my review for this place is long overdue. –first of all, yes the location on 22nd street is closed. i emailed them because i could find nothing on the news of their closing or moving. apparently, they are in the process of moving to open very soon. the least they could’ve done was put up a sign… or have it on their website… or SOMETHING. jeez. –anyway, i’m kind of torn about this place. i love it and hate it. –LOVE: the pancakes. they are sooooooooooooo good. maybe the best i’ve had. they are also quite large. –the portions. they are huge(esp if you get a side of pancakes). i would really suggest sharing a dish! yes, the dishes are expensive, but if you split it… cheap. also, get the groupon! there has been a groupon now for this place since forever! –the option of fruit. few places, when they do offer a fruit option, give you decent fruit. this one is not so bad. makes me feel better and less fat after all of that food haha –DISLIKE: the service. the last two times i’ve been here, the waiters have been new so naturally, the service is a little off. i have overlooked it since i can’t really think straight when i’m drooling over their pancakes… –the wait. BUT. just go on a non-weekend(i guess the real word is weekday) and you’ll be fine. absolutely no wait. hopefully, the food doesn’t change when they relocate… i could go for some more pancakes right about now.

I owe this place an update, big time. Came here for my Birthday breakfast and happy I did! the boyfriend and I enjoyed every minute. The inside of this place is just awesome! The décor is just… cute… I love it. Fun and original. It was jam packed, but we were seated in 10 minutes. Our waiter, no slacking there. Very attentive and helpful. I love the fact that they give you a full pitcher of water with cucumber, nice and refreshing. Cucumber water and I, we’re friends. On to the food… one plate can feed two with a big appetite, so if your not really really hungry, you can easily split a dish & be full. But today, was my damn day. I WANTMYOWN: D Spluuuuuurge baby!!! I had the Portabello eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce was TODIEFOR. Hollandaise is hit or miss sometimes… I’m always scared to order it… this was definitely a hit. I like the twist on traditional eggs benedict, I’m a shroom girl. If it were an option to get mushrooms in a drink, I’d be the one ordering it. Hash browns, nice and crispy. The boyfriend was pleased, he had scrambled eggs with turkey sausage, hash browns, and French Toast. French toast was served with crisp apples on top. Seriously, they didn’t even need any syrup. They were delicious with out it. I really liked the presentation of everything, expecially how they served the scrambled eggs in a mini frying pan, and the sausages in a mini pan too. Oh yes, they have Cholula hot sauce. My man’s favorite. I’m not stuck always going to I-Hop all the time ANYMORE. I hit the jackpot here! Finally another breakfast spot with that curse-ed hard to find hot sauce!

Trying. Too. Hard. Aka… if Michael Bay were trying to do breakfast. Eating here is like Transformers 3. The execution is heavy-handed with little subtlety or regard for ingredients which seemingly are just tossed onto the plate. Much like any Michael Bay film, it has potential to be great, until you realize that your main attraction has a bad temper(like whoever the pissed off hostess owner was) and gets into bar brawls… And it further masks its bad acting and even worse writing by over-the-top CG effects. Sure the décor is designy and slick… and the menu sounds great, but you’d be better off driving to Greek Town and going to Meli’s Café for similar but infinitely better fare. Eggstasy is trying too hard to be amazing. If they’d just simplify and let the food actually do what it needs to, they’d be so much better off.

I really wanted to like Eggstasy. I had seen the menu on-line and was excited to try some of their inventive items. The space is warm, décor is cute. But service was over-bearing. The place was nowhere near full(as it was late breakfast time when my friend and I checked the place out) but we really felt rushed. She barely gave us time to sit down before she asked us what we wanted to order. And she didn’t give us much time to check out the menu before she came back asking what we wanted to order. My friend did not have the luxury of seeing the menu on-line and as an older adult, she admits to needing more time to read things. So it really bothered me that our server had no sense to see that she needed more time. The next disappointment – the food. I ordered the eggs on brioche toast with fontina cheese with truffle oil and asparagus. I had been dreaming of this for a while and that dream turned into a nightmare. The bread was super dry – like it was old bread. The fontina cheese was almost non-existent and it was more like a truffle oil aroma. I was so sad. The asparagus was good – I give them that. My friend offered me some of her cappuccino french toast and I found it to be super dry too! What is it with their old bread??? It was just like toppings on top of dry bread. Totally NOT what French toast is supposed to be like. The suburbs need more breakfast places other than chains or the typical Greek Diner. What the Suburbs does NOT need is a promise of inventive items only to disappoint diners when they visit. Pricey food, huge disappointment.

