9th St Taphouse

It’s a pretty decent hotel bar. We went every day for crushes because of the coupons we got for staying at the hotel. We were cautious because of the bad reviews on the food, so we got grilled cheeses and wings and they were good! It’s pretty hard to mess up grilled cheese, and they have tons of options for cheeses. They’re also known for their wings, and they were so tasty! The waitresses were all generally friendly, and they offered great suggestions on where to go on the beach and other tips. Their happy hour lasts 11 – 5 so if you’re looking for somewhere to stop for a drink or two, it’s definitely a good place!

After reading the reviews, I didn’t expect much. I was pleasantly surprised. Food was good, kids were happy with their BLTs and since we were staying in the attached hotel, I enjoyed a glass of wine. Would go back.

Weak! Only reason we are there was because of the 10 $ vouchers from the Paradise Plaza.
First night, had a fun bar scene. Got lit with the bartender and his local friends. Paradise punch was gross, but for 3 $ you can’t complain. Bartender also bought a round of shots for everyone.
2^nd night, we had take out, again because of the 10 $ voucher. The prices are expensive. We ordered wings and a crab dip pretzel. The wings were very good, but the pretzel was disgusting. The crab tasted nasty, and cheese smelt funky. Probably sitting in the hotel fridge till this day. Woof!

Upon leaving our stay at OC, we decided to use our last 10 $ voucher for breakfast. We ordered 2 1 egg sausage combos. These were labeled as $ 4.50 on their website. I was charged 20 $ for some reason. I looked over the receipt and found out that a 3 $ gratuity was included on top of being charged 8 $ a meal. Weak. Gratuity for a pick up order? I don’t get it. Whatever, dropped the rating down to 1 star.

This rating is thanks in large part to the awkward moment we had on our first night. The hotel we stayed in is connected to this restaurant and as a result you receive free $ 10 vouchers to go here for each day of your stay. On our first night, we figured we would stop in after some bar hopping to get a snack. Around 10:45 pm on Sunday night, we walked in through the side door, and saw a mostly empty restaurant. The few servers inside looked at us and asked how we got in, and then stated that they were closed. The next 2 days we came back for breakfast and then for lunch to use our $ 10 vouchers. Menu had good variety, food was pretty good, and prices were very reasonable even if we hadn’t had $ 10 off.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

Would like to be able to give no stars. Worst place I’ve ever been to. Bar back was THROWING UP behind the bar while the waitress was clearly on drugs or drunk. Will NEVER go back again

It was attached to my hotel and the hotel gave us a 10 dollar voucher each day for it which we used on appetizers thanks to the suggestion of another review about the hotel. We for Thai chili wings and the crab pretzel, both which were yummy. I would have given higher of a rating but they charged us gratuity for carry out???

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. Sitting here for 30 min and still haven’t gotten our drinks while our waitress is taking shots at the bar and serving while beyond drunk

Got there 3 minutes after the breakfast, was told they stopped serving breakfast. That would have been fine if the server was not overly rude.
Ordered drinks and never came back to take our order. The place was not busy and the service was beyond horrible. Will not be back

This restaurant sucks. The bartenders get zero stars for their terrible service and were totally rude. They slammed drinks down on the bar after we waited 26min for them. Our server was very friendly but the food is horrible. The crab bisque was watery and lacked flavor and crab. Our entrees came out approx 3 min after our apps. The crab cake was overpriced and tuna from a can has more flavor than it did. The sunset was really pretty. It’s a shame the food and service was so bad bc it’s a really nice outside restaurant. Overall, don’t go here.

My boyfriend and I went to 9^th St Taphouse yesterday around 11. We saw the signs for happy hours from 11 – 5 and $ 5 food deals. We went in and it was pretty empty, only 2 other tables besides us.
After we sat down the waiter came over and my boyfriend asked if they were still serving breakfast to which the waiter very rudely responded «no, is that a problem?» In a very agitated tone. Like it was a simple question you didn’t need to take an attitude.
So he brought drinks over to us and after that never interacted with us again. We sat there for 20 minutes in disbelief that the waiter, a bartender, and a woman who seemed like she could be an owner all kept looking at us from the bar, but ignored us and continued to show each other things on their phones.
My boyfriend and I got up and left to go elsewhere. They said nothing to us as we left.
TERRIBLE SERVICE and TERRIBLE ATTITUDE. There are a million better places to eat in Ocean City that will at least be cordial with you. Not sure what their problems were but I will be sure to never go there again. Bad atmosphere as well. Nothing special. Not just saying that because I had a bad experience. We went to Flavors of Italy after that and had great service and food. Friendliest people. Left them a good review.
I just now looked at other reviews saying that the people there were rude which to me means they’re always the way they acted with us, which is ridiculous. Places like this won’t stay open.

Came here last Saturday with my girlfriend and another couple. Couldn’t be happier with our experience. The staff was extremely friendly and the drinks were delicious. Can’t go wrong with a nice orange crush. The prices were extremely reasonable especially during happy hour. We even decided to go back for dinner and the food was excellent. Definitely made up for a terrible hotel experience at the Paradise Plaza. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Ocean City to come to this place.

Came here a few times for breakfast while staying at Paradise Plaza. Breakfast was pretty good and service was fine. Pancakes were actually huge and good.

Horrible service!!! Do not go here… I have visited this bar many many times. For the most part recently the bartenders and waitresses are rude! Definitely not quality service compared to other local bars and restaurants.

Worst service. Waited over an hour for our food before we decided to get up and leave. That was the only thing that got our waiters attention.

