Seated promptly and the bus boy served a small delicious tasting plate of carrot salad and their signature bread. The bread was hard as rock and almost felt like you could break your teeth. We waited 30 minutes for anyone to come over to take our drink and food order. No one showed up. Went inside and told the host that we were leaving and to see if there place was swamped. It was dead. And we left.

I have come to the conclusion that Mon Ami Gabi is the Bistro version of Maggiano’s. Maggiano’s does what they do very well and it is certainly a step above Olive Garden. However, I still feel like I am eating chain food in a chain restaurant. For my main I had the steak frites. The steak was a stellar representation of the genre. It was supremely tender and perfectly seasoned. I got the Au Poivre sauce on the side because I like to get some bites experiencing the full flavor without sauce hindrance. I also got bordelaise sauce on the side and was not charged for it. The fries were fine, but I have had better at other bistros. They were not highly seasoned or very thin and crispy. The French Onion soup was not to my liking. It is already sweet due to the caramelized onions; however, brown sugar is also added making it too sweet. The Cesar salad was also a stellar representation of the genre. The dressing was creamy and not fishy. The chick pea croutons were not crunchy, but they were delicious, low carb, and unique. Special plates are featured each day of the week. For example they have lamb on Wednesday and Beef Wellington on Saturday. Please be aware though sometimes late in the dinner hour they run out of these items. Even though Mon Ami Gabi is not the best bistro I have ever been to, it is a nice option in the burbs.

I ate here a couple weeks ago with a larger group and enjoyed it. We did have reservations since it was a larger party and were able to get seated with no issue with the reservation. Part of my party had a gluten allergy and they were able to cater to without question to that gluten free need.

I stopped in to mon ami gabi the other night with the intent of having a nice dinner. Not as expensive and wildfire but still nice. By was the I wrong. The price was 100 $ for one person. The plate of the day for Friday was a nice bison steak first of all it wasn’t even a steak it was cubes into little quarter chunks and the quartered chunks were rubbery with fat. If it weren’t for the blue cheese dressing which came as a sauce I think the steak would have been mediocre. Worst piece of meat I’ve ever had for 40 $. Plate of the day. 40 $. Rip off. If u can’t cook bison then don’t try and take it off the menu. Service was polite and water and drinks were filled promptly. My bloody marry wasn’t very strong so didn’t bother to look at the price of that. Needless to say I won’t be back. I’m kind of done with lettuce. If you want a steak go to gibsons. Not even wildfire. I’ve been to Mon Ami Gabi many times over the decade and it still is great. We had a delightful time here for Mother’s Day. The manager who seated us made us feel special and we were seated right away with out reservation. The poisson dishes are well prepared. The salads are fresh. Crème brûlée is on point. Felt like I was in Paris, minus the poorly dressed clientele :)

My boyfriend’s mom always raves about this place. It’s definitely her favorite spot. However when we went it was an unfortunate experience she said. It took 40 minutes to get our food and during that time our server was barely present. We also had to ask for bread, which is a complimentary appetizer and water. My boyfriend asked for sweet tea which was served as a glass of tea and a packet of stevia. so not sweet tea. Then when we finally got our food, everyone’s plate looked and tasted very flavorless and bland. It was definitely not worth the wait. My salad was not bad, but it was a simple Cobb salad which is pretty hard to mess up. According to his mom, our visit was the worst she’s had in the many times she’s come. I’d give Mon ami another try but of all the LEYE restaurants I’ve tried. this maybe my least favorite.

Great ambiance, service, and food! I was going out to dinner with a friend that eats strictly halal meat, so I figured this is a great place for to catch up and have a great meal that everyone can enjoy. We both ordered the burgers off of the halal menu, and it was amazing. The green sauce was decadent and flavorful. The burger was cooked perfectly. The bread and carrot slaw that they give at the beginning of the meal is so good. The carrot slaw is flavorful and the bread is so good and crusty and fluffy. I had to take off one star bc the menu is limited. Not many options if you’re not in the mood for red meat. The service was attentive and not overbearing. The waitress was very accommodating. I really love the ambiance as well. Although the restaurant is bustling, its inviting and cozy. Dimly lit and it’s great for a date night or catching up with a gal pal. I’ve been to the Vegas location several times and loved it! Glad to see that this location is nearby and is just as good.

We went to Mon Ami Gabi tonight after shopping at the Oak Brook Center. The experience was spectacular. Waiter James gave us wonderful service. The steak was so tender and juicy. The mussels were in great portion and tasted creamy and naturally sweet. One tip for everyone is that the main course are mostly quite big, so be ready to share. Everything was great, also thanks zag aim James. We will be back soon.

