Shively’s Bar & Grill

Thanks Gary! Great time here playing pool, listening to some good music and having some taste food. I definitely recommend this bar to anyone just passing through.

I went there today for the first time as it was highly recommended by a good friend. I had the cheeseburger with everything on it. I do have to say that it was an excellent burger! I will be back and bringing my Harley m/​c group!

Stopped off here after reading the CATFISH FRIDAYS banner for the last few summers and finally made it to see what shivelys is all about. 37 Beers on tap, fried food, cowboys, and horse shoes, all in a small hangar looking sheet metal building. I am super impressed, dig the fried food, dig the epic beer selection, dig the location and more than anything, this place feels like central california. Super legit.

The «bartendress» you all are referring to is a sweetheart. The bartender gets the five stars!

We go there at least once a week for lunch, great burgers and Ice cold beer over 30 beers on tap. The bartender there is super hot. pool table juke box outdoor patio.

It is a tradition for me (and whomever I’m with) to stop at Shively’s on the way to Pinecrest, which I do once or twice a year. I stopped by for lunch last Friday.
A bit of background on Shively’s. It is a rustic place from the outside but clean on the inside. There are an impressive 40 beers on tap. Grub is great but is is almost exclusively fried or grilled. The locals are generally rural blue collar but they don’t seem to mind urban folks like me stopping by on my way to the high Sierras.
My favorite menu item is the Ortega Bacon Cheeseburger with onion rings. Their fries are excellent as well.
When at Shively’s on Friday my wife and I encountered some major attitude from the bartendress. She was putting on a major flirt with the guys at the end of the bar but took her time approach us to ask us what we wanted to order. Fortunately, this has not been my experience here in the past so I won’t let one employee on a Friday afternoon diminish my opinion of the place.
A couple of things to be aware of. The kitchen closes at 2:00 on Friday afternoons so they can prepare for their Friday evening catfish fry. They also only serve beer and wine.
Check Shively’s out. It’s a classic joint.

I have stopped here many times for a cold one. Make no mistakes about it, this is a hole in the wall. But they have a large variety of beer, pool table in the back, and a decent burger. This is one of many «on the way» Harley stops I like to make. This is a «no frills» bar, with a gravel parking lot just outside of town. So you wine and cheese people just keep on going… Shively’s aint the prettiest place in Oakdale!

OK so I have been back here like 3 times after the 5 star review and every time since they have been out of things. No jalepeno poppers, no Blue Moon, no Coors Light, no cider, OMG WHAT DO YOU HAVE?
We went one time and there was no FOOD AT ALL! The bartender said, «I can make you a grilled cheese sandwich, cause the cook is not here.» I am never going back it was just disappointment after disappointment.
