It used to be great now it’s pretty ok. The sushi is good but the service makes it unable to enjoy it. Long waits, forgotten orders etc. Bathrooms are pretty disgusting and had no toilet paper. Mentioned it to manager and not sure he even understood me…

So I have been going here for 5 years steadily and loved it. I went tonight with my girl friend and decided to sit at a booth and the service was god awful, waiters and waitresses fighting over tables. We ordered appetizer white rice and it was perfect, But our sushi came and we ordered a crunchy, Cali, paradise, eel, and a few others, none were topped with correct sauce and the crunchy roll did not have one crunch on it. At this point I was like okay I’ll try it, but I bit into it and HARD rice. At this point I raised my hand and asked for management where he told us the rice machine in the store was broken… When we got perfectly fine rice for an appetizer, this place is changing and not for the better.

This place used to be a great sushi place but the last time we went 2 days ago was a huge disappointment. Service was soooooo slow. The waiter serving us seemed busy running around but the restaurant wasnt that busy. Took forever to bring plates, chopsticks and soy sauce plate. We are with our hands for a while. We had all you can eat sushi. The fish was not that great. We ordered miso soup that took an hour to come and it was bland. The worse thing was after waiting 1 hr 40 mins, the lousy waiter told us that half of our order was sold out. I was livid. We asked for the check. $ 70+ bucks for crappy sushi and we aren’t even full. Half the time I was wondering if I would get sick from eating the fish here… I complained to the acting manager and all she could say was sorry and next time we would get a free something for the kids. Errrrr NOTHANKS. It was torturous dining there. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

Long time customer… pains me to say this is my last time here. Quality of food and service has declined to such a level that I can’t find any of that strong loyalty that kept me coming here. Hopefully it can be turned around, but sad to say it’s no longer worth a visit.

A true«Meh, I’ve had better» experience. The food left a lot to be desired. The happy hour is fine to get drinks and maybe some sushi as finger food but don’t expect to get delicious dishes that will make you smile. Maybe this is normal for Oceanside but I’m used to better quality sushi. Presentation, flavor, serving size, everything was lacking. They offered us the AYCE option only to later find out that like 70% of their rolls aren’t actually included. What’s the point? There’s plenty of better restaurants out there. Avoid this place!

The service is good but the sushi is the best. The food always tastes fresh. The price was recently reduced which makes the sushi even better! They have a full bar here but it is hardly ever occupied during the day.

Terrible service. We stood at the door to be seated for 10mins before getting acknowledged. Took even longer to order. The sushi was mediocre and over priced. Won’t be back.

I WILLNEVEREATATTHISSUSHIESTABLISHMENTEVERAGAIN! This used to be a good restaurant but sadly they must have new ownership, because they do not train their staff to provide good customer service. When I arrived with my date there was no hostess to greet us, so we sat ourselves. A waiter came eventually to take our drink order but did not provide us a menu, so we resorted to ordering water. He took a while to bring us our water and my date took the initiative to retrieve menus for us. I ordered a crunchy roll and a tuna roll. The crunchy roll was not bad; although i think their rice is a little dry. The tuna roll was given to me with sesame seeds thrown on top of of it. I expressed my dislike of sesame seeds to the server, and he asked me if I would like them to remake it. I replied, «if you dont mind please ;im sorry for the trouble, but the picture does not have the seeds in it, and that is why I ordered it.“When the new tuna roll was brought to me it was as if the sushi chef wanted to express his deepest unsatisfaction towards my food. I was appalled at the carelesness and presentation of my tuna roll. It was cut into uneven tower like shapes, and it looked like it was slapped together. I never felt more offended during my dining experience! I will post a picture of it, and I only ate one piece because i had lost my appetite. I would not advise you to take a date here because this is Sushi Last Resort!

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. Noticed the menu has changed — maybe there are new owners? The service was horrible and they messed up our order plus a lot of tables around us. Our waitress kept saying«the tickets are getting messed up». My daughter has been waiting over an hour for her roll. No fun.

This place is terrible. I’ve only been here twice, and I was full of regret coming back the second time. My first time I came here was maybe an hour before closing. The staff seemed like they hated their jobs and I didn’t get a good vibe from our waitress. I thought maybe she was just tired since it’s near the end of her shift. The sushi was okay by the way. Just okay. The second time I came wasn’t such a smart decision since I knew exactly what I’d expect; Bad service and crappy food. But my boyfriend couldn’t think of any other place to eat. So we walk in, see the same people working, of course no smiles on their faces… What’s new. They aren’t exactly the type of waiters to check up on you and see if you need anything. It took one waitress a while to even bring us our drinks since she forgot. not like she was doing much anyway. I feel bad for the owner, he actually checked up on us a few times. But still, the waitresses barely did anything. Anyway, my boyfriend and I ordered a few rolls, a bowl of ramen, and fried calamari. Never mind the sushi rolls but I’m telling you people. DONOT order the ramen or the fried calamari. The fried Calamari was very soggy. They were big pieces of tentacles that would slip out of the fried batter and I’ve had many fried calamaris from different places and never have they tasted as sour as these. I love some good authentic ramen but when my bowl arrived to me by the owner himself, and to be honest, it was hard for me not show any disappointment on my face… I wish I took pictures of our food that night, it was just bad.

