Fresh from Thailand and was craving pad Thai and Thai tea. Found this place while driving down Carrollton. I ordered pad Thai while my boyfriend ordered red curry chicken. Both dishes were pretty good, especially the curry chicken. The price are decent ranging from $ 11-$ 16 for entrees and they give you a lot of food! I’d definitely return.

In town for a few hours and really wanted some Asian food for lunch, found this little place on Unilocal and decided to give it try. *Finding Parking is not easy! Only street parking is available, I circled around a few times before I found an open spot I’m comfortable to park at for an hour ish. What really drew me here was the picture I saw of the DESSERT: Mango and white sticky rice with sweet coconut sauce. My all time favorite! It did not disappoint, very yummy but the rice can be a little more cooked! Ok, back to business. I ordered the red curry with pork that came with white rice, tons of veggies and a free appetizer of spring roll and sweet and sour soup. Everything was good but not outstanding! I loved all the bamboo shoots in the curry but other than that, I’ve had better curry. If you are in the area, it sure isn’t a bad place to stop by for a bite!

This is more proof to me that New Orleans really lacks a high quality, authentic, Thai restaurant. Anyone who’s lived in NYC, DC, Boston, or hell even Houston knows this. Our first visit here was for pick up only. The calamari app was simply plain ‘ol fried calamari with a side of sweat sauce. The basil fried rice w/pork was ok but had hardly any basil whatsoever(we added our own spicy green fishsauce to kick it up), and the volcano beef was not very impressive. The most disappointing thing may have been that we asked, and greatly emphasized, to make all of the dishes ‘Thai hot’(their hottest level) and not to shy away from doing even more. They must have not told the chef at all or he just ignored it all together because there was no heat in any dish. Blah. The hunt for amazing, authentic, and HOT Thai food in Nola continues.

These people say they close at 9, even on weekends. But if you show up or call in after 8:30 they won’t serve you. Seriously people? Its freaking 8:30 on a Friday & you won’t seat me? The food is good but after 2 trips there when they wouldn’t even make us takeout because it was 15 – 30 minutes BEFORE they closed, I give up. You these people don’t want your money.

I really haven’t had much luck finding a favorite Thai joint that makes a really good pad thai in NOLA. I’ve eaten at Thai Mint on several occasions. Their service has always been very friendly, but their pad thai has never quite hit that salty-sweet-sour balance I’m longing for when I get the hunger pangs. However, their curries are what I come back for, especially the panang. Thai Mint is also very accommodating offering a vegan/vegetarian version of most(or maybe it was all) of their dishes. They will even ask you if eggs are okay.

Expect a long wait. We finally left after 40 minutes. Can’t give a review about the food, as we never saw even an appetizer.

The service was great and so was the Tom Kha soup. I was very disappointed with the size vs price of the Pad See U noodles as well. The beef that came with the noodles was very dry and the«egg roll» was the size of my thumb. I don’t see myself coming here again. Also pretty disappointed that they didn’t serve Laab.

The complimentary hot and sour soup and roll were good. I ordered the Thai Iced Tea, and Eggplant Basil Chicken. I have been here in the past, and don’t remember the specific items ordered, but both times, the food has been amazing. The restaurant is neat and clean, the service is awesome, and both times I have been, the restaurant has been quiet. Parking in the area can be difficult. All in all, great service, great food, and I will be back!

We ordered take out for an impromptu dinner party on Friday. We had a double order of each: soft rolls, fried dumplings, chicken pad Thai, shrimp pad Thai. The soft rolls were fresh but ok, a bit heavy on the rice noodles. The dumplings were well received by my girls who are pot sticker aficionados. We all agreed that the pad Thai was some of the best we’ve had in New Orleans and the portion was very large. We all preferred the chicken to the shrimp. We will definitely go back.

MYVOTEFORBESTTHAIINTOWN Finally this sweet little restaurant on Carrollton is gaining respect! Last year when I told folks what a great deal the $ 10 or less lunch at Thai Mint was, people invariably thought I meant«Mint Modern». Not now. Today I mentioned to some JCC workout buddies that I was dining here for lunch and gushing compliments ensued. I’D BUYTHEIRHOT&SOURSOUPBYTHEVAT! And it’s lagniappe along with a tasty spring roll with every entrée. LOTS&LOTSOFVEGGIES You can’t help but feel that you’re eating somewhat healthy despite the fact that the creamy coconut panang curry probably has more calories than a cheesecake. But oooooh it’s smooth!

