This is the new business model for Walgreens and I am loving it! I checked out their flagship store on a trip to Chicago, and fell in love with the variety and options for shopping. While there’s no throwback to the soda fountain, there’s a beauty fountain of brands that I would normally order online(Nuxe — love it!!). Everything is bright and airy and the staff is smiling and helpful. Normally, I have to wait forever to pick up prescriptions regardless of the time of day at my usual location. Here, I punch in my Rewards card, date of birth, select Express Pay, and by magic, a door opens and someone is there to hand me my meds. It was almost as fun as PeeWee’s Playhouse. Their new tagline is «Be Well». Well, I intend on making this location my new go-to for drugstore and more!

I cannot believe I’m giving a Walgreens four stars. It took me a *long* while to shrug the memories of the wretched Walgreens I had to use in Kansas City(the dregs of society made the parking lot their home and would even occasionally jump in front of your car. Fun times… not to mention the incompetent, depressed pharmacy staff, but I digress). I go into this Walgreens about once a week because it’s near the gym. They are typically well-stocked, blah blah blah, nothing major to report on that end. Also, I like how sometimes you may be milling around with your stuff and one of the staff will offer to check you out in cosmetics. I think much of the staff here kind of go above and beyond what I’d expect! It was this past Sunday, though, that prompts me to write this review. The store was filled up with folks looking to stock up for the hurricane, and man, were they prepared. At the front, they had a woman handing out flats of water. The candles were fully stocked… and on sale! Tons of batteries(sadly, they ran out of Ds, though, but those are a hot commodity, it seems), non perishable food items(what better way to sweat out the hurricane than with some Zapps and spicy peanuts??) and of course booze! One-stop hurricane shop!

Location is good if you are Uptown near the River for any reason. Free parking in a lot but be careful for the traffic flow can be worrisome at times. Nothing special about store or service here. I will use this store when I am in need of something they carry and I am in the area.

It’s a Walgreens. There are boxes in the aisles. Crap everywhere. This one sells liquor but needs a facelift. Friendly, chatty service.

I go to this walgreens because it is convenient to where I live. The staff could care less if you’re there, but at least they have security. They usually have what i need and they have good mark downs. The parking lot is not the easiest to navigate, especially because people don’t park well. maybe the spaces are too small, but it seems that eveyone takes up 2 spots. If there was another drug store convenient to where I live, I’d have to go there.
