I love this place!!! The beer is great and I love being able to sit right on the boardwalk and look at the ocean while I enjoy it!

A brewery, on the boardwalk, directly in front of the ocean! It’s the trifecta of all things great! Was in OC for the long weekend and made it a point to stop in here for a few beers. Weather was great(high 50’s/low 60’s) and we were able to enjoy a couple of bees outside. Great beer(Ryders on the Storm — Pale Ale and Downtown Sugar Brown — Brown Ale). During the off-season they are only open Saturday and Sunday(Noon — 5 pm). Looking forward to stopping in again next time I’m in town.

I saw such great reviews on this bar/brewery. When my boyfriend and I stepped in I thought«oh what a cool concept!» It’s a mini bar place connected to a restaurant. With what seemed to be great brews. Wrong. The bartender did not acknowledge us. I don’t mind that they were busy. I see that as a great thing! But for him to not flinch when I knew he saw us walking back and fourth confused on the layout from bar to restaurant ratio you’d figure someone would walk by to assist. I mean come on… the place looks like a 300 square foot hut! We left and gladly gave our business to oc brewing company on 56th street. Where service was impeccable and beer was amazing. I definitely know where I will return next time I visit oc and where I won’t return.

I stopped here to grab some hoop tea for a friend while on vaca recently. I grabbed a sample of their DIPA which I was really shocked and blown away by. We decided to stop back to grab another sample on our way back up the boardwalk. Tried the hoop tea too and it was decent. Tastes just like fresh brewed iced tea. It’d be dangerous I can imagine. Seriously try the DIPA without a name if they have it on. I’m not a huge east coast IPA fan but this was really great!

We took the flight. They have 6 tap beers they were good and they come on a skate board. Loved the fact that it was facing the beach. All in all its a good place. And If you check-in on Unilocal u get a ticket so do that.

I love going to local breweries when I’m out of town. The backshore brewery does not disappoint. I didn’t try any of the food so I can only comment on the drinks. They don’t have a huge selection but what they do have will cater to anyone’s preferences. The bartender was very attentive. I had the porchcrawler peach moonshine cocktail and the boardwalk blonde; they were both delicious! I decided to purchase a growler for $ 25(which is average in my experience) since I collect them. The bartender and I got to talking about different breweries and he even knew my local brewery in slippery rock, pa where I go to school. He let me sample every beer and we discussed every one. He was very knowledgable and nonjudgmental towards the beers I didn’t like. If you’re into local breweries and/or craft beers then I would definitely recommend making a stop here!

Awesome spot on the boardwalk. I really enjoyed the beers and the atmosphere. Wish we could get some Peppermint Phatty & Whatchu Saison in our area!

Food was great, beer was amazing but the service wait was terrible. Ate at 7 on a Thursday and waited 45 minutes after eating to even see our waitress again.

Very small bar area with seating outside, right on the boardwalk. Flights given in a skateboard kinda cool. Beer wise unfortunately the only one I found worth taking a second sip of was the Graham Cracker one just because of its uniqueness.

If you’re looking for a place with good food and a good atmosphere on the boardwalk, I recommend you try this place. I was a little skeptical because I am not a big beer drinker, so I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. Fear not! They have a menu of other drinks that are very good!(I got some kind of cherry moonshine concoction and it was delicious!) For those of you that ARE beer drinkers, the people that did order beer in my group seemed to enjoy it. There were some interesting and inventive flavor on the beer list that they appear to change seasonally. Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy their meal as well. I got the shrimp tacos and they were truly fantastic. What’s more, is I made some special requests(like the salsa from the other tacos instead of the one it came with) and they were more than willing to accommodate. We shared the pretzel with cheese sauce as an appetizer as well. I highly recommend that, it was delicious! Just be ready to share, it’s huge(like personal pizza sized… They served it in a pizza box.)

