I love this place. All the food we had was great, and barring the exceptional amounts of security glass, the interior is pretty cute. I had two flavors of wings, both were delicious. Shared some fried shrimp — also good. The fries were eh, okay, but the fried meat offerings more than make up for it. And I was a vegetarian until recently, so that’s really saying something. Also it’s one of the few cheap, good, food places in my neighborhood, which automatically makes me a fan.

I’m sure this doesn’t happen to everyone who eats here, but jesus christ did this place make me sick. It’s a shame, too. Their onion rings were good.

Awesome hotwings at reasonable prices. Whats not to like? Kind of shitty that they only take cash, but not enough of an inconvenience to knock off a star.

Really great wings. That’s the most important thing… in my life. Seriously though, the wings are great. I don’t care about the cheesesteaks or the fried twinkies, just the wings. However, be prepared for a couple of things. There’s no seating area to speak of. You’ll be ordering through bullet proof glass(I’m not kidding). You could probably buy crack within one block in any direction, but I don’t think there’s anything actually dangerous to worry about. They have strange hours, so call before you go. Last I checked, they’re closed for a few hours between lunch and dinner time and they close at 9 p.m. And as with any takeout, check your order for missing items before you leave.

Hostess might not run out of business if some places serve this kind of junk food here! I had them FRIEDTWINKIES here! You can get it in either Strawberry or Chocolate! Both are good! Here’s a list of what you need to order: FRIEDTWINKIES — I don’t care, being a lil obese is okay right?! Cheese Steaks — 1 of the best in the Bay Area Chicken Wings — Spicy is best! A small note about the neighborhood around here. This is Market & San Pablo we’re talking about. If you own a gun, some kind weapon, or have connections to some back up, you’d best be bringing it here. This is the hood and its straight up ghetto! I saw a few cars get jacked in broad daylight and not a cop in sight(hence why there are no cops in a lawless zone). This is more of a place where you and your«boys» would go for a group hang out, definitely not a place for a date. Girls, if you want to get your sweet tooth on, bring the biggest intimidating dudes here with you(preferably a group of 6 or the Mongol Army).

My new favorite place for wings! And I have tried lots of wing places throughout the country. Tips: — CALLAHEADOFTIME — park in the front — order the combo. it’s a better deal — original hot is super yum! — sweet chili glazed… WHOA… so good! — fried twinkies!

This place is located on Market Street and San Pablo. This place is definitely in the hood. Not too far off the i580, San Pablo exit. I came here after we order our food over the phone. When I walked in the door, I’m asking myself. Why in the word is this place like a bank? There are about 3 inches of bullet proof glass between me and the cashier. This is not where you want to be after the sun sets. We order tangy lemon pepper, Smokey chipotle; sweet chili glazed, and garlic salt & pepper. The only decent flavor they had was tangy lemon pepper. Sweet chili glazed was overly sweet and the salt & pepper had not taste at all. I would go to Wing Stop up the street on San Pablo or Wing town on International and High street if I wanted wings from now on. Overall: 3 out of 10 Would I go again? No Would I recommend it? No Cleanliness: 4 out of 10 Taste: 3 out of 10 Originality: 4 out of 10 Service: N/A

Seriously, people: Stop hatin’ on my ‘hood! Do you not see all the elderly and disabled people walking around? By themselves? There is absolutely no need for backup or weapons. In the daytime… This review is for the seafood and fries, ‘cos I can’t seem to order anything else; its just that good! I have two minor complaints: #1. Why state the number of pieces if you are not going to adhere to them? I didn’t actually count the oysters, but after I ate as many as I could there were about a dozen left. «Fifteen pieces» is a huge understatement. There were at least eight pieces of fish in the six piece. No one person could or should eat all that, plus a mountain of fries! #2. And this is REALLY minor: Spring for higher quality condiments! And a lemon slice or two would be nice. I just use my own, but those suburbanites cringing in their cars…

Without a doubt, best lunch spot in the nearby Emeryville area if you’re looking for a lunch adventure. Adventure you might ask? Adventure as in potentially getting mugged or having your car stolen and other less savory acts the neighboring area’s locals can possibly bestow upon you. The fact Red Buffalo has bulletproof glass in front of their register is a testament to how legit this place must be, or how much they value their lives over yours. All that aside, their chicken wings are good. Provided they don’t give you some shoddy looking pieces of chicken that should of been caught during quality check. But for the most part, the taste is very similar to the dry rub chicken wings you can find at any bar or restaurant on the East coast. Plenty of flavors and spices of all kinds can be added to your chicken wings and freshly prepared. I wouldn’t expect them to have the best buffalo wings or hot sauce wings in the world, but the garlic parmesan & sweet chili sauces are pretty good. There’s not much else to add but they fry their wings to the right consistency and use dry rub instead of the oily stuff you find at chain restaurants like Wingstop. Keeping it simple. Also of note, this place is first & foremost a wings place, although they serve all sorts of random items on their menu. For those«geniuses» complaining about the lack of seating and ambiance, you should already know beforehand you’re not eating on prime real estate, use your brain. Call ahead to order, grab and literally gooo! Further reading:

Okay so I read all the Unilocal reviews and I’m all for giving a place a chance, but come on guys you have got to be kidding me! This is another case of a ghetto ass restaurant serving substandard food in a low income area. and you think this beats Wingstop! THECLAIM: Everything is prepared hot and fresh. The fries were not. I ordered a wing meal of garlic parmesan cheese and sour cream and onion. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This chicken was fried too hard, was hardly seasoned and tasteless. And if you could see these two deformed pieces of chicken included for my meal taking my 10 piece down to an eight piece because I am not eating those. My friend order original hot buffalo wings and barbeque sauce He said they were a’ight hence the two stars. I took my food back to the bullet proof window O_O! and waited for the young Asian woman to return. She was friendly enough when I ordered but… **First off don’t come with an attitude when a customer has a complaint. It won’t help your cause.** THEPROBLEM: They had placed both orders in the same bag and hot sauce and bbq sauce were all over the bag because the wings were not properly housed. DOBETTER! There wasn’t hardly any seasoning on the sour cream and onion wings. Two wings were malformed and should not have been served at all. *See pictures* The fries weren’t fresh and they were the shoestring version Blech!!! THESOLUTION: After I mentioned I had read the reviews on Unilocal and expected better. She offered to change my bag and put the saucy wings in a different container. She asked the cook to cook more fries and advised me of the 3 minute wait. She gave me extra sour cream and onion seasoning too sprinkle on my wings. THEVERDICT: Although she did try to make things better after I mentioned Unilocal it didn“t help the fries still weren’t good. The service was mediocre and the food is not worth the price I won’t go here again. I was put off by the bullet proof glass in the sketchy neighborhood and the mediocre food! BOOOOOOOOOOO!

WOW!!!(to the location and to the food, haha.) This place is so awesome. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to dine behind bullet proof glass ;-) at least theres plenty of street parking and the area is well lite! Anyway all jokes aside, the wings are SO good here! I loved the lemon pepper and original hot. I can’t believe they make all their sauces in-house from scratch! Now that’s talent! Don’t forget to get and order of the fried mushrooms. I am personally not a mushroom fan, but the batter on this is pretty amazing. I didn’t have the po-boy fish sandwich or the cheese steak but I’m told it’s quite good by friends that I went with. The meat on the cheese steak isn’t frozen blocks of pre-sliced meat; it’s sliced in-house. ** BRINGCASH I can’t wait until they open more locations… preferably closer to my house and/or out of the hood haha.

Don’t let the bulletproof windows scare ya; the people inside are for the most part friendly. However, seeing as Red Buffalo is situated in one of the more ghetto areas of Oakland, I would try to avoid this place during the late hours of the night. Whats the tradeoff? The best wings to ever grace the East Bay. I don’t think I’ve ever tried anything else on the menu. Just know that almost all flavors of the wings here are absolute winners. I would recommend the Lemon Pepper, the Cajun, and the Garlic Parmesan. The size, texture, and consistency of Red Buffalo really trumps Wingstop in every way. At the same time, this place has extremely affordable wings as well. If you get the family meals, the come with drinks, veggies, dip, and fries. Their fries, mind you, are extremely tasty as well. Be sure to call in your order, so you can pick it up and head home ASAP. There are not tables to eat at, and you pay the cashier by sliding your money under bulletproof glass, and she slides your food through a bulletproof safe box. I’m glad I found this gem, and I will continue to trek through this hostile territory if it means I get to eat their wings.

I Love Red Buffalo. Even if I have to go pick up wings from the ghetto-est neighborhood I have ever had the opportunity to pick up food from, it is still worth the drive to the most bulletproof restaurant I have ever seen in my life. I have tried almost all of their flavors and I love almost all of their flavors. The GARLICPARMESAN and LEMONPEPPER is a must with every order. If you like spicy I highly recommend their REDBUFFALOORIGINALHOT with your order. If you don’t like spicy but you like the wet rubs, try their SWEETCHILIGLAZE. Although it is categorized as «spicy» it’s very mild. THEYHAVEFATFRIES! Not the skinny little kid fries you get with a Happy Meal but big greasy FATMANFRIES. RECOMMENDATION: — They are CASHONLY — Call in ahead, you want to spend as little time in Red Buffalo as possible(Find a safe place to eat your food once you get it. I suggest driving at least 5 miles away.) — Try to go during the day. Reduce the risk of being shot. FYI Good food, good friends, ENJOY!