Terrible place. I’m not sure why this place has positive reviews. It must family members of the staff that’s trying to keep this place alive. The staff fucken sucks and this isn’t a lie. They speak Spanish behind your back let alone spitting in your food if you complain, the owner doesn’t care about his staffs performance because the idiots I complained about are still there. This place doesn’t even deserve a star. Let’s recap. Quality of sushi falls apart. The service sucks, the owner doesn’t care. Now you decide if you want to waste your $

Good sushi, not great, but solid enough. It’s not fancy plating here. Happy hour 50% off specials on the weekends that makes for a good value. Included rolls are not huge or overflowing with toppings and sauces, but they’re good enough. It’s too bad some of their best rolls aren’t included in the happy hour menu. The bonus I like, cocktail specials are included. Atmosphere is nice enough for a date. Service is hit and miss, but not terrible. Overall, its all about their happy hour. Without it, this place would lose out to better sushi options in town. I skip their AYCE, nigiri is back but sits on way too much rice.

So I went in on a Friday evening at 7:00. The restaurant was fairly empty for a Friday. I put my name on the wait list and was told 10 minutes for a table for 4. As we are waiting people keep walking in and are seated immediately with groups of 2,3,4 etc. A lady walks in after we have been waiting 20 minutes and needs a table for 8 and is seated right away. I ask another girl at the hostess desk and am told there is no wait and she could seat us right now. Why the IDIOT that originally took my name down and left me sitting for 25 minutes didn’t seat us, I don’t know. We were sitting at the fountain right in front of the hostess desk so she couldn’t have missed us. I ended up leaving and going somewhere else. After talking to friends of mine and sharing the experience I wound out the ownership has changed. Rest assured I will never go to this restaurant again!

The food is as inauthentic as it can get. The bento boxes tasted like a frozen dinner and the sushi is bland. I will say the hamachi Kama plate was pretty satisfying but the poor service left a bad taste in my mouth. The server messed up on our order 3 times, thats enough times to not receive a tip. I rather go to the chuck e cheese next door than come here again. The food we order which was 2 bento’s and a hamachi Kama plate came out to be an overpriced 45 dollars. That money can be spent better elsewhere.

Two stars only because I did get my Sapporo, but not until 30 mins after I ordered. It’s now been about 40ish minutes and I’m waiting on an order of albacore nigiri while my friend that ordered teriyaki chicken has already been served with hair in her rice and my other friends all you can eat nigiri already came out. Still waiting on a hot sake, Bloody Mary, another food order that was placed all together :(such a bummer.

Service really sucks! Took forever to get a drink then 45 min later came our sushi! Glad we ordered something that didn’t have to be cooked! Very disappointing! And someone needs to train those girls on smiling! They all walk around looking pissed off that your there! Slow service =no tip!

It’s 8pm Friday night. Date night. We just left another sushi place with a 2 hour wait and this place had no wait. Sat down. Instance service. Drinks. Edamame and sushi appetizers. FRESHFISH is DELICIOUS! Friendly and informative staff. Glad I found this place!

Second Visit — another Unilocal review that I am against the negative reviews. Hana Resturant is a superb Japanese American Resturant. If you want traditional Sushi buy a plane ticket and go to Japan. Menu, service, and facility superb. I enjoyed our three rolls that I posted. The Rice which is 90 percent of what sushi consist of was fresh and flavorful. Food wait wasn’t bad for a Friday night. Will be visiting again!

Eh, I guess if you don’t know what real sushi is, then this place is ok The all you can eat was a joke. The menu was overpriced and everything was made with WAYYYY too much rice. They have no idea what they are doing, not a single asian in the kitchen staff. Awful

I will give 4 just because the sushi chef was very friendly and the server too. Well made roll. the waitress was trying really hard to earn her tip but she needs to learn how to bus tables too. It’s been a while I haven’t been at this restaurant. It sucks that the all-you-can-eat dont offer nigiri like they used too. I asked for my check and other server knew I was waiting for it because my baby was getting very impatient but they didn’t care to help your server.

Came here for a friend’s birthday party on a Thursday night around 7. The restaurant looked pretty empty. We had a huge table on the right side of the restaurant next to the alcohol bar and a booth. They were accommodating for such a large group. But besides that, the food was ok. Nothing amazing or mind blowing. Garlic Edamame: taste was a lil off, like it was too sour and garlic-y or something. I can’t put my finger on it. I love garlic, I can eat cloves of cooked garlic, but the taste was off, we didn’t even finish them Fried Calamari: Pretty tasty, but some parts were too big and rubbery Hama Roll, Ichago Roll, and some other roll I can’t remember: pretty basic, nothing exciting. The tuna on top of one of the rolls wasn’t the best quality/tasting. Slightly dry. One up about the place is that they have a full bar! People ordered cran vodkas, whiskey coke, and they’ve got a pretty big drink menu!

This was the first sushi restaurant I used to frequent when I first delved into sushi in the early 2000’s. Sadly, it will be the last time I come here with so many other good sushi bars within a the local Oceanside and Carlsbad area. We had a variety of rolls from their 50% menu, as well as from their regular priced menu since we wanted to try a bit of everything. We ordered the Rainbow, Charger, Umi, Mickey and Homeless rolls, along with two other rolls from the regularly priced menu. The food? The sushi itself was okay, not entirely fresh but not horrible. It was adequate, at best. Their cut fish portions on the rolls were on the smaller side of what I have seen. The Homeless Roll was good, which was the only one that I really enjoyed. The cost? It was at $ 80 with tax and tip included, so it while the cost would normally be okay for the $ 20/person tab(with no drinks), we had, I would have expected the fish to be better. The service? What service? They were so lost when we were there this past Sunday. We had to ask several times for Sriracha, eel sauce and water. We even sat for a while wondering where the waitress went with one of our water refills? My girlfriend had to drink from my cup for at least 10 minutes until another waitress brought us all new drinks. It does have a large bar area along with enough TV’s to catch some sports while chowing down. I won’t be coming back, especially with Hooked on Sushi and other being down the street.