This place is amazeballs. Chill & casual enough to meet up with an old friend for brunch, but the interior is luxe and gorgeous enough for a date night. My friend and I were seated in a comfy corner booth and promptly brought water, jam, butter, and a loaf of crusty french bread. The menu wasn’t overwhelming, but had tons of delicious looking choices. I grabbed a peach bellini as I decided. I had the ham and cheese crêpe. I think I cried a bit it was so good. My friend had blueberry waffles? Pancakes? Idk, when the lovely waitress brought out our food we stopped mid convo, tasted our plates, and immediately the food took precedence over anything we could’ve talked about. I think the waitress was psychic, she came over just enough and always before we needed her. All in all, a fabulous place with delicious food(and pretty good portion sizes) and lovely service. I’d love to come back for dinner.(Check in with Unilocal while you’re there, sometimes there’s a special like a free eggs benedict!)

My Aunt had a private party at Mon Ami Gabi for my Uncle’s 70th birthday — we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Service was excellent, the room was set up on time, with views to the outside and a soft ambiance. More importantly, none of the food was questioned. Started off with their Caesar Salad and worked our way to the Salmon and Grilled Chicken. It was served family style, which worked out great. Portions were cut evenly and food came out hot, seasoned well and was not underdone and/or overcooked. All the food, by memory, tasted very flavorful and was enjoyed by the whole party. The wait staff didn’t rush us, or intervened at inappropriate times,(like during the speeches). My Uncle was in tears by the end of the meal — and happy ones, for that matter. Highly recommended for private events.

Halal steak… That’s all i needed to hear, and I was there. we reserved a table for 3 at the oak brook location. The biggest hassle was to find parking and get into the restaurant. overall the ambiance was great, the place is a little small, it was busy when we went to, so it did feel like the tables to to close to each other. Anyways, we asked for the Halal Menu(yes they do have a separate halal menu), the menu has only 4 items on it, but hey something better then nothing right. So i ordered the New York Strip Steak, it comes with frites(which are thin crispy fries). the steak was good, tender and with the right amount of flavor. overall a good experience

I visited the Las Vegas location years ago for breakfast… I knew of this location in Oak Brook, yet I’ve never been there. A friend of mine raves about the location in the city, so I got my friends to come out and join me at the Oak Brook location instead of me driving out to the city. I made a reservation online for 4pm on a Sunday, which seemed to be the perfect time… about an hour or so later the place got pretty busy, but not packed to the max with anyone waiting for a table. The biggest problem in this area is the parking, but there is a lot way in the back, and valet for like $ 4. It seems to be busy in this spot no matter what the day or time. The service was great… and overall I can say I spent $ 50 on a GOOD dinner which included french bread & butter(I was off my low carb diet for the evening), steak frites which came with a side of fries(all three of us ordered some version of this), and my friends and I shared the carrots and whipped cauliflower — both were probably the best vegetable sides I’ve ever had, we split the bananas foster crepes for dessert, and to top that off, we all had a glass of red wine, which was good and reasonably priced! I can spend a good $ 30 on dinner at any regular ol’ place but this place was fantastic… such good service and food! I hear the brunch is good, so I’ll have to come back and try that next… a Unilocal check in offer comes with it!

I’ve been here a few times before ordering different things and it’s a good option for a meal anytime… This last time I tried the Seafood Platter. It is actually really good IMO. 4 shrimp, 4 oysters, a whole lobster cut and placed back into the shell for easy eating, plus some salmon tartare. I would easily order this again as it’s better here than Reel Club but does cost more. This along with the warm french loaf makes a nice meal…

I have been going to this Mon Ami Gabi for years. I knew it has been over 10 years since I applied for a waitressing job there when I was in between jobs at least 10⁄11 years ago. They wanted to hire me as a hostess as they thought I had a front of the house personality, but it wouldn’t work with my unemployment as hostess makes more money per hour. I wasn’t about to give up unemployment for $ 12 an hour. However, it was a really great interviewing experience with them and they were really nice people. I came here quite often for brunch. I seriously love their warm mini baquette in a paper sleeve, served with butter and raspberry jam. That’s probably one of my most fave foods! My other fave was their skate wing dish. Delicious! I also had their raisin and scallop dish with cauliflower purée that I used to enjoy. However, it had changed recently. My last visit here was for my friend Evi’s surprise birthday party. A couple of friends and I were planning it together. The planning part was not bad and they were attentive. The minimum for food and beverage for a private room was $ 1500 which was pretty steep. We had a hell of a time trying to make it work for the party. The food group menu was pricy catering to that minimum. We had to upgrade to include appetizers that added about $ 10 per person to get closer to the minimum. Unless you are sure you are having a sizable party, don’t commit to the contract. The room was nice and it might have been just a tad big for our 25 adults and 5 kids party. However, to make it affordable, you almost need 40 people in there and it wasn’t big enough for that many people. It was a little weird to me. We only was assigned one server too. He had some runners helping him but he was the guy for the room. The food came slower because of that and it also ended up like a food auction with runner calling out the food and who had ordered what. It was definitely shown during cake and dessert course as many people didn’t get coffee till late. That was a bit disappointing for the price we paid and not to mention the tip on top of the $ 1500. Other than that, I am still a fan and would go for occasional visits. Plus, my friends’ kids love their roasted chicken. The foods are pretty solid for a casual French Bistro. From the mussels, steak frites, and my faves that I mentioned above, all are decent and delicious.

