Actually 4.5 but that’s not an option. I highly recommend this place. Not a lot of choices for food in Algiers Point, but that doesn’t matter… I’d recommend this place anywhere. I’m not a wine connoisseur or anything so I don’t remember the name of the wine I had… rouger or something like that… it was their house red(happy hour 4−6pm M-F, $ 3/glass house red or white). It was just good. I like cab, zin, merlot… stuff like that, so take it for what it’s worth. I got one of their pizzas and it was surprisingly good. Don’t know if they have a wood-fired oven, but the pizza came out that way(you know, with a little bit of darker edge here and there) with a very thin crust. It was big enough to share, especially if you have appetizers, cheese, and/or salad. I was only here for a few days so only stopped in once but will definitely be back if/when I come back to NOLA. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because the patio where I had dinner was a little neglected. Seems like they could power wash the walls and cement floor and/or paint it. Maybe a mural or something would really add to the atmosphere. The inside area seemed nice enough though. Not affecting my score but affected my experience… the patio is small(3 tables) which is fine, but there was a group of uppity, loud talking, name dropping… jerks who just couldn’t talk to each other. It was like they wanted those around them to hear their conversation(Oh, blah blah blah about my trip to Amsterdam, or I have connections and can get you into this or that TPC golf course, or I fired this guy or that guy who works for me, etc., etc., etc.). It definitely affected my enjoyment of the dinner, but that’s not the bar’s fault. Oh yeah, this place is located just steps from the ferry so easy to come over for a mellow start to an evening and then head back to the wild side. ;) I stayed in Algiers Point so it was just a short walk for me.

Great spot on the West Bank! Salami pepperoni, extra cheese, the mushroom pizza and the crabmeat/Brie appetizer are all delicious! The white blend is my favorite wine and they also sell bottles/craft beer to go. The place is intimate and friendly, always great service. Definitely worth a visit!

I had the pleasure of visiting V&D on a sorority sister reunion/landmark b’day weekend with my sorority sis who lives in Algiers. We stopped in on the way to catch the ferry and really enjoyed the place. I wish time allowed for a meal here, or a follow up bar visit, but it didn’t, at least this trip. We really enjoyed their selection of wines by the glass, and by the bottle — the prices are right and my sorority sister made new friends by meeting the owner, and his wife(co owner) who is named Vanessa just like my Tau Eta Psi sis! Rock on V&D, thank you for the pleasant pre-ferry glass of Chard!

We came for happy hour and enjoyed cheese and wine before heading back to the ferry. The bartender was quite friendly and attentive. The drunken goat with bread chips was delicious.

In classic New Orleans fashion it looks suspicious from outside and the door is on the left side if the building, not under the awning that displays the name. We thought it was closed! Luckily it was not. We sat outside after picking a bottle of wine to enjoy. The cheese plate was nice as well as the bacon spinach pizza and crab au gratin brie! Don’t pass this place up.

To make it short: Everyone who likes to sit comfortable, eat well aged cheese and drink good wine, should come here! Also, the service is awesome! I would definitely recommend it and will come back next time!

Food was tasty, but the service was so mind numbingly slow it ruined the whole evening. Server was aware it was slow, but didn’t really do anything about it. We finished a bottle of wine before the cheese even showed up and we weren’t drinking fast. We asked if they would comp us the corking fee if we opened another bottle(had planned to bring a couple home) to ease the wait and they wouldnt even do that. I wanted to like it, but no, just no.

Living in the Algiers area, and the Westbank in general, I have always thought that in order to find a good, classy restaurant or bar meant a trip across the river. At least as far as wine bars go, I now know that there is a great little gem right here in the Point. I had spotted Vine and Dine before, next door to the Dry Dock and across the street from the Canal Street Ferry, but never thought to try it out. I finally have and I am so glad that I did! The place is funky, with lots of eclectic artwork adorning the walls, but is still classy and intimate, perfect for a date night or a get together with friends. As you walk through the bar, you will find there is a patio outside for enjoying good weather while sipping your wine. The staff is super friendly and more than happy to assist you in picking out the right bottle of wine. Having been to other wine bars where the menu consists of little more than cheese plates with the usual fruit, nut and sliced meat accoutrements, Vine and Dine reaches for and gets five stars from me for having a more extensive menu which includes salads, gumbo and pizza. My date and I started our meal with a two-cheese sampler for which we asked the chef to pair our wine, a Rioja, with whatever would complement it the best. We were served a wedge each of manchego and chaumes along with fruit preserves with nuts and flat bread. The cheese and wine balanced each other out perfectly! For our entrée, we ordered the Mediterranean pizza with salami, roasted red peppers, black olives and feta atop a combination of marinara and pesto. I liked how the toppings were arranged artfully on the pizza, rather than just thrown on there randomly, and it was quite delicious! The pizzas are small which allows for you to start things off with that cheese sampler, or any of the other appetizers or salads. It’s great knowing a place like this is just minutes away from home and does not require a drive over the GNO Bridge. It is also located within walking distance of the ferry and levee, so it is in the perfect location for ferry riders who are looking for a cool place to hit up while in Algiers Point or a stroll along the river after the last sip of wine. I will definitely be making this one of my regular spots!

