I am so pleased with the haircut I got from Chris (younger guy with the corner chair). His skill and attention to detail were very impressive. It’s been way too long since I’ve had a barber who actually could produce what I asked for. Also, the price was very reasonable (i.e., amazing bang for buck).
Highly, highly recommended!

Great old-​style barber shop. My son goes here and he’s always lookin’ good. Not expensive, no appointments necessary, great cuts, friendly people… what more could you want!

Great cut. Loved the straight razor finish. People were super nice. Unfortunately, they are a cash only establishment. The charm of the «cash only» business is outdated. They were nice enough to still give me the haircut and let me run to the bank to get the cash. I still look at it as they just created an extra trip to the bank for me, which cost me time, and time is money. Luckily my bank was right down the street. If not, I would’ve had to go to an ATM and pay a fee. I’ll go back, but remember to bring cash next time.

Good, solid barbershops are hard to find. My hairstyle is fairly simple, but I have found that it can still be messed up, so I am rather particular about my barber. The other reviews encouraged me to give this place a try and I am glad I did.
This place is very much in line with my idea of a classic barbershop. No frills, but you’ll get a great cut, get it quickly, and get on with your day. They also perform a straight razor shave to give your cut a nice, clean edge. A very nice and rare touch.

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I have gotten more than one less than decent haircut. There is one gentleman in the corner who did a good job, but you have a one in four shot of getting called up by him, unless you request him, but then you might have to wait longer. My boyfriend is former military and wanted a high and tight. The other gentleman barber didn’t even know what that meant. I thought this was Barber 101 terminology. Uneven cuts, left lines in the hair. Also, they don’t take debit or credit. It’s 2015 and most people don’t carry cash. You have to make a special trip to the ATM if you want a haircut here. You can get a better cut elsewhere. Sorry guys.

Why waste your time anywhere else? You want a barber shop? This is a barber shop! No fancy stuff you don’t need. They look at you, they look at your hair. They study your face. They give you the right cut. Super friendly, always accommodating, especially good with kids, and you know you’re supporting the locals. Cannot be beaten!

Summary: Great small town barber shop, with great results for men.
Don’t expect a salon. Its great for what it is. Its a good haircut for quite cheap prices. They know your name if your a regular. I go out of my way when traveling back to Michigan to visit for a haircut.
Hard to find properly trained barbers that do such a good job for this price these days.

It’s like traveling back in time when you step into the Okemos Barbershop. The barbers jab and tease at each other and then politely greet every customer by name when they walk in the door. They will take an interest in you or just have a light hearted conversation with you about family, sports, politics, etc. I always feel right at home. They will cut your hair as you request. They will clean you up and finish with warm shaving cream and a straight razor along your neckline — a fading art. I believe they are open Tues-​Sat and will stay open a bit late if you just make it.