This is my second time visiting Thai Mint, but this time I came in for lunch. I had no idea they had a specific lunch menu and was pleasantly surprised by the relatively low prices. This time I thought I would try something new and tried the Basil Eggplant. Although the only options on the menu for the«meat» are shrimp, pork, beef, or chicken, they are accommodating to customers dietary restrictions and have vegan and vegetarian options. So in this case, I substituted the meat with fried tofu and extra vegetables. Perfect amount of food for a great price and they even start you off with a soup(unfortunately not vegan) and fried spring roll! I think I were prefer to have a lighter appetizer like a small salad or a raw spring roll to balance out the heaviness of the main order. I definitely will be back again! Accommodating and quick service, great food, and a very comfortable dining area!

This place follows all the rules. It’s clean, and nicely decorated. A nice place to sit in. Our waiter had water in our glasses the second they were no longer full, and our food came out quickly. And our food was delicious. I ate all of it, I should not have. I definitely recommend!

Small place with decent prices. They give u a nice size portion of your entrée. I had the pad Thai and it was made to perfection. My boyfriend had the basil shrimp with rice and it was ok. The servers were really friendly and attentive. Street parking. We’ll be back to try different plates.

Ok food, but incredibly stingy on to-go orders. I’ve had the $ 8.95 beef salad 2 – 3 times dining in and a handful of takeout orders. My most recent to-go was filled with about a cup of iceberg lettuce, 5 pieces of beef and less than a dozen vegetables total(couple pepper slices, couple cucumber half-wedges, couple of halved cherry tomatoes). The Tom Yum soup is tasty yet overpriced. It’s the closest Thai to my house, but the paltry takeout portions will probably keep me from returning.

You know you got some issues when the Chinese restaurant down the street serves more convincing Pad Thai… We went at noon on a Tuesday, and no one else was dining in the business. That was fairly indicative of the quality of the cuisine and the service. Our waitress was mostly in the kitchen during the entire encounter. I had to find her in the kitchen when I discovered a short hair in my eggplant dish. Hair aside(I can almost understand because I’m a crazy long-hair-don’t-care hair shedder, but then again I also don’t work in food service…), the food was just mediocre. We had the crispy spring rolls, shrimp Tom yum soup, and the Pad Thai(I swapped my eggplant for the pad Thai after the hair incident). Everything was too sweet and lacked depth of flavor. The best thing was probably the Thai iced tea. To summarize: meh; won’t be coming back.

I think my hunt for my favorite Thai food in Nola has come to an end. It all started with lunch at Thai Mint. I was initially drawn to the very acceptable lunch menu pricing. But I will continue to return for the delicious food and exceptional service! On my first visit I ordered Tom Yum Soup and Red Curry with chicken. First the soup; It was very good, yummy, tomatoey broth with big chunks of quality white meat chicken. It wasn’t spicy enough for my liking but I have since figured out they will turn up the heat if you ask. After my first soup the lovely waitress brought out another soup, hot and sour, along with a very light and crispy egg roll. This is part of the lunch special and I was very pleased, two soups is a dream for me. As for the Red Curry, it was also wonderful. The sauce was creamy and flavorful and I adore the amount of veggies used. I can’t get over the quality of meat; the white meat chicken pieces were so tender and juicy. Overall my experience was fantastic! Since that life changing lunch I have been back several times and have been making my way around the noodle dishes. I’ve tried the Pad Kee Mao and the Pad See U, both very tasty. With these dishes I ordered the beef. The quality was still fantastic. The restaurant is very clean and offers a relaxing environment to dine-in. At night they dim the lights and light candles for more of a date-night atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall, Thai Mint is a wonderful dining experience. Pro tip: If you like spice, make sure to order the spiciest level offered. Don’t be scared, it is not quite Thai hot, but in my opinion, it is the perfect level of heat.

Two days before Chrismas, with shopping all had I was craving some Thai food and craving it bad I thought of my options, thinking with care, In hopes that green curry soon would be there. Our stomachs were settled about what was ahead While visions of spring-roll danced in their heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my beret, Set out together for a mid-winter forray. We went down Carrollton where streetcars do clatter, And stopped at Thai Mint to each get a platter Seated by the window, waiter quick as a flash, We opened our menus to choose a good hash. The curry on the rice was green and yummy, The chicken and eggplant felt good in my tummy. When, on my mother’s plate should appear, But a noodle and chicken dish she said was quite dear. With a little gratis soup and roll, it was good, And the entrees so big we brought food back to our hood. We could but exclaim, as we drove out of sight, «Happy Christmas to all, and more Thai for tonight!»