Whether you live in Algiers Point and don’t feel like driving, or are visiting the French Quarter and want to hop on the ferry to get away from the crazy for a nice bite to eat, you can’t go wrong here. Quality gourmet pizza from a chef with an impressive NOLA résumé, cozy relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Big plus for us is that they do a build your own, which can be cheeseless for the vegan Mrs. We haven’t got around to sampling the wine selection yet, but it looks good and they also have a selection of quality beers available.

I’m a current resident of Algiers Point, and a former resident of the French Quarter, so I am familiar with just aout every restaurant and bar in downtown. The Vine and Dine is one of my top five regular stops in all of New Orleans! Delicious food(try the portobello muschroom and truffle oil gourmet pizza!), fantastic wine selection, and the most helpful, welcoming staff I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. The restaurant and wine bar is cozy and intimate, which makes this a great stop for a romantic date or if you’re trying to experience something off the touristy beaten path. The location is super convenient… half a block from the pedestrian ferry, which is a five minute ride from the French Quarter. Do yourself a favor and put this on your list to visit early on your trip, because I guarantee you’ll want to come back a second time before you leave New Orleans!

They have a good wine selection and the staff is very helpful with choosing a bottle that is right for you. We waited a little while for a table to open up, which was fine because they have a small dining room. Their is maybe one bartender/waitress and one other guy there(still not sure what he does). the staff was very friendly and open to answering any questions that I had. The menu all looks delicious. The first page is the cheese plate selection and accoutrements and appetizers. We chose 3 cheeses off of the cheese menu, the Antipasto plate, and the crab and brie dip. The dip was good but a little runny and difficult to scoop or place on your plate or pita bread. fresh crab was the star in that dish. The antipasto plate had homemade hummus, pita chips, clamata olives, smoked gouda, and salami. Everything on that plate was amazing and works very well together. The quality of the salami was fantastic, the salty olives balanced out the smokiness of the cheese and the hummus was perfection. The three cheeses we chose were strong to pair with our red cote-de-rhone. We started simple with the aged cheddar. Aged 18 months and a nice even flavor profile. My second favorite was the peporito. Italian hard cheese with black peppercorns. and my favorite was a garlic and herb rolled goat cheese. That one was soft and spreadable, with a deep herb flavor. We ordered their chicken, pecan, and prosciutto pizza. The pizza was hand crafted and cooked perfectly. The pecans worked nicely with the other toppings and were cooked to a softer consistency than I imagined they would be. All of their pizzas look amazing and I will be back to try the spinach and bacon pizza next time. Then they offered dessert. They bake their own dessert and tonight was the red velvet cake. It was outstanding. I’m typically not a dessert person all the time, but I highly encourage you to get whatever they offer.

I’ve stopped in twice now, and I absolutely LOVE this place. Even on a Friday night I was able to get a spot at the bar, and I love to be able to browse through the wines by the bottle as I walk back to the seating area. They have a nice selection, and I appreciate the price differences between dining in with the bottle or taking out. It definitely motivates me to stop in just to buy a bottle(or take a few home!). The cheese selection is phenomenal and affordable. There’s a truffled burrata that is to die for. I haven’t had anything from this place that is not amazing. The brie and crap au gratin is something you do not want to miss out on, and the pizzas are great. They dress salads lightly so you actually get to taste the greens, which I appreciate, and the staff are knowledgeable and willing to make suggestions. I can’t recommend this place enough to friends for date night or going out with a few co-workers. It’s worth the ferry fare or drive!

Best service and the food was amazing! Had the brie with crab au gratin and the portobello pizza. The food was so divine. The owner is also the chef and she came out after our food was served and she was so cool. The waitress/bar tender was so attentive but not annoying. A great overall experience! Definitely recommend for groups of couples!

Vine and Dine is such a great place to go for a unique experience. Owners Vanessa and Stephen are truly passionate about their place, and every aspect of it shows. Great for date night or with the kiddos.

