I absolutely love this place! Everything I have tried from here has been delicious. Fun date night area. Service is wonderful! The pricing is a little high, but for the amount of food you get it’s really not that bad. I just keep going back!

Not terribly bad, nit terribly good. You start with a grilled cheese for 3.99. If you want anything else that price increases quickly. I enjoyed the option I picked that had turkey and bacon. I also added a cup of chili. The chili is Cincinnati style. It is very thick and not really a dipping option. I kept thinking that it was to bad they don’t offer hot dogs with that chili topping them. My bowl tasted like the bottom of the pan burnt while cooking. There are a handful of tables and a bunch of high tops and bar style seating. The bar style seating has metal stools that are wide enough to accommodate a child’s seating area, not an adult. They are also so close together you have no choice but to get to know your neighbor, maybe even intimately. Service is what you would expect in this area. Robotic, monotonic, and nothing special, but not rude. The set up is weird with the drink tower behind the cashier. It is extremely loud. Not somewhere to go if you want to have a convo. Might stop for a sammich if in the area, but wouldn’t be my top choice or a place I would go out of my way for.

I got the Italian sandwich and creamy tomato soup. The sandwich was on par but sadly the soup lacked depth of flavor. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it because I devoured it all. The staff was extremely friendly and inviting, I will certainly be back.

My husband and I learned of this place from watching shark tank. It’s only evident that grilled cheese and soup are the perfect combo so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the original Tom & Chee and Flying Pig. Both sandwiches were made a combo with the tomato soup for dipping. This place is seriously unreal and my husband and I will definitely go back! On our way out we couldn’t resist ordering dessert so we got the s’mores donut… It was amazing and nobody should leave without one ;)

The food here was super yummy. The atmosphere was cool, too. I had the Grilled Mac+Cheese and it was incredible(though probably incredibly unhealthy) with a Creamy Tomato Basil dipper. Oh man. Really good. For dessert, my sister and I shared«The King» donut. It was incredibly rich and so good, especially for peanut butter lovers like me. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the price seemed a little high. Overall, a very fun experience. Will return!

Not sure why this place exists. The grilled cheese is basic and flavorless, but very over priced.

Dining at Tom + Chee is incredibly hit or miss. When they’re having a good day, this genius restaurant concept is DELICIOUS. But when the cooks aren’t feeling it, the food is horribly disappointing. I’ve experienced both. They have all sorts of grilled cheese options. You can even get a grilled cheese on a donut(something I have yet to try). You can get soup or chili in different sizes, too. I highly recommend getting a chilli dipping bowl. Whenever the food actually comes out hot and fresh, this is a delightful place.

I had high hopes for this, but I’d say it failed to meet my expectations. I was there as the only customer and the food took a long time to come out. They have an open kitchen and the prep area was a messy disaster. None of the people were moving with any sense of urgency. So the service is definitely something they can work on. In terms of the food, I got the Grilled Cheese Donut — The King which is a grilled donut with mozzarella, banana and peanut butter marscapone. It tasted good, but was very difficult to eat as a sandwich. The marscapone was very runny and basically ran out across the bottom of the take out box. I expected it to be a little thicker to be eaten as a sandwich, but you definitely need a fork and knife.

Too be honest. I wasn’t a fan; the tomato soup seemed watered down and food lacked depth and tasted quite plain. We got our food pretty fast which is a plus– they personally brought out out food which was nice(most chain restaurants like that typically just call your number). Overall, I had higher expectations because of the public exposure it had and the lot of positive reviews I heard from friends and family. Though this could of just been my personal experience– I don’t see myself going back to this particular food chain but I do think it’s good if you’re looking for a fresh take on dining out.

Classic and chunky tomato soups were awful. Had a burnt canned flavor. Flying pig sandwich was fair.

I LOVE Tom+Chee! As a native Cincinnatian, it is great to have a hometown brand to enjoy in my new home. It is also the only place I’ve found in the Kansas City area to offer goetta! If you haven’t tried it yet, you need to head over to Tom+Chee right now! What I love most about Tom+Chee is the eclectic nature of the restaurant. Who would have thought that grilled cheese could be eclectic? Tom+Chee has found a bazillion different ways to master and improve the classic sandwich. By far, the most eclectic… and fantastic… is the grilled cheese donut. Take a donut, add mascarpone and toppings and… voila a grilled cheese donut. I know it sounds bad, but try it before you judge… I guarantee you’ll get it again! I can’t wait for Tom+Chee to spread in Kansas City… In the interim, we’ll be back. Often!

Just recently went in here and tried a couple different things. None of the tomato soup choices are very good(I’d rather just have Campbell’s with a shot of heavy cream). The mac & cheese sandwich was merely ok and kind of dry. The turkey/bacon/pickle seemed like an odd combination, but it was better than the mac & cheese. I guess if you’re into spending $ 12+ per person for a sandwich/soup/small drink and really love gilled cheese and tomato soup; this is your place, but I left very unimpressed for spending $ 24 for 2 sandwiches, little cups of soup, and small drinks.

