Love their fried chicken and seafood — lots of variety on combos(prawns and chicken, chicken, fish and prawns etc)… If you call in, don’t expect your order to be ready by the time you get there — they don’t start making your order until you show up to pay for it. Delicious food and definitely a takeout type place — I’ve never seen anyone sitting in there to eat their food.

Hands down one of the best chicken wings in town. I usually place a phone order for pick up and they are so crispy and piping hot when i pick them up. I decided to bring a box of chicken wings for a potluck at work and no lieee it was the first thing gone!

Pleasently surprised. Rolled up wanting to try Louisiana Chicken next door on Xmas eve and it was closed, so I tried #1 Seafood and Chicken Restaurant. It sure isn’t here for the ambiance, but the food is really good. I had fish and shrimp combo and it was under 10 bucks and it fed 3 people. It came with a bunch of fries and wheat bread. This is one hole I want to revisit.

ok ok Oakland has so many hidden gems. this place looks so sketchy with the security glass on the inside the writing on the walls. Dont let that scare you away. the place has some really good chicken and fish. I have been here a few times to grab some chicken to go. The prices are great for what you get. Majority of the menu is under 10 bucks! once you walk in you are greeted with an little lady behind the counter she is always smiling and super willing to help. you can look at the big menu board on the wall or check out the small menu on the counter. once you figure out what you would like to eat they take your money and give you a hand written number. most of the meals take between 10 to 15 minutes if you are in a rush please call ahead. Everything is cooked to order so its piping hot when it comes out. I normaly get the chicken it always super crispy and juicy. you have to option to get sides i tend to get fries or fried rice depending on my mood. so if you are ever in the area and want some juicy fried chicken this place is a must.

If you care about your health or happiness, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this dive. Spoiled mushy lettuce on a chicken burger, warm potato salad, cheap fried fish of questionable quality, and dry pieces of stale bread constituted most of our meal. The only thing remotely edible were the very plain fried rice and fried chicken of the chicken burger. Don’t waste your time or money.

Yo. The place looks sketchy, and they may not speak clear English… but the prices are amazing and the food is bomb. So good I didn’t need to add hot sauce or anything. Seasoned good and they give you good portions for your money. Fresh seafood, and bomb fries!

Stopped by this place today, morsels red snapper fish with chips, French fries. The regular size was plenty of food and, overall, very good. I would come back and try some other dishes. Just a take out, no tables but good for the fish and chips fix.

Visit on a Monday afternoon. Had the #20, 4 catfish strip, 2 prawns, and 2 chicken wings. Catfish was flakey and was a bit over cornmeal(for my taste), but was good. Prawns were excellent tasting(although it could be cleaned a little better) Chicken wings were delicious! Great with the hot sauce Had fries and they were«normal» crinkle fries. Ordering was easy, they check ID on card purchases(A PLUS), and I had it before the time they quoted me(quoted 15 mins, got it in 10 … which leads me to believe that the cook it «fresh»). Will definitely come back!

Best wings and shrimp around… I am a wing freak. This place is not iffy, it is reliable and good. I live in the neighborhood, so I am one of the lucky ones. Cheap!

Had the red snapper and prawns #26. $ 10. Good amount and enjoyed, though would have liked some cocktail sauce. Bread is unnecessary as others have mentioned; adds no value. Lady handing out food nice and seemed like lots of regulars. I’ll be back to try their chicken wings. I do think they should have more chicken varieties given chicken is in their name.

This place gave me the expectation of stopping by a warm soul food place. Once arrived, I was confronted with an Asian lady barely speaking English. All of their food is fried, which is not a big deal but black dots on the fries indicate dirty oil. There’s just no atmosphere, and their tartar sauce was straight up mayo? Once I also opened my to go package there was mushy dollar-bread almost melted due to the spongy substance. The shrimp was ok, but anything else the bread, fries, and catfish were terrible. I just can’t imagine how people like it, but I might be a little bit too European for those standards.