We went on a Saturday night and it was quite empty. If you like privacy and want to avoid crowds, this could be a good thing. The service was excellent. There is outdoor seating that could use an extensive overhaul. Great place for a private date or to bring a group of friends and kind of take over for the night. Very similar to Bacchanal just with food and not as crowded.

As it sometimes happens, a single smart business decision completely turned this place around for me. A simple one, which was the cause of my original complaint: After a quick renovation, they added a front seating area, very cosy I might add — and now they allow kids!!! And since i love getting and giving second chances, even thirds, here come the 4 stars! The food was excellent, prices were reasonable and the waiter friendly and very helpful in explaining the choices. Good wine, tapas style but not tapas sized food options, minipizzas, cold cuts and cheeses, what else can one want from a neighborhood place? Ah yes, location, nice interior and intimate atmosphere, check on all three. A great rags to riches story for me! :) (I no longer wonder if takeout is allowed, since there’s no reason not to eat there now that we’re not segregated against anymore)

Spent the evening as the DD for the Girly and her old work chum. Started out sitting outside of Crown and Anchor while they drank a pint or two. Then stopped at Vine and Dine. Mistake. The wine was reasonably priced but the food left everything to be desired. The shrimp and mango salsa was not a salsa and instead of being served with chips or crostini, it has a very few shredded colored strips over them. Not good for sharing and not tasty either. A good idea marred by sloppy execution. Total fail. They only ate it because it cost so much for so little. The brie and crab dip DID have crostini but the only hint of crab I had was a piece of shell. It was more of a watery soup than a dip. Again, badly executed. I do like the free water.

It’s places like the Vine and Dine that make Algiers Point such a great place. I’m lucky enough to live down the street and stop by for a bottle to take home from time to time. Vine and Dine has a great menu– you really can’t go wrong with anything, and the staff make excellent pairing suggestions. Happy Hour changes throughout the year and makes for a great excuse to stop in. It’s right off the ferry, so it’s easy to get to!

Vine & Dine is a great little neighborhood find! Excellent wine selection, with cheese, salads & creative entrees to compliment your favorite glass or bottle. All of that, combined with friendly service, fair prices & a casual, relaxed vibe(nothing fancy, here), will keep me coming back.

A great little wine and cheese shop/bistro in Algiers Point(just steps off the Algiers ferry landing if you’re an Eastbanker and well worth the 7-minute ferry ride, especially on a nice day). It was always a great place to pick up wine, cheese, and take-out, but now that they’ve added a wine room with tables and a courtyard in the back, it’s also a great place to go have a dink and/or a relaxing meal after work. The wine selection is excellent, with a wide range of price selections(including many terrific little wines in the $ 10 – 15 range if you’re on a budget) and the cheese selections are awesome(be sure to give the Lemon Stilton, Drunken Goat and Red Dragon Cheddar a try)! Head chef and owner, Vanessa Thurber, is very knowledgeable about the wines she carries and always helpful with with pairing suggestions. The food is great, the bistro décor and ambiance is quiet and relaxing, and the service is friendly and relaxed, but speedy. I disagree with the reviewer who complained about the $ 5 corkage fee for bottles purchased(and partaken of) within the shop. It’s much cheaper than buying a «marked-up» bottle of wine at most restaurants and corkage fees of $ 10 or more for bringing your own wine are the norm at most places I’ve eaten. They will happily keep your bottle of wine chilled for you and replenish your glass before it’s empty. Their happy hour special — «bottomless» glasses of wine for $ 10 and Buy 1/Get 1 Free on wines by the glass — between 5pm and 7pm is also a great deal. The BBQ Pulled Pork, Shrimp Quesadillas, Tomato Basil soup, and Brie & Crab au gratin are personal favorites. The only thing really missing is the lack of dessert selections. I’m not much of a dessert eater myself, so it doesn’t matter all that much to me, but I can see this would be the perfect little destination for someone looking for a place to stop in and have an after-dinner dessert with champagne/port/wine. And, although it’s primarily a wine bistro and retail wine shop, a selection of specialty coffees wouldn’t hurt for the non-drinkers in the crowd(and the drinkers as well)! My only other(minor) complaint is the lack of tawny/ruby ports in the summer — apparently, not everyone drinks port year ’round — who knew? But all in all, a perfect little neighborhood wine shop and bistro that keeps improving over time, Keep up the good work, guys! Note: sign up for their mailing list or check their website/Facebook page to get notified of specials, wine tastings(often free) and fun events like the recent«Cork-n-Pork» and Italian Thursdays.
