I have lived down the street from this studio for almost four years now, but only recently found the time to attend a class. I have gone several times now, all to Bear’s classes, and I definitely plan to make these classes a regular addition to my life. I’ve gone to classes at studios all over the city, and most of them are valuable, but I like Bywater Yoga because it is affordable(Bear’s class is by donation of $ 5 – 15), she is very knowledgeable about body limits, anatomy, and has suggestions for poses that take dangerous stress off of the body, and I don’t feel like I am competing with anyone while I’m there. Since classes are small, she does introductions by name and by answering a simple question(e.g. What is one of your weaknesses?). This really helps me to focus on myself, improvements, how to be a better person, learn about others, and even helps with my slight fear of public speaking! Can’t wait for me next class! The only reason I haven’t given it five stars is because I’ve only been to classes with one yogi so I don’t know about any of the other instructors.

Thai is a low key studio — a place concerned with building strong practices and with proper placement. I found it very soon after moving to New Orleans, for which I’m so thankful. I have a lifetime of injuries from various types of body work and physical labor. The teachers have been very helpful in adjusting postures for me, and helping me work through my body issues.

I would like to give a rating because of the nice people that work there and how awesome they are at yoga, but unfortunately, this place is too flaky to rate better. Three times I’ve shown up and either no one was there for the scheduled class, or I beat them there(on time) and ended up having to wait for the late instructor to open up and get organized. Twenty minutes later, we’d begin class and I’d be the only participant. I’m sorry, but I’m supposed to be de-stressing when I go to yoga, not dealing with Type-B people who don’t show up, or show up late and disrespect others’ time. I carve out time to do yoga and to make the drive, at least be professional enough to be there to do your job according to the posted schedule.
