The place is really not inviting the way it is laid out. The food is not that great and it takes twice as long to get your food. The prices are too high for what you get. I don’t like bars and this place is more of a bar than a sandwich shop. I was there once a year ago because I was craving a club sandwich. I came in and ordered take out around six o’clock in the evening. The place was pretty empty on the food side but busy on the next room. I placed an order for my sandwich and waited. I noticed that most of the delivery action was next door. I went up to the counter after a half hour and asked where was my sandwich and it looked like they forgot about it. After 45 minutes, I finally took my $ 11 sandwich home. I was severely disappointed when I opened the dish. It hardly had any meat and just a few chips… Never again!!!

Place is under new management and really seems to have drastically changed for the better! Food is great and staff couldn’t be more friendly!

I sat down as soon as I walked in. I was immediately assisted but, the server seemed like she didn’t want to be there. The entire visit she was like this and never smiled. The menu was limited. I had the roast beef sandwich. I believe the roast beef was overcooked. It lacked flavor. The chips they make there were good but, nothing to get excited about. The server dropped my bill off and walked away even though I was taking my card out of my wallet and said I would take care of it then. She then waited several minutes to return and process my check doing other task in the mean time. I received the impression that she wasn’t in any hurry to come back. When she processed my bill she waited a few minutes to bring it to me to sign. In the mean time she also had a conversation with another co-worker. I doubt I will return. There wasn’t anything to make me want to return. I believe the positive reviews are fake because I couldn’t find any reason why anyone would find the place excellent.

First time in since new ownership. Long wait for take out. Order two subs to go, they we OK. Nothing I would make a special trip for. Menu is really reduced and quite disappointing. The menu appears to cater more to the bar next door. If your stuck for food stop by, otherwise just keep on driving.

I had the philly cheesesteak, which was good but not great. I think it lacked flavor a little. However, the homemade chips were amazing and the service was really great.

I have been eating here for the past year and believe me the food just keeps getting better and better. They are always striving to make and try new items so stop by and see what’s on the menu. Even if you want to keep it simple the wings are the best I’ve had anywhere in or around Orlando. They are plump and juicy. Unlike before now you can replace the fresh chips with fries and a soda and make your sandwich a combo. I can honestly say I eat the wings probably 2 – 3 times a week… grab your friends and come try the place out. Lunch time during the week is a great time to come if you’re short on time. Call ahead or come in and grab a table. Thank you!

Stopped in for Saturday lunch. I recalled the twirling sign guys on the corner boasting best Philly Cheese Steak some time ago. Okay, I was ready to brave a new place, and found myself in the right time & place so, well, so I did! The chalkboard advertised Ruben hamburger with real Angus beef veered me away from my initial cheesesteak motivation. Burger was served hot and with 1.25″ x 3″ wide slices of brisket criss crossed about 2 – 3 layers thick. Good judge of dressing portions on bottom bun, middle and underside of the top bun — good call there dude. Overall the burger was good, but the once was enough. I did see a few specimens of cabbage that may have been the kraut, but this item was allbut AWOL on this serving. Their kettle chips were a perfect crunchiness and proper modest dose of NaCl, but why was my expectation for hot chips? Maybe the«Fresh» promise? Perception was to be Home/restaurant made? My bad? Unilocal, Reckon so. Hey these chips are good even w/o the extra molecular movement. Their Loo gets 5 stars– as if that has anything to do with the food. I’ll be back to try another lunch sometime.

I returned to The Sandwich Shoppe on the advice of another Unilocal reviewer and was pleasantly surprised. There is new management, new staff, and an exciting new menu. I was cheerfully greeted and seated and that was far different than my first experience. The menu is smaller, more modern, and offers more of a gourmet flair. I was thrilled to see exciting new sandwich offers such as mahi, buffalo chicken, rueben burger, bbq burger, and a Johnny dog. This trip I tried the traditional rueben with onion rings and sweet iced tea. The rueben was hot, fresh, and tasty but was lacking a good ratio of kraut to meat. The onion rings are a frozen product that is heavily breaded and when eaten alone the breading over powers the onion. However, they have a house sauce that adds flavor with a kick of heat with this combination the onion rings were delicious. The restaurant is clean and even though there is a full bar, the bar environment is separate so the sandwich shop is very family friendly.

I came here for the third time since the ownership changed. I have gotten the cheesesteak every time I come here, but unfortunately the previous two times it came out wrong. The most recent time I walked in to a sign that said«Please Be Seated». It took a second to be noticed but Eventually the young server spotted me and came over. She was very sweet and apologetic. I can’t blame her because it doesn’t seem there is any kind of bell or alert system on the door. This third time the cheesesteak came out correctly. The bread was huge fluffy and delicious however each half was on a different type of bread which I found strange. They were both white bread, but one was covered in what I think was cornstarch. Also, unlike the previous two times, the sandwich was stuffed with meat and veggies(see my picture). I know that a lack of substance was a common complaint in a few other reviews. I don’t know if they changed something or I got lucky with the cook on duty — but I was very pleased. I also ordered French fries. They were from under a heat lamp, but tasted fine. Nothing to write home about. They accidentally gave me their homemade chips(which I had replaced with the fries). I thought they were under seasoned and just okay. The manager came in from the bar(they are attached) and mentioned they have free pool. I didn’t have time to take them up on the offer but I thought it was worth mentioning. All in all it seems like the new ownership is turning this place around, and with the only other option for cheesesteaks being Philly Connection in Metrowest it looks like I will definitely be back for my Philly fix as they are a definite step above the competition.