This was my first visit here and probably my last visit. I walked in and was intrigued with the vegan grilled cheese. I ordered the flying pig with the vegan cheese. I assumed it would be a Gouda vegan cheese because it would normally come with a Gouda cheese. My mistake apparently there is only one type of vegan cheese. And it is really not good! It has the consistency of silly putty and the taste of old cream cheese. The sandwich was Super greasy. So much so it dripped off my sandwich. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the sandwich. For two sandwiches and two drinks it was over $ 20. I was not impressed with this restaurant.

Yum, that was good. We’ve been planning to go here for a few weeks since I heard about it. I ordered the specials, which were Italian Stallion sandwich with Buffalo Chicken soup. Mom ordered half Tom + Chee and half grilled mac & Cheese with Tomato Gazpacho. First, let me just say that I HATEBUFFALOCHICKEN, but I was being brave today and that soup was AWESOMEEEEE! It was even good with a spoonful of the Tomato Gazpacho in it, which was also quite yummy. The sandwiches were good. Mine had a bit too many banana peppers on it for my taste and I’m not a big fan of Vinegar potato chips, but they did work on the sandwich, they just kind of take your breath away if you aren’t used to them. Overall, it was all really yummy and a fun new place to try.

$ 20 for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches, 2 sodas and a condiment size cup of soup. Their profit margin has got to AMAZING! This is supposed to be comfort food, but I’m not comfortable with their price points. The food itself was OK. My grilled cheese had crumpled bacon and crumpled bbq potato chips. It was toasted well, yet was lacking in size and amount of cheese. I could have made the same thing at home and done it bigger, better, and way cheaper. Great concept but executed poorly.

Gourmet grilled cheese, yes please! The catch? The extras will cost you! With it cold and blustery outside a grilled cheese sandwich with soup sounded soooo good! So we jumped in the car and headed to Tom+Chee. I selected the Mushroom and Swiss which was served with grilled onions on rye bread. It was a decent sandwich and for $ 5 not too terribly over priced but add a cup of beer cheese soup($ 3.50) and a $ 2 soda and you have spent over $ 10 on fast food that didn’t even have meat or protein. Also why do you only offer ketchup packets? A ketchup dispenser would be nice. I suggest they either start sending loads of coupons out or create a combo meal that helps pricing otherwise I do not know a whole lot of people that will pay that for an average grilled cheese sandwich.

Good idea, but nothing really special other than it was funded through a TV show and Adam Richman ate an insanely large sandwich from there at some point to boost his self esteem. Interesting combinations of grilled sandwiches, but nothing really you couldn’t make out of home. My main concern was the quality of bread, of which I have no complaints to accolades. Quality of ingredients used was fine, but amount for what you pay a bit off the mark. Plus sandwiches don’t really hold together, which is a key point when making a grilled cheese. Regular tomato soup was good, but again, way over priced.

Checked out Tom+Chee for lunch today and the best way I can review it is to give a list of pros and cons… Pros: Ability to build your own grilled cheese using a variety of ingredients including multiple types of bread(gluten free available and donuts can be used as well!) and cheese. They also have a variety of pre-conceived sandwich selections to choose from plus donut-based desserts. Service is fast and friendly. Interesting concept. I have always thought that tomato soup paired with a grilled cheese sandwich was the ultimate comfort food. Cons: The layout of the restaurant isn’t ideal causing bottlenecks near the register and drinks. For a restaurant that is based on a soup and sammy concept, the soup could be much better. I had the creamy tomato basil and it was a bit on the bland side. They do offer a small«dipping» size which is a good way to go if you’re not famished. They have a fair amount of bar-style seating and they have selected some very uncomfortable metal bar seats in order to torture their paying customers’ backsides. For my sammy, I ordered brie, smoked gouda and pesto on sourdough. It was really good. I would go back again, but I really wish the soup was better as this is part of the concept that really appeals to me.

Cool place! I went for lunch and ordered the shroom & Swiss grilled cheese & creamy tomato basil. They had a wife variety of options. I shared a grilled cheese donut with a friend which was delicious! It was about $ 10 for lunch including a drink which is pretty standard for the area. The only issue was the service. My friends good came out 20 Minutes after mine when I was almost done with no apology even though we ordered at the same time. I hope they get the service issues figured out as I’m looking forward to going back and trying new things.

I ordered the sourdough with ham double decker, and a cup of regular tomato soup. I thought it was really good, they roast their own meats and the ham was outstanding! I cant wait to take my kids, overall I thought it was a fun place to go, they have grilled doughnuts!