Oh Holy Hell… this place is AWESOME!!! I literally wanted to order everything on the menu. Key Lime Pancakes? Pumpkin Pancakes with chessecake topping? YUM!!! Unique omelets, benedicts, specials… the list goes on. We were greeted by a fabulous woman that has been there since Eggstasy’s birth and she told us some great stories. You will know here if you meet her because she’s simply awesome and will talk your ear off, in a good way. I wish I could remember her name, dang! Ask here for the story about why they put the cucumber slice in the water. LOL It’s been a few weeks since I dined here but just know that you need to visit this little jem tucked in a stripmall. The creativity that shines through on the walls and the menu are pure genius!!!

First time I ever went I fell in love. They have an orange juice machine that squeezes fresh oranges to provide fresh orange juice? HELLYEAH! A friend of mines is the manager there and he treated us well. The environment there was very welcoming and I believe this place is family friendly. It’s always poppin’. There’s a bit of a wait, but it’s totally worth it. I just remembered that I loved the benedict my boyfriend had and it had salmon in it and I HATEFISH!!! But it still was super delicious. I’d recommend this place to anyone who wanted really great food.

If you’re ever out in the Oakbrook/Lombard area for breakfast, you would be a fool to miss this place. The décor is very upscale, but this is your typical breakfast and lunch restaurant. Ordered the organic garden omelet with a side of multigrain pancakes. Both were excellent! The omelet was very filling and the pancakes came topped and filled with fresh berries. The prices are not cheap, but they aren’t expensive either. You pay what you get for. They have so many other dishes that I want to try… they even put out a bunch of their dishes early in the day so patrons can see what the dish actually looks like before ordering. I’m from the Wheaton area, and Red Apple Pancake house is my standard. This place is just as good! Do yourself a favorite and drive to this restaurant… it is pure Eggstacy(haha).

Although tucked away into a corner of a strip mall which is on a street with a lot of construction and not the easiest to get in and out of, it is definitely worth a visit. They have a bunch of specials on display at the front. Pancakes, French toast, mini burgers, and desserts are up there. Our server had to come back 4 times because my co-worker and I weren’t sure what to get. My co-worker went up to view the specials twice while I switched from breakfast to lunch. Ultimately, she chose the croque monsieur while I went with the chocolate cake french toast. Most everything on the menu is at $ 10 or less and you get large portions. We split ours and the croque monsieur used carved ham and had thick bread. The chocolate cake was lightly egged but used frosting as a topping instead of needing syrup. The place wasn’t that busy for a weekday lunch which was a little disappointing because I’d like to see this place continue to be there. There is a lounge up front for drinks as well as some seating outside. Servers were prompt and comped our coffee since we were enjoying our meals. Definitely a place for more meals!

This is a great change to your usual pancake house or Greek-style diner. The décor is bright and modern, and the menu is vast. Portions are more than what you’d expect in this chic establishment. Prices are slightly higher than what you’d expect for breakfast, but this is a nice change for something different than cheddar in your omelet and more than maple syrup on your pancakes. I had an omelet with red peppers, artichokes and feta. My mom had pumpkin pancakes with a cheescake glaze, and my aunt tried an omelet with blue cheese and mushrooms. They’ll also customize omelets if you ask. Most omelets were about $ 9 – 11. Food was hot, and hash browns were crunchy! I couldn’t have been more pleased. Visited on a Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. and it was empty, but this place was crowded by 10 – 10:30, so you could expect a decent wait by then.