I have always had an outstanding experience at Mon Ami Gabi. I’ve had brunch and dinner but not lunch. I would recommend making a reservation if you can. You can count on all tables being filled. The warm Brie cheese is a great starter.(Don’t forget to check the Unilocal offers. This restaurant offers a free starter) The steak frites is a great option for brunch or dinner. You will want to ask for the daily specials. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict is perfect for brunch. We had great service from the moment we entered the door. There was a friendly face at the host stand and we were seated right away. The servers never seem to rush your meal. They are available if you need them but they don’t stand over your table. The servers will always be happy to explain menu items or answer any questions. Always a great meal!!! And the pajama bunch is a must at New Years. I already have my reservation for this year!

Cute place! Great service! We had Crystal as our server and she was informative, polite and not over bearing. Food was good. I had the kale and bacon salad with a pooched egg. It was good but I felt like it needed something, maybe vinegar or a splash of lemon over it. I had the salmon as my entrée and that was absolutely delicious! The mustard sauce was perfect over the crusted salmon! The three mini desserts were he perfect size! My husband had the escargot with pesto sauce which was surprisingly good! He had the steak for his entrée and it was just eh. Thin piece of steak over a bed or glorified fries. The presentation was not appealing. Overall the experience was good. I felt like it had a «chain restaurant» feeling to it. Glad we came out and tried it though!

Amour! J’adore la cuisine française a la Mon Ami Gabi! I hadn’t been to Mon Ami Gabi in quite sometime, but it was just as memorable and fantastique as I remembered. Between the charming French bistro atmosphere and classic French fare, Mon Ami Gabi made for a romantic, trés-chic, and delicious evening out. Our party of four ordered quite a bit off the menu. All was delicious with the exception of the butternut squash purée… it was a tad bit too sweet for my taste buds. The Onion Soup au Gratin had the perfect mix of sweet and salty, baked with gooey, melted gruyère cheese on top. We also ordered the baked cheese and the warm brie cheese with honey, garlic, and hazelnuts. Hands down, the melted brie was my favorite. I was inclined to order 2 more orders and have a meal of brie and toasty croutons. For entrees, each of us had something different. As a filet mignon kinda girl, I opted for something different and went for the steak bordelaise with caramelized onions and red wine. It was nothing short of magnifique! The sauce was delectable, and the steak was extremely tender and cooked perfectly. My brother ordered the filet mignon with a butter and wine reduction, and was kind enough to give me a bite. Although my dish was incredible, let’s just say I had food envy. The roast chicken with frites, bacon, mushrooms, pearl onion and prime rib were also ordered — both incredible. Each of us sitting with a plate of meat and frites, we also ordered the whipped cauliflower, garlic spinach, butternut squash purée, and macaroni gratin. As previously mentioned, the butternut squash purée was way too sweet. The whipped cauliflower was the creamy and flavorful — probably the best I’ve had. The garlic spinach was cooked perfectly and had just the right hint of garlic. The macaroni gratin was somewhat disappointing… I suppose I expected something a little more mac n’cheese-esque. Instead I felt was eating shells in plain old cream sauce. It wasn’t bad — it just wasn’t that great. For dessert, we split the sorbet du jour — which was strawberry. YUM. Filled with fresh strawberry chunks, it was flavorful and cleansed our palates perfectly. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food. Is it a cheap night out? Not really, but it’s worth every penny. The service was good — not spectacular, which I had anticipated it would be. Given that it was Saturday night and the wait was out the door, I felt we were a little rushed to finish up and leave. Boo — I didn’t even get to indulge in the wine cart, as I prefer my drinks after eating. In the end, I left full and happy belly, and a small lunch for the next day. Although I hadn’t just been to Paris, the atmosphere and cuisine gave me the impression I had just been whisked off to France for a few hours. J’adore Moni Ami Gabi.
