Good Italian food reasonably priced. They always have interesting specials. Best pizza around. We upgrade our salad for $ 1 extra and get a half carafe of red wine to split. One of my all time favorites. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. Even the atmosphere is pleasant.

We just got back from here and this place was really bad. The ambiance is nice but the food is terrible. The pasta tastes and looks like it’s the Gordon Food Service house brand. You expect to see these noodles at a truck stop, not a fine Italian restaurant. You expect an Italian restaurant to either use good imported pasta or make their own. The bread they give you with your soup was cold and tasted stale. The clam chowder had no taste to it. It tasted like they forgot to season the soup. I ordered the clams with linguine and they forgot to add garlic to the dish. An Italian restaurant forgot to add the garlic to the clams with linguine. That should tell you something right there. The server offered to have the kitchen add garlic to my already cooked dish or have them prepare another dish for me. I passed since the pasta tasted so bland to begin with. I honestly don’t think the garlic would have helped much. My wife didn’t like her seafood scampi either. She said the crab in the dish tasted like imitation crab. If you use imitation crab in a dish, you should make it clear on the menu. A fine Italian restaurant shouldn’t be using it anyways. She said it had very little taste to it and was too watery for her tastes. My older son ate all of his food, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, but he remarked about how bland his was also. Everything tasted like management is cutting corners with food in the kitchen.

We came here for a late lunch with the fam(a relative raved about the pizza who lives in the area), and it took us almost 3 hrs to get our food! Granted we had a party of 9, including kids, but they didn’t bother to tell the guests that it would take a while for the food since they were under staffed. The pizza tasted like a frozen totino’s pizza you buy at the grocery store, and my chicken fettuccini alfredo was super garlicky and the chicken was a kind of mushy like it had been boiled for too long. Giving this place 2 stars since the waitress did everything she could to make us happy due to the wait(not her fault). The owner came to talk to us afterwards apologizing(she was also the same person bussing the tables!), but if you are going to run a restaurant short staffed, at least warn your guests ahead of time. We would have gotten our food quicker and been on our merry way elsewhere.

The pizza is really the reason to go here. While the Italian food is fair, it’s not my favorite in the Lansing area.

The ambience is simply delightful and the food is magnificent. However, I’d suggest putting some meat on the bartender boy. His general skinniness was a cause for concern.

Best pizza ever! Have been going here for years and their pizza is better than the top rated pizza in NYC. I always get only pepperoni or sometimes with mushrooms too. I also recommend their antipasto salad which is great.

I went here recently for a family reunion and was underwhelmed. I had the eggplant parm, which was fairly gloppy — you could barely see or taste the eggplant, just the salty standard issue tomato sauce and a lot of cheese. It came with a side of pasta with the same tomato sauce, and a side salad that was just iceberg lettuce, tomato, and onion. To be fair, my kids got spaghetti and meatballs and spaghetti carbonara and the both cleaned their plates before I got to taste, so it can’t have been too bad! But frankly, for the style of food and the price I’d prefer Olive Garden, which has a bit more atmosphere. Not to trash what seems to be a cherished local spot — they must be doing something right!

I’m so conflicted about this place. I will tell anyone that will listen that the Spag’s Special pizza is by far the best pizza I’ve ever had. That being said… I only ever pick up the pizza to go because dining in is miiiiserable. It didn’t used to be as bad as it is now but it’s been on a steady decline for years now. About once a year we go back to try to give it a chance but it’s always the same. No one seems to be organized, the food takes forever, and no one seems to like working there. The last time we went there, we were told by our waitress that the kitchen had ran out of plates and knives, so she could only bring out half of our tables food. Uh… What? When we complained to the manager(Amy I think?) we just got the«sorry/not sorry we’re busy» excuse. If you can, just go to Spag’s Bar and Grille. They obviously have a lot of the same food and the customer service is exponentially better.

Absolutely love the food! I’ve been coming to this restaurant for two decades. Make sure to try the Chicken Marsala, best dish on the menu.

Others seemed to be enjoying their dining. Our experience wasn’t so great. Wines were okay but not special. My «upgraded» salad(to replace iceberg with spinach and greens) only included to small tomato slices, while other salads had additional vegetables like carrots and cucumbers. No silverware. Couldn’t flag an employee to bring some, so had to get up and find our waitress. Then no parmesan cheese on our table. Again, easier to go find it on another table than wait for wait staff. Indicated free WiFi, but my iPhone couldn’t find it. Minor things, yes, but adding up now. I had Chicken Marsala which had good flavor but the chicken was drowning in the super rich sauce. Too much for my taste. Tried scrapping it off but gave up. Chicken was tender and moist beneath the sauce. I’d rather have chicken with a sauce than sauce with some chicken. Served with a simple and bland spaghetti with a few tomato and pepper chips. My wife had veal parmesan which was okay. To be fair, be didn’t complain about anything, so they didn’t have opportunity to fix anything. I think the mediocre wine, no silverware and having to find staff, no parmesan on table and having to go get some, set the tone. We were leaning toward this being a one-time/not-coming-back restaurant before our food arrived; they would have had to wow us with the entrée to make up of the service and poor start. The food did not. Possibly for pizza with a group it is just fine. Seems to be popular, just not our style.