I could start out this review saying this place was pure ecstasy. I am sure that’s been done. If I read that in a review, I would very promptly dismiss that person as a pettifogging, bloviating, and nefarious fool. Yes, look up those words, learn something today. Another thing about being an educator, in delicious food, physical education, and history, I want to tell you about Eggstacy being absolutely awesome. I arrived with my friend, Carolyn, and put HER name down. It was awesome, because the hostess looked at me funny because Carolyn was parking the car, and she probably thought, «Hmph, this man is named Carolyn, must be a fruit.» Speaking of fruit, many of the fruity, savory, and eye opening selections were setup as you walk in. They all looked amazing, EVENWITHTHEFLIESCLOSELYHOVERING. We were quickly overwhelmed, and just wanted to sit down and order, so we wouldn’t change our minds. After about a 10 – 15 minute wait on a Sunday at 1PM, we were seated. I went to the bathroom because as I told Carolyn, I wanted to get as much coffee as I could, to take advantage of the Groupon she brought. I ended up getting 3.5 cups, and was sweating, a lot. I guess it being hot in there, as well as me amping up my caffeine consumption made it even hotter. Oh well, love me some great Joe! The waitress asked if I wanted cream, and I said no, and she replied, «Oh, you like it strong.»(Slight sexual overtone). There really wasn’t one, but its fun to imagine there was just for sh*ts and gigs, right? My only snag on this place was that it was crowded and hot, as I mentioned, but I guess that’s what you get when you put out quality grub like Eggstacy. I ordered the Apple and Brie Omelet with Chicken Sausage, fruit, and substituted Multi-Grain Pancakes. The crazy lady I was with loves pancakes ALMOST as much as me, so she ordered the Ham, Leeks, Sunflower Seeds, and Gruyère. She was concerned that the sunflower seeds would overpower everything, but that’s not even the best thing she got. She decided to order pure gold. Pumpkin Cheesecake Pancakes. She let me have a bite, and it tasted like birthday cake. If I could pick a few words to describe that bite. Stupefying. Majestic. Astonishing. Yep, had to pull out the thesaurus on that one, folks. We have already decided to go back and try something different. This place is also awesome for people-watching. We were there for about an hour or so, and you get the best of Suburbia in here. I highly recommend this place. Expect to wait it out, it will be worth it. As Arnold said before he porked(Wait, I skipped the chocolate covered bacon, damn next time), that ugly maid, «I’ll be back». And probably sweating because it’s hot.

I can’t remember the last time I had to make the waitress come back twice before I could decide on what I wanted to order. You could literally close your eyes and randomly pick anything on the menu and it would be delicious. We decided to sit outside since it was nice out but the only complaint I have about the entire experience was that there were no umbrellas for the tables. That aside we both chose omlettes which is such a rarity for me I can’t even remember the last time I ordered one let alone actually saw one worth my while. I had the ham, leeks, guyere, and sunflower seed while my gf had the roasted garlic, asparagus, and almond omelette with balsamic redux. Not only were they both great combinations but half of each are still in my fridge because they were crazy big. Thats extra points in my book — two breakfasts for the price of one. The pancakes were a tad on the dry side but the potatoes were perfect and just the way they should be made. None of that frozen shredded crap that you find most places. It is a little on the pricey side but it is oakbrook after all and the menu is filled with items that your local diner would never give two thoughts to. This is my new favorite breakfast spot and there is no reason why you shouldn’t give it a go.

This place is super segg-xy! Went here with the family and loved it. Portions were huge and there were a lot of interesting combos for the regular breakfast type of fare. We were seated immediately on a Sunday morning – we beat the church crowd – woohoo! They are very tentative with the cucumber water carafes – which is great because I drink ALOT of water. Luckily we were within view of their fresh squeezed OJ machine and it was super cool – wish I would have thought of some contraption like that. I had the skinny b@!$% and it was pretty good, a whole wheat tortilla with turkey sausage, spinach, tomatoes, shrooms and a kabob stick of fruit. Seeing that they have a kids menu though I wish they had an activity sheet for kids or something — they have ripped out coloring pages for the kids – but I wish they had more crayons — really getting a bunch of broken crayons for the kiddies was kind of a turn-off. Kiddies loved their mickey mouse pancakes and crepes. Their meals came with milk so that was nice that we didn’t have to purchase a separate drink for them. Hubby had the banana macadamia pancakes – it was a huge looking dessert platter. This place definitely is not a run of the mill breakfast diner. With all the interesting combos on the menu can’t wait to try something else.

I think what sank this place a star for me was slow service. Granted, we came in at 2:45 and they close at 3, but I’ve always believed that if your business hours are until 3, you still should provide customers the best service possible even if they walk in at 2:55. The hostess seated us right away and said our server would be right with us. However, it was quite a while before our server came, and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy. She delivered a carafe of water to us and took my juice order and said she’d bring water glasses for us. A few more minutes go by, no juice and no glasses. Finally she comes back with my juice, but no water glasses. So we asked her for glasses, and a couple more minutes go by before she returns with two glasses. One was looking dirty, so we asked her to change it for another one. The food is what is keeping this place floating at 3 stars for the time being. Their menu is extensive and offers a wide variety beyond the typical omelets, skillets, and Benedicts. AND they offer CHOCOLATECOVEREDBACON. Ummm… bacon is tasty. Chocolate is tasty. The two together… VERY tasty. I was a little skeptical, but my boyfriend tried it and assured me I would like it, and he was right(again). The food did take a while, but our server, Holly, did stop by to assure us that it was being worked on and to apologize for the wait. Overall, a respectable place. Again, the slow service was probably due to the fact that we came in close to closing, but we enjoyed ourselves. Since it’s a bit far, we wouldn’t go regularly. But with the weather getting warmer, it’s possible we’ll find ourselves at Oakbrook again on a Sunday and in need of a decent brunch place. In that case, we’d definitely come by again.

