Our last trip out of Oakland on Southwest was one of my favorite experiences at an airport. Why is that, you ask? Because of the delicious airport food I had for breakfast(well, almost lunch). I saw the Otaez taqueria and decided to board my flight with some Mexican in my belly. An order of veggie tacos($ 8.25) and chips & salsa($ 3.50) was delightfully more food than I was expecting. I filled up a few plastic cups at the salsa bar and my food was ready really shortly after — which was great because it was almost time to board. I couldn’t even finish the large serving before getting on the plane, and was sad to toss a lot of it(not wanting to bring it on board and torture the other passengers with my delicious aromas). Reasonably priced and much better than I expected — I’ll definitely get more tacos here next time we fly through the same terminal.

actually good airport food! Had the famoso burrito with shredded chicken, which was great. Staff was very friendly as well(offered me off menu option unpromted).

With the knowledge that my flight would be boarding soon, I decided to quickly get some food. I was in Terminal 2 and I didn’t have time to mess around by walking to the other terminals, so I mostly had to constrain myself to a Burger King, mediocre Chinese, Firewood, restaurants which I did not have time for and A. G Ferrari’s is the only good food I’ve had in this terminal. When I walked up to Otaez, I ordered a super burrito, chips and a drink. All that was over $ 17. It better be darn good even in unsurprisingly extortionist airports. We aren’t dumb enough to know that it would often cost half as much outside of airports. In five or so minutes, they gave me my carne asada super burrito. I actually really liked it. The ingredients blended well and seemed to be handled with care. It seemed to have that sought-after Mission District quality. Unfortunately, here the value is hideous. Don’t even try to convince me that it cost them a lot to deliver chips and soda that can be universally found in cheap bulk, yet they still charge an arm and a leg. Both were $ 2 each. The super burrito was $ 11, far more than the common cost of less than $ 8, even if super. Otaez is ultimately the lesser of the many evils among food choices in Terminal 2.

Wandered into this place just because it was the only one open at 6am. I was pleasantly surprised! Great breakfast burritos: warm and flaky tortilla, soft scrambled eggs, I had fresh tomato and avocado added. $ 8 wasn’t too bad for an airport price. They also have a salsa bar, which I appreciate because other places roll their eyes when I ask for extra salsa. Cashier was friendly.

Solid place for goid necican. This is the airport iteration of a great Alameda Mexican restaurant. Although the menu is more limited than the full restaurant, the food is fresh, well prepared, fast, and good!

I was pretty hungry before my flight and wanted a filling but not expensive meal. Their carne asada burrito was great as was the salsa bar. This place was the best value of the limited spots I saw inside the airport.

I had the chorizo and egg burrito. It was good overall. I ordered it with egg and cheese instead of rice and beans as it was early morning and it seemed more appealing. The potatoes were a little bland and about half the burrito, so it would have been good to have more chorizo. The green«creamy guacamole» looking sauce has a definite kick to it. Overall I was pretty happy and full during my layover.

I wish they had this good of Mexican food in more places. Their breakfast burritos are fantastic. I always sub black beans. Their salsa bar is delicious. Tasted home made and fresh. A nice change from all that processed corporate chain food. You get a lot of food so you might want to share to cut the added cost of airport prices. I always grab a bite here when at the Oakland airport

Surprisingly good for the airport! The street tacos were greasy but good and loaded with generous portions, the al pastor was better than a lot of real street vendors, and they have a salsa bar!

The best Mexican food I ever found at an airport, which may not be saying much, but it was fresh and good. A lot better than BK or Subway. It took a while to prepare because it’s made to order.

Surprisingly good food, and a great value for airport food! Had the chicken enchiladas and tortilla soup. Both were well seasoned and generously portioned.

Decent for airport food and reasonably priced. I was there super duper early and knew I would need sustenance to get me through my morning. The guy who helped me was very nice, especially for 5 am. I ordered the breakfast burrito with egg, bacon, spinach & cheese. Not the healthiest option but I didn’t feel bad because I walked the airport before my flight. It was also plenty for two meals and I enjoyed it as such.

Parents should teach their children a few things: don’t steal, don’t start fights, and don’t cross picket lines. Otaez’s workers deserve the same union protections as those enjoyed by their counterparts at other Oakland International Airport restaurants and shops. Union-busting is not good, nicht gut, no bueno. Since picket lines at airports are probably a violation of the USAPATRIOT Act, you might not know you’re crossing one when you eat here. Who wants scabs coming in contact with their food anyway?