To put it bluntly, the pizza is terrible. We ordered 3; a pepperoni for the kids, a margherita and Spag special for the adults. The margherita was similar to a burnt, frozen Totinos pizza at best. The worst«rendition» of this classic I’ve ever encountered. I only assumed the house SPECIAL would be much better… wrong. Thicker crust, flavorless sauce with flavorless toppings aside from the completly raw, crunchy onions. Bread arrived right before our pizzas and pretty much fortold what to expect from the rest of our meal. Our server was friendly enough and apologetic for her timing being«off» all night. Maybe this pizza is acceptable to those born and raised in Michigan, but if one of the most praised items on the Italian menu is the Nachos… there is an obvious problem.

We love the pizza at Spagnuolo’s. It’s as good a pizza as you’ll find anywhere on the planet. My second job was at a pizza shop so I pretty much know my way around a pizza. And I’ve eaten a pizza or two around the globe, so I’m qualified to say this. We had one of the lighter ‘non gut bomb’ pies the other night. We lay off the heaping piles of cheese for a healthier version. Instead of regular tomatoes, we had them substitute sun dried versions. Perhaps the lack of liquid made the crust event better than it usually is, but this one was absolutely PERFECT in it’s texture. Just outstanding. My only quibble is, they could almost always use a bit more salt in their crust. It’s a minor deal easily fixed with a couple of shakes of cheese. Service is generally quite good. Their homemade italian dressing is always our choice for a salad.

It’s good. That is to say, it’s not the best Italian food ever, but I don’t think that’s what they’re trying for. I think they are trying to make their food the way their customers like it and keep everyone happy. I think they have a good thing going. I had veal parmesan and it was pretty good. But I love the way the place feels and how nice everyone is and it’s just a really good place to eat and spend time.

After looking for a restaurant to take a dinner date to, decided to try Spagnuolo’s out. Setting a reservation over the phone was easy earlier in the day. There wasn’t a need to since it wasn’t overly crowded. The online reservation system did not really work and I was worried at the last minute. My date and I observed the menu and the wait staff was great while bringing drinks in the meantime. The atmosphere is very casual and has an Italian vibe. My date had the Chicken Sandwich and I had the Chicken Marsala. Since he finished his sandwich no problem and I had enjoyed mine to the end, I would say the food was great. Flavorful and quantity was enough for one person. It’s easy to load a lot on a plate when it comes to pasta. Only thing I would’ve changed was the presentation of the Chicken Marsala. The sauce was great, but did not need to be smothered all over the plate — would have gave more attention to the chicken which was cooked beautifully. I wouldn’t have any issue recommending this place and visiting again.

My husband and I have recently started going here after kind of forgetting about it for a few years(it’s not a very convenient location for us). And I am so glad we did! Pizza is amazing, and we’ve also both enjoyed some of the pasta we have tried, such as the linguine with cream sauce and the mosticiolli. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced. Chicken tortellini soup is great, but as someone else noted, the side salad is mostly white iceberg… but that’s the only disappointment we’ve had. Service has also been good. I don’t understand the three star ratings and the negative reviews being so dominant, but if you take time to look at the 19 «not recommended» reviews, you will notice they are overwhelmingly positive.

I kind of feel bad giving this bad review… maybe this was an off night for this restaurant? We’ve eaten here before. .probably once every couple of years for the last 10 or so years… But sadly, on this night(a wedding rehearsal dinner no less…) Spagnuolos really was sub par! First as we were seated we were greeted by a dirty baby diaper left by earlier guests on one of the dining chairs… From the onset the server acted like she hated her job so we were uncomfortable with her. Next.meals came out totally haphazardly with several coming late, coming incorrectly or not coming at all… I was really surprised to see so many problems! Then all all the hassles… almost everyone in the group was pretty disappointed in their meals… describing them as bland, over cooked and generally uninspired. Everyone was ready for a nice meal after the wedding rehearsal going so well … but sadly the night kind of ended with a thud after eating here!

Admittedly — it has been a long time since I have been here(I no longer live in the Lansing area). So there might be something I’m unaware… yet I’m surprised at such harsh reviews. If not simply outliers — something must have drastically changed to elicit such a response. This was one of the best places in town for pizza. The SPAG special was a family favorite and way more than we could eat. Truly appetizing and loaded with toppings. I had also tried some of their specialty pizza’s which were good as well. I give it a 3 star simply because it was quite a while ago and I don’t want to over-review if there has been a decline. But, I would hesitate to write this place completely off or simply follow the more negative outlooks on Unilocal.I think you have to give it a try and go from there. If simply for pizza — I can’t imagine you going wrong. I also recall Spags often being busy — so sometimes a wait was apart of the deal.

This is bland, Midwestern food. Sauces were very watery/runny. The pizza is nothing special… not sure what all the hype is about. The prices are reasonable, but you could probably cook most of this at home… why pay someone else?

Came here for pickup twice The pizza is fantastic here! I love the thin crust Spags Special which has everything on it(mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, and sausage) The cheese sticks are huge and delicious as well!
