Nice lady, nice things for work wardrobe and fair prices but a little disordered on the bookkeeping. I never did get paid on 8 of the 12 the items I consigned in June even though it seemed pretty clear they sold. The manager seemed a bit confused and the bookkeeping didn’t account for 8 of the items(suits & dress shoes) that had been consigned. They just sorta disappeared and even though I had a receipt showing they had been consigned, there was no record – and no payment for me – by the store. I’d say this is a better to place to shop than consign.

This is my favorite consignment store in Oakland(Across the street from Safeway on Grand Avenue). The merchandise is top quality(Dr. J’s is discriminating in their selection) and the clothing items that are selected look like they have never been worn. In some cases items still have tags on them. The displays are tasteful and not over crowded and I found a variety of items in my size(14). The owner is very friendly and helpful.

I actually really loved this place. It’s NOT cluttered, and has higher quality brands! A true consignment shop. There is a variety of sizes, brands, colors, etc. The store is WELL organized, I can appreciate the smaller amount of stock to dig through — makes life easier! The staff was friendly as well. I was impressed and will probably stop by often to try and find that piece I’ve been missing from my wadrobe!

A little off the beaten path on Grand ave– but worth going out of your way for. Lovely shop, well organized, nice vibe, unpretentious, and friendly staff(owners?). This of course is in addition to the well selected, stylish and high quality clothes– you can find some real jems here!

Today I scored a classic Italian Merino wool cardigan, a silk Anne Klein fuchsia blouse, and gorgeous vintage pumps. I spent about $ 90. Last month I purchased a sleeveless button down maxi sweater made by Peruvian Connection for $ 40. A similar item on their website goes for $ 469. Every time I’ve worn it, women have stopped me in my travels to tell me how gorgeous it is. It will have a place in my closet for decades to come. In vintage/consignment shops I’m often disappointed because the sizing is geared toward petite women. At Dr. J’s, there are plenty of items in my size, and it’s not rare for me come across cute pieces that are too large for me(I wear anywhere from a 6 – 10). This includes shoes and I’m a size 9! I recognized many of the brands found in the store. Some off the top of my head include: Via Spiga, St. John’s, Banana Republic, Dana Buchman, Eileen Fisher, Rachel Roy, Cache, Ferragamo. Most of the clothes are classic styles, all are well made, and most are natural fibers. I would describe the overall aesthetic as mature. I’m 33 and would wear about 2⁄3 of the styles(if they were to fit me). Some of the clothes are definitely for older women. I’m so happy to see new businesses on Grand Avenue. Imagine how cool it would be if Grand had the same vibe and the same amount of foot traffic as Lakeshore!