Here, I’ll keep this one basic: 1. Bartender Bryant is the man. Even if he tells you his name is Brian. 2. The beer is great, minus the sherries berries. 3. Check in on Unilocal for some awesome swag! 4. The hats are pretty awesome. 5. Get a flight, it comes on a mini skateboard. 6. Who doesn’t like a brewery on the boardwalk!!! 7. The place it’s connected to sells 25 oz. Natural Light pounders for $ 3.00

The bartender was super, but our non-waitress was not too friendly! That being said — drinks were yummy and crab dip a must. I enjoyed the experience, in spite of the sour faced woman who refused to make eye contact.

We stumbled upon this place while looking for dinner on the boardwalk that was less. boardwalky. The beers(brewed in house!) were also quite a draw for us. It’s a small menu, but a delicious one. We got two of the flatbreads: Sriracha Agave Chicken Pizza(at the recommendation of our waitress) and the Dirty South Chicken Pizza. Both were yummy, crispy, hot, and not super expensive(~$ 10 each)! My boyfriend absolutely loved the texture and taste of the melted blue cheese on the pizza combined with sriracha. A perfect nosh while we sampled the brews which had a instagram-worthy presentation on a skateboard. The price were right, the view and location can’t be beat for people-watching, and the service was quick. I highly recommend checking it out!

I was delighted to find a craft brewery on Ocean City’s boardwalk. I tried their honey wheat and their American brown. Both ales were very sweet; too sweet for my liking. I didn’t try any of the food. In terms of atmosphere, the Backshore was less lively than the surrounding bars and restaurants on the night I was there. Though, I can easily see it being completely filled.

While on the beach, my sister and I were getting hungry for a snack. Backshore Brewing Co was what we needed! We shared a pizza and a beer sampler. The pizza was excellent and served on a wooden platter shaped like a surfboard. The beer sampler came with 4, 4oz beers. In a skateboard! All of the beer was excellent and served in such a cool way. Our waiter was super cool and friendly. He explained all of the beers to us. Prices were very decent. Seating was right on the boardwalk looking at the beach. Free sticker for checking in!

We had a great time here, service was fantastic and the beers and food were awesome. We walked all the way from the point to come here and it was worth the mid-day trek! If you’re into craft brews, they have a great tight selection. The location makes it a perfect place for adults to relax while on the boardwalk. Check it out for sure!

Had a blast! Visited twice during my OC trip and had a great time both times. This is a very cool, chill place right on the boardwalk — a great place for good beer, munchies, and people-watching. This was our first stop after arriving in Ocean City(hey…it was noon somewhere) — it was next to our hotel so, why not? I started with their Pumpkin seasonal(love that they brewed a summer pumpkin seasonal, I love pumpkin beer so I was in heaven) and my husband had the Kolsch. We liked them so much that we ordered another round. We visited again two days later and tried different beers — this time I tried the summer strawberry(wasn’t sweet at all, very light and refreshing) and my husband stuck with the kolsch. Even better was the awesome mix of 80s and 90s music blasting… I didn’t want to leave. No issues with the service on either visit — day 1’s server was more friendly and happy than day 2, but no problems. Definitely a must-stop on the boardwalk for a fun atmosphere and great beer!

Was here last weekend on a bachelor party. Two of my friends stumbled upon this place as we were staying on the corner hotel. Went in after a few hours on the beach, and luckily grabbed seats at the bar, which, one would think is odd since it’s beachfront, but after being on the beach for 4 hours, it was better. Plus, we got to speak to the brewmaster and other guys and girls working. This place is pretty cool, wish I took better pictures. I was a fan of the double-barreled beer, it ages in JD barrels, which, I enjoy, reminds me of Innis & Gun beer, which, if you haven’t had, go out and buy it now. Most of my friends liked the downtown brown, the IPA wasn’t too bitter which was surprising also. The other beers, meh, middle of the road. The beer flights come on a skateboard which was a really cool presentation. Beers in a mason jar, which probably wont last long, as we overheard when we were there, PEOPLESTOPTAKINGTHEM! They are attached to a restaurant, but they have their own little menu, me and a friend split the crab stuffed roma tomatoes, which, we were both pleasantly surprised by, and really refreshing, exactly what we wanted. I’d easily go back here the next time i’m in OC, make sure to stop by.