Went to this restuarant at 5 pm on july 4^th day for a bite to eat. we chose this place because we were staying at the hotel paradise plaza that the restuarant was housed in. we didnt have to wait we just sat ourselves. the server gave us plenty of attention. i was with a group of 5 people plus 3 toddlers and everything worked out well. i ended up ordering the crabby burger which had crab dip as the topping and it was very messy. ended up eating it with a fork halfway through. drank about 3 yuenglings and found out the drinks were $ 3 a piece which was awesome. the restuarant had a majority hispanic crowd because of the soccer game that was on. had a pool table and some arcade machines. i was satisfied

I wish I could give a review. The side doors were locked so we tried to go up in the elevator. Security directed us to #1 elevator and press «R». It was the only button that didn’t work. I just gave up. As I was walking away I saw open windows to the business and a sign that said they were open. There was no noise coming from the business. At least I know why.

The menu is ridiculous, way over priced. Then on top they already get automatically tiped, which means they don’t have to try… we received horrible service and they did not care at all. We ordered our food which was delicious but the service ruined it, I would not recommend this place to anybody.

If it were possible to give this place 0 stars, I would, because this place definitely deserves it. The restaurant/​bar needs new management and employees.
We sat ourselves and asked the bartender if they could switch the TVs to the World Cup quarter finals game. We were told we had to wait because they were «slammed». Ok, there were 9 people sitting at the bar and 2 bartenders. Not sure how that is being slammed. Finally they were able to handle this difficult task and had no idea what channel ESPN was. Unbelievable for a bar to not know their sports channels. We finally settled on a Spanish station since that was all the bartender could find. He even told me that I should leave the waitress a big tip because of the grave efforts he put in… Seriously?!
After about 15 minutes of waiting a waitress came up to our table and asked if we were going to order food because there was an hour wait on food. There were only 4 tables with people– again not slammed. What type of restaurant claims to be slammed when there are 20 people?!
Also, the food was bland and nothing special. Avoid if possible.
Poor management and planning on the restaurant’s part.

Good spot to watch a game on TV while having a drink. Watching the World Cup right now Brazil vs Columbia. 2 – 0 72^nd min. Food is fair bar food. Best stuff we had are the pretzels, burger and crab cake.

Tried it twice, dinner and breakfast. Both times were terrible. We ordered the steamed shrimp appetizer and it ended up coming out with the meal. The chicken was to dry to eat on both the sandwich and the flatbread my daughter had. Breakfast wasn’t any better. My eggs were over cooked, my English muffin and my daughters toast seemed like it never made it close to a toaster. Service was decent. The beer selection is pretty good.

A little disappointed. I went in to grab a quick beer. Asked what was on tap. Waitress said she doesn’t know and I should go up to the bar and read the taps. I couldn’t read the taps from 15 get away highlighted against the bright afternoon sin through the window. She suggested the fin city. I asked what kind of beer it was and she had to squint to read“pale ale” from the tap. Simply unforgivable to not know your beers in a tap house. Sloppy. It was a good beer though.

Decent burgers, fries that were better than expected (not up to Thrasher’s standards, but not bad at all).
Wide selection of beers and ales and from the looks of the bar area, fairly well stocked for other beverages.
Wife and I tried an Orange Crush while there and enjoyed it. Also available are Grapefruit crushes.
Soft drink (Coca Cola) that I ordered was meh, but not offensively off in taste/​flavor.
Reasonably bright and well lit, fair amount of tables available of various heights and configurations. Friendly enough service, though we were visiting in the off-​season and the place wasn’t busy at all.
The Taphouse Pretzel that someone else had ordered (and we watched go by us as our food was delivered) look like it was probably very tasty. I expect that the customers that had ordered that took advantage of the pairing of a pint of Natty Boh when paired with a pretzel order, but I couldn’t say for sure. (That was one of a few Natty Boh specials that were advertised on a banner/​poster on the wall.)
[ Maryland/​DelMarva locals know Natty Boh is a nickname for National Bohemian, a Maryland brewed beer that was headquartered near Baltimore, MD for many years. Outsiders might consider it swill in comparison to their own favorites, and it really doesn’t compare that well to the other various offerings of the Taphouse, but it is available to please locals and offer some cheap specials for visitors here ]
Visiting in-​season would likely find this place rockin’ and crammed with customers which would certainly bring the service levels into question.
The portions that were provided were good-​sized and seemed to match the sizes stated in the menus (½ pound burgers that looked like half-​pound burgers, not thin over-​cooked patties that one might find at fast food chains). The pile of french fries that were on the plate were also plentiful and couldn’t be finished even though I normally don’t leave much food on my plate.
Worth the short walk back off the boardwalk onto 9^th street. Other locations also exist including at 45^th Street Village.

This is a generous rating… probably deserves 3.5 stars. A nice, clean joint with earnest if not accomplished service. Food is fast and good, but get ready for your entrée 30 secs after your appetizer arrives. Don’t spend the $ 2 to add avocado… you get barely a slice. Like the service, there’s an earnest selection of drafts but nothing I found remarkable. Barely above the choices at the Purple Moose or any other OC dive bar. In summary, well-​intentioned, and I would go back, but certainly room for improvement too.

I didn’t eat anything here, only had some drinks so I can’t comment on the food. Although the menu looked pretty good and had some interesting things on it. The beer selection is pretty good. I find that most places in OC don’t have much of a selection besides the «Light Trio» (Miller, coors & bud), all of which taste like dirty water to me. They had way more than most places in OC though. There was live music playing which was nice, the bartenders were really nice and friendly and talked to us for a while. I had my first orange crush and thought it was delicious. I’d go back here to hang out and have some food and drinks.
