Loved this place and sang its praises to multiple people. The food is great. Unfortunately the customer service is awful– just rude. We placed a phone order and were told to pick up in 20 minutes– upon arrival they claimed no record of order. The proof is in my phone record. The girl who answered my call, took the order and had me spell my simple name, stood at the counter half aware of the world and claimed no memory of the call. She should be fired.

I splurged. After seeing their food during the block party, but having already eaten, I decided to come back on my next trip down. I got the Lobster Roll. It was worth every cent. My mom and boyfriend got the chicken cutlet, and my mother having Celiac’s was absolutely astonished at how well they did in preparing her sandwich and how wonderful it tasted. The kids sandwiches were pretty good for my niece and nephew and the sauce that came with the fries was to die for. All in all, the place was out of this world. 9th Street location.

My summer guilty pleasure! Was down in Ocean City with family for Memorial Day weekend and we decided to order from the Sandwich Bar. Wow is all I can say. Excellent subs and ridiculous double fried fries with sriracha mayo sauce. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork and my SO got the chicken cutlet sandwich. We split our sandwiches so we could try each others and I was blown away. Excellent bbq sauce in the pulled pork topped with coleslaw. Chicken cutlet sandwich had lettuce tomato red onion and herb mayo. The fries were probably the best I’ve ever had. Don’t walk… run to the Sandwich bar. They run out of items so order for lunch.

After reading reviews on this place I was expecting a wonderful experience. The food was okay– nothing spectacular. Fries were very soggy. And there was about a half an hour wait for our food once we ordered. Probably won’t be going back.

Stupid good. Went to the 9th Street location and got the Roast Pork and Chicken Cutlet. Bread the sandwiches was on was perfect. Roast Pork was so flavorful and chicken was amazing. Not only one of the best at the beach but would be the best anywhere.

Called on Friday around 1:00 pm. Woman with a Curt attitude announced everything they were out of, Lobster blah, Pork blah, french fries blah, blah blah. So I asked if I could get just a Broccoli Rabe and provolone sandwich, she sounded appalled at what I wanted so she asked the Chef/Cook if I could get that. I was able to hear his curt attitude and negative response. Went by today around Noon, sign out front said Closed will re-open Thursday which did not coincide with posted hours. I guess they’ve forgotten about the definition of Hospitality in The Service industry or maybe they are just«So good» at what they do they can treat you with that BS! I think I hear the fat lady singing!

Best hot pork sandwich I’ve ever had. Long Hot Peppers, succulent and flavorful pork(not fatty at all) on a good quality roll with block extra sharp provolone cheese. Best flavors in one sandwich! Highly recommended!!!

This place is a pearl in a sea of sea-side scraps. Let’s face it, Ocean City NJ food is «meh» at best. The Sandwich Bar fare is stuff of higher ground. These burgers and fries are top-notch for anywhere — doughy buns(and Gluten-Free ones too for you Celiacs out there!), crispy CRISPY bacon, thick slabs of burgers and molten cheese from gods. The fries(also GF because they aren’t fried with the dreaded breaded fare) are a meal in themselves and the exact right combo of salt and potato. Go to Sandwich Bar just for the fries if you want. You’d be missing out on PHENOMENAL sandwiches but you’d still be doing yourself a favor. Check out the website but call first. Right now the website says S. Bar is closed due to an ankle injury(it seems like it is a stand run by just one hard-working guy), but thankfully we called and lo and behold, 25 minutes later we were basking in burger goodness. We can’t wait to try their other sandwiches. This guy is some sort of sea-side supper savant. GO.

OMG! I’m somewhat of a sandwich eating expert and, this place is hands down my favorite place in town! Actually, I’m going to extend that to my favorite place, period! I’ve had most of their sandwiches and have yet to be even remotely disappointed. The chicken cutlet sandwich is amazing! The pork sandwiches are insane! I’m a meat eater and was offered the veggie sandwich with a vegan friend of mine and I couldn’t believe how great it was! Apparently the fries are gluten free and vegan too! Let’s talk about those fries for a second or twenty or better yet an eternity! I’m assuming they are what God eats! I’m out of town for a bit and I find myself craving Sandwich Bar every freaking day! I call my order in ahead of time because it can get crowded with all the beach goers and, I completely understand why! Thanks for bringing amazing sandwiches to the shore!

Roast pork sandwich with long hots was the best sandwich I’ve eaten in a long, long time. Came out in less than 10 mins. Juicy, flavorful, amazing.

This place is always delicious! Everything is really great. The pork and cutlet sandwiches are awesome, but I think they have the best burgers in town. My wife loves the lobster roll and fries. You won’t be disappointed! Call ahead to save some time.

Excellent cheese steak(I ordered it with sharp provolone and fried onions). Great roll. Only complaint is there could have been a little more steak in the sandwich. Fries were awesome. It is located behind the ice cream shop/general store on the corner. There are a few stools and a few tables outside. Lobster roll had nice chunk of lobster, but again, could be bigger.

