You may have to wait on a long line, but it’s because it’s the best ice cream on the island. However, the portion sizes are so unpredictable. I went here 3 times during my week long vacation. Although, I ordered a large size each time, 3 different servers gave me different sizes for the same price. They ranged from a skimpy 1−½ scoops to 3 scoops.

Great icecream but terrible service. Terrible terrible service from Rose. So rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. The business owner should find people that don’t make you feel like a burden for doing business with them. Or maybe Rose is the owner and she should hire people to deal with the public. Either way really bad attitude behind the counter.

Hands down one of the best ice creams I have ever had and believe me I have had a lot of ice cream. Tonight I had the cherry chip and every bite was a surprise, they have the biggest chocolate chips. The other night I got the expresso cappuccino and it had chocolate covered expresso beans in it. My mouth had no idea what was going on, not what you want before bed.

Loved this ice cream. The chocolate chip was amazing! Far superior ice cream! #1 choice!

Best place for ice cream on the Vineyard, IMO. This small New England chain started in Bar Harbor and now has 4 locations. They are famous for the«lobsta» ice cream, but I recommend just sampling it and moving on to the butter crunch(they make the butter crunch themselves and it is soooo good). Be aware the portions are GENEROUS. A kids size is plenty.

Lots of chocolate and ice cream to choose from! Tried the black raspberry ice cream with sprinkles. Rich flavor and for a kiddy size it was filling for $ 5.50. Lots to choose from and relax near the ocean front around the corner.

Family who literally travels for ice cream? Guess you haven’t been through CT and the fabulous Dr. Mikes with fresh, real whipped cream?! Also sold by the pound!!! When an ice cream shop uses canned whip, you lost me at hello. Yes, flavors are plentiful and interesting here. But, personally, if I decide to indulge in ice cream, it’s gotta be loaded with butter fat and real frothy cream whipped by angels is a must.

Reconfirmed best ice cream on the island. Sea salt caramel. Nuff said. The mint chip was good too, as evidenced by my 3yo’s picky palette. He crushed it! Always busy but worth the wait

This is a great ice cream shop and has incredible customer service. Sam was great but remember to bring cash!

Whether we like to admit it or not, my family are connoisseurs of ice cream. I’m talking traveling based on ice cream shops. Ben and Bill’s did not disappoint! We got fantastic service from this guy named Sam who let us try 20 too many samples. We settled on HEAPING serving of oreo, peach with peaches in it, butter crunch, and fudge swirl. Wow is the only way to describe it. I think oreo was our favorite, but also we are softies for cookies n cream. Regardless of what flavors you like, Ben and Bill’s will have them and more and the ice cream will be good. Updated review: the oreo ice cream was so good that we took our friends there the next day. I’ve never been so sad to finish a cone before. We are also planning on going back tomorrow! Definitely best quality and value ice cream on the island! I can’t stress how necessary it is to go here!

Pretty good ice cream, it’s a little pricey($ 7 for two scoops) but the serving sizes are huge so it’s okay. I got a kiddie size and couldn’t finish it. I got the watermelon sorbet and it was good. They don’t accept credit cards so bring cash!

I love Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium. It is my favorite place to get ice cream at on Martha’s Vineyard! Be sure to try their lobster ice cream! From delicious home made ice cream to a great selection of chocolates and great customer service, Ben & Bill’s has it all. Remember that like many little shops in Oak Bluffs, they are a cash only establishment.

Good ice cream with absolutely enormous portions. I strongly doubt anyone could finish a large without feeling ill.

Delicious ice cream, tons of flavors, gigantic portions. The«kiddie» is what would probably normally be considered a small. It’s the only size that is somewhat average – the rest were huge, gigantic and enormous. I got cake batter which was Delish. The hardest part is picking.

This is one of the few places that’s open in the first week of May on MV and it was partly the reason why I visited this place to begin with. Here, all the ice cream and chocolate is made in house. There’s even someone sitting by the window hand making the chocolate so you can see it being done first hand. There is a huge variety of chocolate and ice cream(early may, selection is more limited but the server said that there are many more to come). I tried 3 different chocolates(dark chocolate s’mores, figaro and dark chocolate peanut log), all of which were not too bad but not out of this world. On top of that, I bought some almond butter brittle. That was phenomenal. It’s sold by the pound so you can buy as much or as little as you want! Definitely try that!

Lobster ice cream! Yum! It was surprisingly good. Buttery ice cream with real chunks of lobster. The vanilla and cookies and cream ice creams were great too! They have a huge selection of flavors as well as a small sugar-free section. Lots of chocolates truffles and candies too! There’s only 3 small tables in the store and no strollers are allowed inside. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to make the fresh squeezed frozen lemonade on their menu. Machine busted?

Tip Jars Blow… While I think this is the best ice cream on the island, I think it might be the slowest ice cream place on the island. The workers talk to each other like the customer is not there, they’re slow as molasses and they don’t care BUT want a tip. I too am not a fan of a tip jar when you’re getting an average of $ 6 for an ice cream shake, sundae or scoop. 1 out of 4 ice creams was medicore, that would be MINE which was the coffee shake. The Heath Bar shake was better and the birthday cake shake was really good. The hot fudge sundae got rave reviews from the 4th member of our party. All in all good but the help sucks.

Ben & Bill’s has an amazing selection of ice cream and almost too-generous servings. The amount of ice cream on a single small cone could easily satisfy three people. My husband, sister-in-law and I all got«small» cones and only my husband finished all of his — and this was with painstaking effort. I ate about a third and my sister-in-law finished half of hers. Prepare to be dazzled and amazed by the flavor selection — they have a couple dozen flavors, including everything from the standard chocolate, mint chip, etc. to the more exotic Chai, ginger(zing!) and even lobster flavor. We enjoyed the salted caramel and the ginger(the latter is delicious and potent). Go hungry. And eat fast, before that mountain of ice cream melts!

We settled on Ben & Bill’s for ice cream after seeing the high Unilocal reviews. And we were NOT disappointed! It took me forever to settle on a flavor. So long, in fact, that my husband didn’t even wait for me to order so we could share a large, as we discussed(a large is 3 scoops, 4 flavors and just 50 cents more than a medium; our plan was to split it). Instead, I got a small and he got a medium and we both regretted it. We threw out a good amount of ice cream because they were just too large! The ice cream was thick & creamy and fantastic, but the portions are HUGE! My husband usually eats a large and finishes mine — he couldn’t even finish his medium! The salted caramel was delish, but too sweet for a full portion, so I went with the Black Raspberry and Ickersnay(Snickers); he went for the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup. We would definitely go back, but next time we’ll share!