I realize the importance for breakfast, especially before a long flight and potential flight cocktails. Of my choices that morning, I chose Otaez for a breakfast burrito. The guy working there was really nice for such an early morning. He told me that I could bring food over to Pyramid, which worked out for me — burrito and bloody mary… AWESOME. Not stuck in the food court, yay. I was surprised it was so big, about the size of a super burrito without all the extras, just eggs, potatoes and cheese. I tried several of their salsas, which I liked a lot. I make my own sauce at home and know that the right sauce compliments your food. Honestly I didn’t plan to eat it all. For $ 5.50, I got a pretty good deal for the airport. But I ate the WHOLE entire thing and it filled me up until I got to my destination 6 hours later. I would feel guilty, but that’s the cheapest meal I ever had at an airport. I’ll be back when I fly OAK.

Wow I think I have high blood pressure after eating that salty ass meal. In Yoda-speak I would say, «Salt too much your food, you do.» We had the shredded chicken burrito. It cost $ 7 and will probably cost me a zillion times more than that in health bills from the excessive salting.

Early morning flight to LAS prompted me to eat breakfast inside the OAK airport. I wanted their regular burrito, but they only offered breakfast burrito at 730am. I think they should offer everything in the menu since it’s an airport where everybody’s time zone is different. Anyways, I got the bacon breakfast burrito. It was tons of potatoes with a couple of strips of bacon wrapped in tortilla. Well, there were scrambled eggs, too. It costs too much for tons of potatoes. Thank goodness for salsa, or else it was bland. I didn’t really finish it all when the bacon strips were gone. More meat please! Not everybody’s vegetarian and carboholic.

LOL so apparently I’m a regular here… not bad for 2 airplane lunches! That being said, I always always always have a crazy craving for Mexican food whenever I’m at the Oakland airport. Enter… Otaez! The first time I came here, I tried the Steak(or was it Beef?) Burrito. My order came out surprisingly fast and I even got to finish the meal off with a delicious Mexican(read: glass-bottle) Coke. Mhm, I bet you’re craving Otaez now too! Anyways, the burrito was FREAKING delicious(for airport standards, I mean), so Otaez is definitely my new go-to for Mexican flying food. I WILL warn you guys, however, to watch out for that breakfast burrito! Yes, it has bacon, which is the reason I ordered this burrito, but eeeeeps the eggs are watery! Eck, not too appetizing… Bottom line: Steak burrito YES. Breakfast, maybe not.

Ok first off, lets forget about the higher then normal price. Unless you can find a taco truck in the middle of terminal 1 at the Oakland Airport, there is just nothing that you can do about the prices. And I really dont think they are that bad. Maybe a dollar or two higher than normal places, but once again you are in the airport so either eat your bag of Southwest peanuts and pipe down or pay the price. LOL ok im done with that part of review. The food is pretty damn good. I have eaten here twice and both times I was surprised. The first time I got a burrito for lunch and it was a good size and had fresh ingredients. It was totally comparable to the burritos I get from taquerias. The second time I had a breakfast burrito. I ordered chorizo and the guy asked if I wanted beans and rice or cheese and potatoes, LOL I was thinking why cant I have both! I got my burrito and I was thinking wow its a little small. Boy was I surprised. Not only was it really really good but filled me up completely. They have a nice selections of drinks and a good sized salsa bar. I travel a lot and often leave the Oakland Airport and I am glad that I found this place.

Not a bad airport option if you are in the mood for Mexican food. They have a decent selection and the food comes-out fast. They also do breakfast in the mornings and have a decent salsa bar. I had the Tacos Callejeros for $ 8.16. This is a three taco plate. I got one of each: chicken, carne, and al pastor.

Now that I’m flying for a living I know how to appreciate airport food. Usually airport food is pricey, and not so good. So for me to look forward to having my breakfast quesadilla from here whenever I’m in Oakland International Airport is something. It is very filling and is filled with cheese, onions and ham! When I say it’s filled with cheese I mean it, you know it’s cheesy good when you got that stretch of cheese pulling away from your mouth. It is very filling and I can share it with another person and be satisfied. They have an assorted salsa bar, and I’m not too sure what everything is, but why not try them all. Overall, it’s a great and affordable place to grab food. At about $ 7 going rate for most food items, and a decent portion it’s a good bang for your buck.