I’ve eaten here a few times and really like the concept. It is a huge place with lot’s of tables but definitely gets packed on weekend mornings. The interesting thing is they have a really cozy waiting area in the front with couches and offer free smoothies to those waiting. I also like the cucumber water that is served at the tables. Very nice touches. The menu is extensive and they have 3 or 4 varieties of «benedict» type breakfasts for which I am a big fan. My only issue here is the«hollandaise» sauce that they use seems to be from a powder and not homemade. Also the crepes seem to have some kind of levening in them as they appeared more like pancakes than crepes. So, great place, great ambiance, good service, great menu, and ok execution of the menu. I eat here when in the neighborhood but don’t go too far out of the way.

Wow! This place… from start to finish it was definitely impressive. The host and hostess were very friendly and although there were a lot of people waiting(it was a Sunday) the waiting area is very cute with couches, magazines and lots to look at so the time flew by. My favorite part was that they actually put their specials on display with little signs telling what they are. My mouth was literally watering. I mean who can walk out after actually seeing what they have to offer? It’s a very smart(yet cruel) marketing trick so kudos to the management! lol Anyway, once we got to the table we were given a carafe of cucumber water(fancy). The menu is massive and everything looks good. Unfortunately while our wait wasn’t long the food took forever to come out but it was so good when it got there that I can’t bring myself to deduct a star. I do think the portion sizes are ridiculous but once again my inner fat girl won’t let me deduct a star. It’s always nice to have leftovers right? Everything was cooked to perfection. Eggs over medium — Perfect. Bacon — nice and crispy French Toast — Divine. All in all this place was amazing. I wish I lived in the area so I could eat here all the time. I’m thinking it’s definitely worth the trip out to Oak Brook though.

Yuck. I’m not sure why my friends keep wanting to go here because we’re almost always disappointed in some aspect of our experience; whether it be the actual food, service, or wait time. Honestly, if you’re not ordering something off their fancy(read: overpriced) sweets menu(french toast, waffles, etc) I think you’re wasting your time and money. The omelets and savory selections are just as good, if not better at most of the multiple diners found throughout the suburbs. This past Sunday my friends and I were celebrating a birthday and once again chose Eggstacy(not my choice, but also not my birthday so I gladly went with it). We all arrived around 10 a.m. and were largely ignored by our waitress until 10:30 when I asked the manager if we had a server. She took our orders and disappeared for another half hour when she started bringing our food. About three of us were missing our entrees. About 7 minutes passed when she returned with two of the missing items. She was about to leave the table again when I mentioned the fact that I was still missing my food. This is where it gets interesting. She told me that the kitchen had«just informed her» they were out of what I ordered. No, not 40 minutes ago when the order was placed, this news was withheld until everyone else’s food was on the table getting cold. She asked me if I wanted to order something else, but I had an appointment and didn’t have time to wait another 40 minutes to get my food. She made no effort to accommodate us for the error and did everything she could to avoid me for the rest of our stay. When she returned about 10 minutes later with the pancakes she’d forgotten earlier(which arrived on a broken — not just chipped — plate) I asked what the manager was going to do to accommodate us for the error. She seemed surprised, but disappeared again, muttering something about asking him. She came back later and tried to avoid me again. I asked her what he said, and she mentioned that he’d be giving us a giftcard. Oh good, so I can come back again for more bad service. The manager himself didn’t show up until we were getting ready to leave. He brought the giftcard and a VERY insincere apology. He blamed the kitchen staff and seemed irritated with having to come to the table. One of my friends suggested that he take my wife’s entrée off the order as well. He shrugged his shoulders and walked away,(but I guess he took the suggestion because when the bill came, hers was taken off). All in all, it was one of many DISAPPOINTING experiences at Eggstacy. Do yourself a favor and hit up a local diner or even Denny’s if you want a good breakfast. The pretentious Oakbrook atmosphere and lackluster service just aren’t worth the inflated prices at this place.