This place boasts that it has the best cheesesteak in town. Now, if I owned a cheesesteak joint I would say the same… but I would at least try to live up to the statement! I’ve been here a few times but hadn’t been in a while until last week. You used to order off of a large chalkboard menu behind the counter but now they have waiter service. Not sure why as I think the prior method better suits a place like this. As far as the actual cheesesteak is concerned… it wasn’t dry. That’s about where the good stops. The bread to meat and cheese ratio is about as terrible as it gets, way too much bread. The sub comes with house-made chips that are lackluster. If this truly were«the best cheesesteak in town» then I wouldn’t mind paying their prices but as it stands, they are too high. THESANDWICHSHOPPE, IFYOU’REREADING: Rather than brag about the length of your sandwich that isn’t filled with enough meat and leave me filling ripped off, use smaller bread, use the same amount of meat, and you’ll automatically have a sub that is both more appealing to my eyes and my taste buds. Also, it appears you guys are suffering from a bad case of an identity crisis. If you want to be a great cheesesteak joint I don’t need a server and my cheesesteak doesn’t need a plate… maybe a hard plastic basket with a piece of paper in it.

First off, their seafood salad Made me end up vomiting for a whole day. It was crazy. Never again, this place needs to be shutdown for giving people food poisoning. Also, my friends sandwich was stale and fries soggy. Terrible.

So so experience. Got a Philly which is supposedly their specialty. It was ok but nothing to write home about. It appeared to use real sliced beef as opposed to chopped formed(steak umms) but was kinda chewy and for the most part tasteless. At $ 6.99 for the sandwich and another $ 2.19 for a fountain drink it was way over priced especially for lunch.

Still good! Great gyros and a really good cheesesteak! They are attached to a bar now, and it’s jamming most evenings.

I mistakenly thought a restaurant called the Sandwich Shoppe would specialize in excellent sandwiches. As it turns out, the best thing I ate was the sweet potato fries. The philly cheesesteak, which was raved about on here by others and touted on the menu as the best in town, was inedible. For a cheesesteak, there was hardly any cheese on it, despite having asked for plenty of cheese when ordering. But far worse than that, after getting past the pint of grease that dripped from the bread, my sandwich tasted of burnt bits leftover from the ghost of cheesesteak past. The flattop looked like it hadn’t been cleaned all day. To their credit, when I described the burnt sandwich, they did offer to immediately replace it with anything else off the menu. Naturally, I asked for a sandwich that didn’t involve anything being cooked. They suggested a club, which sounded good to me. They then promptly cleaned the flattop before heating up some precooked bacon on it for me. The club sandwich was marginally better than the cheesesteak, at least edible. But the Boar’s Head meat used here is identical to what I can purchase at Publix — and use to make my own better sandwich at home. Maybe it was a bad day, but I won’t ever be going back.

Yummy little Sandwich Shop in Ocoee! Yes, the Sanwich Shoppe makes a darn good sandwich. We stopped in one afternoon for lunch. I ordered the French Dip(6″ $ 7.99, 12″ $ 10.99). The tender Angus roast beef comes on a super soft, toasted hoagie rolls with a delicious A Jus sauce for dipping. Sandwiches come with a nice crisp pickle and chips. The sandwich was big and filling but was so good I ate the whole thing! My husband had the Cheesesteak(6″ $ 6.49, 12″ $ 14.99). Although it was good but we both agreed it was NOT the«best cheesesteak in town» as the Shoppe claims. Try La Spada’s for that. Actually we both agreed my French Dip was better. Maybe it needed more cheese?(see pictures) Cute, jungle themed eatery with quick, friendly service. Clean restaurant and lots of menu choices. Lobster Rolls, Chicken, salads, hot dogs, gyros, you name it. And they sell beer and wine. Add the flat panel TVs to it and you get a hit. Definitely would go back when we are in the area. Winner!

This is a great little place — and locally, family owned. The owner took my order and was very friendly and helpful. I got the hot roast beef sandwich with chips and a drink. The roast beef was super-delicious — I’ll definitely go back for it. The menu had several other things I’d like to go back and try also. It’s bigger than it looks from the outside. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a great sandwich place.

10 cool points for the highly creative name. You are genuises. So this is a Sandwhich shop if you couldn’t tell, and a darn good one at that. I went in for lunch a few days ago and was greeted by a very freindly guy at the counter. He helped me make a good decision on what to eat and offered a meal combo to go with it. I ordered the philly cheesesteak with peppers, onions, and jalapenos. It was piping hot, fresh and full of flavor. The portion size is perfect. Lots of meat and cheese with just the right amount of peppers and onions. Now the prices are a little high, however you really don’t need more than a regulr size due to the grand amount of meat that comes with the sandwhich. If you go up to the large it will cost around $ 10 bucks just for the sandwhich, but again I’m a hungry dude and I got by just fine with the little one. The shop is very nice and well decorated with lions, gorillas, and other jungle creatures. The people are great and the food is well worth the price. Best sandwhich shop in the area. Huge menue by the way, including beer(domestic and import.)