Man, I have lived in this neighborhood for over two years, but I have never tried this place before? Am I crazy? After a workout at planet fitness across the street, I felt my blood sugar going doooown and I knew I needed something yummy. Without phone, just with a couple of bucks in my pocket, I wasn’t able to Unilocal this place, but since there were so many people waiting in line on a weekday at 3pm, I thought this could not be bad! And I was so right! :-) The inside looks more like a bail bond joint. You order at a tiny window and they will give you your food a while later through a barred door. I guess it is best to phone in your order, but I really just waited for a max of 10 minutes, so that’s fine as well. I went for a platter of fried catfish, oysters, shrimps and hush puppies, after I had debated with myself, whether the fried rice would have been a safer option, seeing that the staff was all Asian. But it was a good choice! The hush puppies were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the fish and shrimp was fried to perfection and the oysters were OUTOFTHISWORLD. I liked the tartar sauce as well, just the right tang. The order came with two slices of toast, which I think are not necessary… SUCHGOODFOOD! It was actually so much that it lasted for two meals. All for under $ 20. Next time I will try the fried chicken. Oh and the pork. I need to try the pork!

By far the most glorious fried chicken in the world! I’ve had their fried oysters, shrimps, snapper, crawfish – pretty much almost everything on their menu and they’re pretty awesome… BUTTHECHICKENANDPRAWNS. I’m not feelin the cole-slaw or fries too much. I usually need sides to go with fried chicken but damn, ketchup and this bad boy is all I need. This place is a hole-in-the-wall gem that only does take-out. There’s no seating inside, only counter space and chairs for people to wait until their order is done. My advice is to call in before you pick it up. Super inexpensive(even catering is super cheap 50 wings for ~$ 45) and I hope they never ever close down. I will eat at this place until I’m too old and my arteries are all clogged up.

Call in… Arrive… Pay… Pick up and go just that simple… This is definitely not your«dine in» establishment and I think for sure that’s the intent of the owners… Honestly their fried cat fish fillets oysters and hush puppies are delicious… Seasoned fries and cooked to perfection– the only reason I didn’t opt for the 5 star rating is location and take out only — enjoy!!!

Just came in here and ordered a fish combo and it tastes great. One thing I like about this place is that you can choose fried rice or French fries as you side dish. Works out great for me because I love fried rice. I paid only $ 5.00 for three whole pieces of fish(not small), 2 slices of bread, a carton of fried rice. They didn’t forget the condiments either lemon, tartar sauce, hot sauce, and soy sauce. Will definitely try again.

Been coming here for years. While the rest of Oakland slowly declines into a soul-less mish mash of hipster transplants willing to pay double the price for interpretations of «authentic street food,» places like this make good food consistently for a decent price. Please don’t come over and ruin this place by telling all your awful musctachioed, bike riding lame friends. That would really boil my potato.

#1 chicken and seafood is one of my favorite hole-in-the-walls. They have plenty of seafood and chicken combos ranging from snacks, personal, to family meals. You can get you fix of chicken, fish, and/or seafood in one order. The portions are generous — when they say wing, they mean the whole wing. Combos come with your choice of fries or fried rice. They only drawback is the amount of time it takes to cook, but you can always call in your order first.

Time: 2:53pm/76°F warm sunny Purpose: In area for fist of flour grand opening told to check back when they have some time so park car and walk around. Ambiance: Place looks and feel like another business was here before just don’t know what. Two entrances to enter leads to same place. First thing I notice was a coffee roaster may functional maybe not, didn’t see or smell any coffee aroma. Empty display case got me worry as to what concept they have going here. Dining area can seat about 15 comfortably but less is best too stuffy. 3 menu boards of bright yellow with red words discription and prices. Smell of fried items got me nauseated as I had to ask the owner if we can talk outside. He understood and off we went, thank you! Staff: One hispanic lady hair tied up in bun style kind of conceded a little but I know how it feels to work at any food places. Cleanliness: Grease stains on table tops chairs have palm smear marks on some but not all. When she have free time maybe she’ll wipe down and make it a little presentable. Eats/Drinks: Got me a pint size coleslaw and breading to go on the house. Products: Jamaica’s famous paddies, gumbo, fish, shrimp, ginger beer, chicken combos, sides, dinner packs, chicken only. Punch Line: For fried food lovers, quality ingredients, owner is really knows his creole goods. Full line of Jamaica drinks soda only no alcohol beverages. Final Thoughts: At first when I walk in I was like oh man here we go a place with coffee roaster with no bag coffee for sale. They’ve have a great espresso machine and drip maker along with coffee pots warming but why a in-house roaster got me baffle. After a brief talk I understand what happen here but I can’t disclose details, sorry.
