… no mayo, add spicy mustard. Today our sandwiches were so beyond backwards and completely, completely wrong. The woman at the register was very polite and apologized, offering us money back and to personally remake the sandwiches. We told her we appreciated it but wouldn’t be back. It’s one thing if it happens one or twice, but the past 6 times(at $ 22 for two sandwiches and chips, it adds up) our orders have been wrong. The food is good, but we’ve tried enough(too many) times to just get a sandwich that we wanted.

Expensive. 16 bucks for a six-inch cream cheese Philly and a Rockefeller Reuben with one small drink. Reuben was good. But nothing to write home about. Philly cream cheese was tasteless. Pass

I’ve been craving a great pastrami on rye for quite some time. Heard that this is the place to go… Sadly the recommendation was incorrect. The sandwich was pure grease and overpriced. I asked for it to go and was handed a half-wrapped sandwich with no bag oozing grease onto my hand. Once home it was fatty, and worse quality meat than what I expect to find at Arby’s.

Don’t believe the commercial: this is not a real New York deli. Forget your dreams of really high quality cured meats and great bread. Picture Blimpie, but with more menu options. A good place to grab a bite if you’re nearby and on the go. Just don’t expect the quality of a stereotypical New York deli.

The menu is huge and so far I have loved everything I’ve tried. The workers are super friendly and offer great suggestions. Super exciting that they serve breakfast sandwiches all day. I always get my order to-go and it is ready in a few minutes!

Great selection and probably one of the best places to get breakfast sandwiches in Omaha.

My Pastrami sandwich was very greasy and had way too much brown mustard. I won’t be back.

The menu is overwhelming and the staff recommendations were sub par. No. Just no.

Gandolfo’s has a huge selection of sammiches to choose from, none of which break the bank(then again, it’s a sandwich shop so you’d expect it to be affordable). The bread is, as others have noted, pretty good while the meats and cheeses bring the flavor to the party. They’re fast, faster than some Jimmy John’s I’ve visited in fact, and I’ve never really had a bad sandwich from them. Take care, though, if you’re on a diet. Like many sandwich shops that feel healthy,(I’m looking at you, Subway), a full meal from this place can easily run well over a thousand calories without feeling that rich. Apparently they deliver as well, but I’ve not had the opportunity to comment on their speediness since I live across the street.

Noticed one reviewer said some combos that didn’t work with each other. Here’s the thing, they have so many different sandwiches that if they don’t have the combo you want, they will create it. Place is really good and really fresh. There also is a location out near 175th and Center as well. Try the Dagwood, crazy big and delicious. One drawback for me was that it was a little overpriced but nothing too drastic.

Pros: Great bread, good meats, hits the spot Cons: Some of the combinations aren’t very good Okay, so one day you decide you need to have that New York pastrami sandwich that you so crave from that neighborhood deli you loved in Brooklyn, but then you cringe as you forget you’re in the Midwest and New York City is a 1,250 mile trek from the big O. Your two options are A.) Save lots of subway and cab faire or B.) Hit up Gandolfo’s in either Aksarben or next to Big Fred’s. Yeah, so I never have lived in NYC, but I’ve done some traveling up there and indeed at times have had the following scenario above happen to me(except it might have been Queens, or Manhattan, or Greenwich Village…). Gandolfo’s hits the spot when I need a pastrami fix. The bread is fresh, as it appears to be warm out of the oven. The meats are tasty, neither too wet or too dry. I like the décor with the New York memorabilia. I always enjoy themed restaurants, especially after cities in our own country. It makes me forget I’m in Omaha, if only until I’m finished eating. I knock a star off because some of the combinations are strange and don’t mesh well together. I’ve had some that are fantastic, but I’ve had many others that are awful or lacking. I’m all for creativity, but creativity does have its limits, including when it comes to food. Next time you want a New York style sandwich, pass on 5th street and head to 60th and Center, or 120th and Pacific, for a slice of NYC style in the Great Plains.

Look… if you like sandwiches you have to come here for a fix. They do it right. The bread is good. The combinations are good. The meats are very tasty… especially the pastrami. The price is right. And they wrap it in butcher paper with the ends twisted like a real deli sandwich. The other sandwich places could learn a thing or two from this place.