These are hands down the BEST wings I have ever had! We had 3 different flavors and all of them were finger-lickin’ good. Also, there was a good amount of meat on the bone. This is THE spot to go to if you have a strong buffalo wing craving(I get them all time). The neighborhood is slightly on the dangerous side, so be a little cautious. I would recommend calling in your order, so you can get in and get out. Definitely worth checking out!

I came back and got the 10 pack of wings(Original & Lemon Pepper) plus an order of onion rings. Both flavors were very tasty. The Original is a medium spicy traditional buffalo wing sauce; don’t worry, they have Hot Hot Habenero for you spice-aholics. The Lemon Pepper is a dry seasoning that I liked better than the Original. .. probably because I’m prissy and didn’t have to wipe my fingers off as much! You can choose between ranch and blue cheese sauce. I got the blue cheese which tasted good, but I would have liked it better with some cheesy chunks in the sauce. I really, really, really liked the onion rings! They were. .. light and airy(if you can believe that about onion rings) and the onion part was cooked so it was sweet and melted in my mouth. A heavenly onion ring experience! I’m moving their rating up to 4 stars based on the wings & rings. Oh, and definitely call in your order, as others have said. It’s like a 15+ minute wait for the fried to order wings and they have only 4 stools which have a high chance of being occupied(both my visits).

So I’m back from my culinary weekend in Napa, where I got to dine at Cyrus, Bouchon, and Ad Hoc. Where to eat now? Red Buffalo, of course! That’s right, no better way to knock you back into regular Bay Area-ness than to go into a wing and cheesesteak joint in the true heart of the crappy side of Oakland. I used to oversee a gas station close to here(off San Pablo near Market) and would be bombarded by homeless vagrants, druggies, and prostitutes the second I opened my car door.(This is where I learned you can get *ahem* intimate services for a little as a quarter. No joke. And before your mind starts going, NOTHING happened!) Needless to say, coming to this part of Oakland brought back fond memories. Red Buffalo has over ten varieties of wing sauces, so I went for the $ 810-piece wing combo with fries and a soda in the Original Hot and Sweet Chili glaze. Folks weren’t kidding about how long it takes to cook… I think I waited about fifteen or twenty minutes… hard to keep track when you’re too busy watching people lean on your car outside. The wings were delicious, and definitely worth making the trip for. The people behind the bulletproof glass case seem friendly. I’ll definitely be back to try out some of their other flavors, and maybe give their cheesesteak a shot.(No, not that kind of shot!)

first off, I know theres alot of Wingstop aka(Weakstop) fans out there, nothing against you but Im definitely NOT one of them. Never was, Never will be, cause its weak ass fuck. On the serious note, I hate Wingstop with a passion. I can write a whole essay on how much I hate it and get graded an(A+) but I wont go that far. Im here to let you know about Red Buffalo, The sickest place on the planet! It sits nicely in the heart of the ghetto, West Oakland California USA. You got your regular hobos, crackheads, dope fiends, hoodlums, the pimps, the hoes,… I suppose. You know, Good food comes with the territory right? Its a lot of folks on Unilocal saying the location is real bad, real gritty, grimey, and ghetto. Dont believe the hype, its not so bad. The bullet-proof glass speaks for itself. haha I dont want to sound like a regular but I tried every single flavor on the menu already. The winning flavors would definitely be: Spicy Creamy Buffalo, Garlic Parm, Zesty Lemon Pep, Spicy Southwest, Cajun, and of course the Original Red Buffalo. The price is REALCHEAP compared to any other in the game. The Wings are much Bigger also. I usually get the meals. It comes with the crinkle cut fries, carrots, celery, dips and a soda. — — — — — — — — Dont worry, these delicious fries dont have Sugar on them like WEAKASSWINGSTOP. They also have the cheesesteaks and other things on the menu which I have yet to try. And also fried twinkies. I definitely got love for the Crinkle Cut Fries but Next time Im visiting, I will suggest to them, they should have tater tots as an option also. That would be like that one movie«Heaven on Earth.» Basically, I think I found my place. Like everyone says, Call in a Phone Order(510) 832‑8828 so you dont have to wait. Damn, I know I shouldnt have hyped this place up. But I wanted to let it be known how good it is. Now its going to be flooded with newbies. I think I might have to delete this review later.
