Whispering Woods Hotel & Conference Center

I would give 0 stars if I could. We originally booked a room at the Fairfield in Marriott 6 weeks in advance to our stay, 1 hour before we were to arrive they emailed us and said they had moved our reservation to a sister company because they were overbooked, even though we booked 6 weeks before, they moved us without even asking. So whispering woods is the sister hotel. It is freaking nasty, it smells, it is very dirty. There are piles of dirt and debris in the hallways and the rooms, nasty popcorn ceilings that are molded and paint chipping off the walls. The free WiFi was a joke and the lady at the front desk was the rudest person ever. This place is a dump.

Looks like older hotel they have tried to update. Popcorn ceiling sort of cracking and falling over the shower. Sliding doors are gross in our particular room. (Pictures posted.) Overall, fairly clean otherwise. Common areas look pretty good.
Beds are billed as queen, but definitely only full-​size in our room. Not very comfortable, in my opinion. Kind of cheap-​feeling mattresses. Thin coverlets. That and a sheet sandwich blanket that you wonder if washed ever.
WiFi stinks… very slow for any streaming… which is surprising since it is a hotel that seems to cater to business travel.
Breakfast is included and is good. At night, same area where you go for bfast is a bar, but not a nightclub, so ok.

Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever been to in my life. I know hotels do not let you check in until 3pm or so so I booked the night before also to guarantee my early arrival. I arrived at 7:30 am having already booked the for the previous night to guarantee my room. As I went up to the front desk after my 9 hour drive I gave her my info and she said my reservation had been cancelled to die a no show and that they sold my room. So basically the hotel made double the money on the exact same room. They sold the same room twice, because refunding was not an option. That my friends is called stealing. I inquired about their no show policy and she told me that if I didn’t arrive by 7pm that is what will happen. I then showed her the time of my booking, which was 10pm. So in what universe was it possible for me to go 3 hours back in time and tell them I was to be late if I booked at 10 and no show policy is at 7. So instead of causing a scene I asked if I could get a room which I already paid for and she asked would I like a handicap room? Seriously I said I just want my room that you so gladly took the money for. I started getting pretty tense and she proceeded to radio over the in house police as if I was going to get violent or something. I told her what will this hotel do to accommodate and she kept saying it’s not our fault it’s yours. All in all I had to drive around for 3 hours before I could get a room. Got into my room was very disturbing. Moldy ceiling filthy all the way around. Avoid this place at all costs!!!

This is my second stay here for a modeling convention. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is delicious and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Quenton at the front desk is the best!

Do not bother to stay here. The conference facilities aren’t bad for where it’s at, but the rooms are horrible (leaks, mold, old furniture, rust, etc). I have no idea why this place exists.

The rooms are outdated but the beds are comfortable. The cold air blows through the sliding doors. Wifi in rooms drops off and not reliable. Refrigerator in the room did not work. The staff at the desk and housekeeping were very courteous. However the majority of the «transportation» staff were rude and disrespectful. The lack of a restaurant was confusing for such a large complex, but there are Mediocre restaurants within walking distance.

Great place to host a conference! And for an awesome WV events. Only suggestion is to have coffee for conventions.
