El Ranchito Hot Dog and Churro Stand

Damn, I love bacon dogs. Especially when they’re sauteed with onions and smothered with ketchup and mayonnaise. I’m just disappointed that there are not more bacon dog stands in Oakland. After club hopping in Hollywood last summer, I’ve grown a deep passion for bacon dogs. There was a bacon dog stand on every corner of Sunset and Hollywood blvd. The aroma of the bacon dogs took over the streets of Hollywood on the late night. This is by far the closest taste of bacon dogs to the ones I had in Hollywood. So freaking good, especially after a night of bar/​club hopping. The only problem I have with this place is that I can never seem to catch it when it’s open. Next time I catch her, I gotta get the business number so that I can make sure she’s there before I get all excited. Bacon dogs are the best drunk man and hang over food ever!

Great place for a dog and a churro. That is, when you can find them in business.

It’s okay. Based on the only review… I went and it was, ehh, alright.
I was out $ 5.00 for two small dogs and it wasn’t nearly anything to write about. The bun was too soft to accommodate the toppings, and the dog was fairly devoid of flavor, despite everything on it.
To top it all, it was Saturday afternoon, and the locals had a tankful of whatever it takes to feel good after the work week… and the ‘sketchy factor’ put my antennae up high.
Overall, the vendors are very nice and polite; the dogs were ‘okay’, but not worth the drive and price; and the place could do a MUCH bigger business if they were located at a better spot.

when my friends are visiting oakland, the last stop is always churro factory. i think one can only eat one of these churros every 6 – 8 weeks (perhaps that’s how long it takes to get it all out of your system) — 2 in one month was doin’ a little too much. get it filled with caramel — that is the best.
i don’t know if there is a correlation but it’s certainly no coincidence that half of those friends have ended up in oakland too.

the hot dogs with grilled onion, peppers, and bacon are $ 2.50, the churros are $ 1 — just go, okay?

This churrero is the only churrero I know that gives you the option of not one filling but FOUR: vanilla, chocolate (pudding), strawberry (jam), and cajeta (condensed milk/​caramel). In addition, he also runs a bacon-​wrapped hot dog cart!
One time during my lunch break, my lovely boyfriend decided to bring me a bacon-​wrapped hot dog and three churros (we split everything in half). For the rest of the day, I felt drunk, lethargic, and even a little fuzzy in my insides.
I think I may have narrowly escaped death that day.
However, I do have one qualm: nearly every time I had gone there, he already fried some churros in advance, so they weren’t as hot as they could be. Nonetheless, of the churros I’ve had in these parts, his are the best: not too doughey and just the right amount of crisp.
Another complaint, though through no fault of his own, is the amount of perverted gawks received while ordering.