Good food. Worst service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Took 15 minutes to get silverware, and this continued after we ordered our food and were served coffee. After ordering, we were informed by our server, Javier, that they were out of strawberries, so my girlfriend was unable to get the waffles with strawberries she wanted. Which was understandable, but she was never asked if she still wanted her side of has browns, as the item she switched to came with them. So after they came, I asked if they could take back the additional side, and we were told it would be no problem. Yet it showed up on the bill. Also, I never received the orange juice I ordered, yet it showed up on the bill as well. To top it all off, when I went to pay the bill, my girlfriend(who is fluent in spanish) wanted to stay seated while I spoke to the manager. While sitting there, she overheard some of the cleanup staff in Spanish talking about how I was rude for leaving her at the table alone and they called me an a**hole. Which we also informed the manager about. She apologized profusely, discounted our check, and said she would definitely be talking to the staff associated with our experience. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant any time soon.

Eggstasy is the perfect name for this breakfast/lunch spot. The extensive menu features many over-the-top creations for the adventurous eater and those not counting calories. The décor features all things eggs and roosters, etc. The wait staff wear t-shirts with various funky egg-style sayings. Now you can get your eggs and hash browns or you can order an omelet with caramelized pears and cinnamon or crispy prosciutto benedict, or a turkey, roasted red pepper and Kaseri cheese frittata, all of which I’ve had and all of which have been delicious. Most orders come with hash browns or a fresh fruit stick. Like French Toast? Well you can get yours thick, thin, sourdough, carrot cake, topped with fruit, or on a recent trip, two pieces filled and topped with grilled asparagus pieces and drizzled with truffle oil. Oh yeah, I’m salivating just remembering. Eggstasy has an entire fold-out section to their menu that contains all of the really ooey-gooey specialty pancakes and french toast items. How about pumpkin pancakes with a cheesecake sauce, or banana nutella crepes or maybe something made with chocolate cake? You can order these items all by themselves or you can get a side to your regular order for a lesser charge. For those watching their waistlines or cholesterol, there is a «Healthy Habits» section that includes oatmeal, whole wheat french toast with fresh berries and other healthier alternatives. I’ve had items off of this section and they were just as good as the rest of the menu. The prices are bit higher here than your standard breakfast spot, but well worth it. The portions are huge and the service has always been great. Expect a wait on Sunday mornings. The management offers free coffee while you wait and was also handing out samples of banana smoothies on my last visit. If you can’t find parking out front, there is additional parking hid behind the restaurant.

Eggstasy. Like a little kid– the name makes me laugh every time I say it. As do the little sayings that they have peppered around like«bringing seggxy back» and«we begg to differ». What ever the pun– the food is good, the portions are huge and the price is right! Open only for breakfast and lunch, we stopped in for lunch the other day. Holy Cripes! For only $ 8.95– I got a huge bowl of cream of potato soup, a club sandwich and fries. That’s unbelievable! And my dining partner in crime had a panini, fries and a huge bowl of chicken noodle soup for the same price. How is that possible? I don’t know how they do it but they do it well. Service was attentive, and the food came out so fast that we had barely taken a sip of our soup before our sandwiches had arrived. The place is a little kitschy with chickens on the brightly colored yellow walls and wooden tables and chairs. In the summer months there is a side patio with umbrella covered tables to enjoy your food at. We were the anomaly eating lunch for lunch– all the tables around us had chosen breakfast for lunch which tells me alot about the quality of the breakfast foods. The french toast stuffed with mascarpone cheese looked great– there are 8 kinds of eggs Benedict, 20 different omelette’s and even 6 skillet dishes on the menu. I know where I am going for brunch this Sunday! The good news? They are soon opening up a sister restaurant in Hinsdale called«New Yolk, New Yolk». Yeah– the«yolk’s on me» with all these egg jokes but for this caliber of food at this price I’ll deal with it. For Eggstasy is all it’s cracked up to be!

I’d like to start of saying I ate here the same day as Katie D did below and had a completely different experience. We have a party of 4 and the place was packed. We walked in and didn’t wait too long for a table. Our service was great. We were actually the slow ones as she came back 3 times and we weren’t ready to order. The menu is a bit overwhelming and the choices are almost endless. I had the portabella mushroom frittata with pancakes. The other members of my party had the biscuits and gravy and the Dali omelette. They were all amazing and the portions are HUGE. I have half a frittata left over for tomorrows breakfast. It is an expensive breakfast but you get a lot of food and its all delicious. If you make the right choice you can end up with leftovers making the pricing not such an issue. They serve you a carafe of cucumber water when you sit down. It’s something different, not my favorite, but still good. I will be enjoying more breakfasts, maybe even a lunch, in the near future.