Had 2 cheesesteak and 2 lobster roll today. Both very good. Cheesesteak was very good. Wife enjoyed her lobster roll. Lots of meat. No mayo which she liked but just giving a heads up. Also, cheesesteak no longer on the menu. Not sure why but they changed their menu this year according to the girl taking orders. We went at 11 and nobody waiting but still waited 25 min for our order. If you go, do yourself a favor and call

Stopped to pick-up a sandwich on the return leg of our bike ride to the south end of the island. The menu has a short selection of sandwiches and burgers that will satisfy most appetites. One can order and eat at a table, or take your sandwich to the beach. I ordered the pulled pork that was served on a fresh sub roll with coleslaw — a great choice. My wife ordered the tuna salad sandwich, which was also served on a sub roll with arugula and sharp cheese. The burger menu had a half dozen very interesting choices. Canned soft drinks are also available. It ain’t fancy, but it is worth the stop. This place is not your average sandwich shop!

I’m a out-of-towner visiting the Shore for the first time and was informed that this was one of the best places in town to get lunch. It’s certainly great for lunch and is perfect after going to the beach in the morning as the beach is only a few blocks away. Even though the restaurant is famous for its pork sandwiches, I opted for some seafood since I was a midwesterner close to water and never thought of New Jersey as the center of pork sandwiches. Had the crab cake sandwich and it was really good. Flavorful and tasty. Definitely recommend this place when in Ocean City and perhaps next time I will get the pork sandwich :)

The best roast pork sandwich that I have ever had outside Philly, hands down. This is the king of sandwiches. Start with a hoagie roll and pile on what seems to be a full quarter pound of tender, fall-apart, and juicy roast pork. Coat generously in meat drippings. Pile broccoli rabe on top and stuff thick chunks of extra-sharp Provolone on the sides, and you have Sandwich Bar’s roast pork sandwich. Absolutely worth the $ 9. Do not miss this sandwich when you are in OC. I can’t say anything else until you try it for yourself. It was perfectly located to grab food for lunch and run back to the beach to eat it(remember, it’s cash-only!), but there is some outdoor seating as well(they’ll bring your food over to you if you stay). The french fries were also up to speed– thick, but not steak fries, heavily fried, and seasoned with large flakes of sea salt. I wanted to try the lobster roll, but I didn’t have a chance to get back before I went home. My only regret. :(

Everything about this place is perfect. If you are looking to go out to some fancy restaurant, obviously you wouldn’t want to go here. But if you are looking for good food — and I mean GOOD food, in a casual setting by the beach, this is your dream restaurant. It’s a tiny place with no indoor seating; you can sit at a counter along the side of the restaurant or the picnic tables they have along the sidewalk. I love the small, local atmosphere. The food is just amazing. Everything is pretty much perfect. Their motto is to keep a small menu with high-quality food rather than sacrificing quality to add quantity. Everything is fresh in-house. There is even an herb garden outside. I have had roast pork, pulled pork, burgers, crab cakes, and everything I get is perfect. I have never had a negative experience. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to find some good food in Ocean City.

While packing my car in PA I thought to myself man am I hungry. Should I grab a bite in Delco or grab something upon my arrival in OCNJ. I decided to wait after my drive because I can eat Delco food anytime, lets give the shore a shot. I parked my car at my residence for the week and decided to look on Unilocal for a place to eat. On my search came the Sandwich Bar, it had 15 reviews and 5 stars across the board. Sold I was walking the 4 blocks to take a gander at their menu. I decided to order the 10 hour roast pork sandwich and an order of the twice fried boardwalk fries. I placed my order and was told my order would be ready in 15 minutes, my mouth was salivating waiting to eat. I pulled up a seat at their counter along the window. While waiting I perused the menu and saw 3 other sandwiches I would really like to try. My sandwich and fries came up and I was ready to eat. The pork was tender and juicy and the roll was magnificent. I learned later the roll came from Bennie’s Bread Italian Bakery on 11th and Asbury. The fries were crispy and fresh. While waiting I watched one of the workers cutting the potatoes. They were big enough to share, Needless to say I couldn’t finish them. I am glad I waited to eat at the Sandwich Bar. now I just needed to try these other sandwiches. Day 2 I decided to call in my order from the Beach. I wanted the Italian Sausage with onions and peppers. By the time I had walked to the stand there was a crowd of about 15 people waiting to order. I am glad mine was ready to go as I arrived. I have to say it was the best Italian Sausage sandwich I had ever had. it was clearly my favorite sandwich of the week. I like my Italian Sausage grilled and in no gravy. This place did it perfectly. The onions and peppers were grilled perfectly as well. Day 3 I went with the chicken cutlet with long hots. I can honestly say I have never had a long hot, But i generally like hot things so i figured how bad could it be. The chicken was very thin the long hots were scattered evenly with each cutlet. I took one bite and was in heaven, the peppers did burn my lips and gums but I this combo with the chicken and Bennie’s roll was awesome. The juices from the peppers were a perfect base on the bread. 3 days in and 3 great sandwiches. I waited a couple of days before going back for sandwich number 4 but I wanted try the 10 hour BBQ pork. I almost did not order it until I read on the menu that it came on a smaller roll. This actually sold me because I wasn’t that hungry but I wanted that elusive 4th sandwich. I am glad I ordered this one as well because it was delicious the sauce was very good. I had done it i had tried all the sandwiches that appealed to me, and was very happy with all 4. The wife and my mother in law had the cheese burgers and the breakfast sandwiches and were also very happy with their selections throughout the week. I do not know when the start serving but Lunch usually ends at 2:30PM, and then they reopen at 5 – 8 for Dinner. They are cash only and when they are busy you could wait up until a half hour. My advice is to call it in and pick it up!
